Who knows what kind of sports will be held in the future olympics. One thing is sure. In 3000AD the people will still perform the games here. :)
GuilhermeC January 8th, 2005, 04:21 AM 10/10 for the time it was built and for the terrific modernization!

I actually knew that Giorgos, but since it was totally reconstructed from the remnants found in 1870 during the excavation, you can't actually say it was built in the ancient times.Don't know... maybe i'm right, maybe i'm not :|
Finally, i remember at the opening ceremony of the 1997 IAAF's World Championships there was a huge gate at the front side of the stadium (i think it existed also at the 1896 Olympic Games).
What happened to it???

hmm, I have no idea about the gate but it is an ancient stadium because its was designed in the ancient times and this is an architecture forum.
savas May 1st, 2006, 11:24 AM unfortunately this gate at the opening ceremony of the 1997 IAAF's World Championships was just a temporary construction :( Dont ask me why... do not know... But it looked great and i remember the opening ceremony.. here some pictures i found... it was fantastic
