will this be lahore's tallest then?

The tallest in Lahore, the Tallest in Pakistan, and the tallest in South Asia (hotel wise).

I'm not sure if you've checked out the MCB Tower thread, but while talking to the Media, MCB's CEO mentioned that they were planning a 40 storey MCB Tower for Lahore, so I'm guessing, this won't be the "tallest", it might have to share the title! :D

MCB Tower Thread (currently Pakistan's tallest): http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=164695

great!

i also found an ad of boulevard heights tower in lahore in dubai's local newspaper "gulf news"

this one is said to be the tallest, but it doesn't look so tall actually

hope there will be more nice towers approved for pakistan

I've seen an advert of Boulevard heights on ARY and GEO Tv, it looks far from being the tallest. Maybe the tallest among residentials in Pakistan. But then again, Creek Towers are coming up (Residential), and they'd be 40 storey Twin Towers, so Boulevard Heights is nowhere near being the tallest! Maybe in the developer's dreams!

But, I'm waiting for the Ultimate - Port Tower Complex!

By the way, if possible, can you try and scan me the advert of Boulevard Heights ? :)

I actually have a rendering of the Boulevard Heights, Its a nice tower, not bad. But it could've been much better;

Here is the rendering of Boulevard Heights;

Back to the Topic now;

The City Govt of Lahore was creating a hassel for the developer of this building, Hashoo Group, as Lahore is a "Historic City", the courts claimed that the tower would spoil the beauty of Lahore.

But, I was talking to my cousin sister's husband who works for the LDA (Lahore Development Authority), he was saying that the Hotel is coming up, he also mentioned another 55 storey hotel coming up near Mall Rd.

Nice, very green, hope the results is as nice as this rendering...

Thank You Christian. I will try and bring updates on this project as it moves ahead. :D

The building that you see beside the highrise is also part of the PC Hotel, the resort like building, its done, and completed, it was actually done a very long time ago, the new 40 storey highrise is like an extension of the hotel.

Here are a few pictures of the PC Hotel (the small building at the bottom):

The Green colour was chosen because it represents the colours of Pakistan. Green is even found on the Pakistani flag. See my avatar :tongue3:

I just can't wait till its done! I hope the City Govt stops whinning about this project!

I think the main reason of it being green is that it would blend into the surrounding and wont look weird as it is near to Bagh-e-Jinnah the 3rd largest park in the world and the largest in Asia, and the largest in the world in terms of plant varity.

And yes Boulevard Heights will be the tallest of LAHORE not PAKISTAN. Already abt 10 towers have been announced (only in Lahore) that will be taller than the 23 storey Boulevard Heights but its already under construction and will be completed before all the others so it will be the tallest building of lahore for some time.

Well the work on the construction site was started way back in Jan 2004, the soil was soft and wasnt suitable for skyscrapers, and international corporation was invited which worked for 6-7 mths and the land was ready for the construction, the land has been leased from the Govt. for 99 year, old govt. buildings were present there but they were not in use as they were built by the english govt. in the early 20th century. The construction was about to begin when Mr. Ijaz Ahmed leared of Lahore conservation authority asked the court to order LDA not to allow the construction as it would spoil the beauty of Mall Road. Now the colour of the building has changed, i hope it has been approved as it would further beautify the Mall road.

Waqas;

How does blue or green glass really help "preserve" surrounding areas ? Isn't the Mall Rd already getting so much other stuff too ?

Its_Waqas
January 7th, 2005, 05:51 AM
Yup its getting many buildings but no glass steel buildings, just brick. I think green will be much better than blue as it would match the surroundings and is also the colour of Pakistan.

Looks a bit like the WTC6 tower in Amsterdam:

Cymen,

I guess it does, but its because of the green colour that makes them both look identical. The glass on the WTC6 gives the highrise a rough look, but the PC Tower has a smooth feel to it.

The original glass colour for the PC Tower was Blue, but preservation groups claimed that the highrise would spoil the beauty in the area, so to blend the building in, and give it a much better look, they had to go with green.

Here is how the original was supposed to look;

Lahore has a "downtown" (if you want to call it that). It's Central Business District is Mall Road and the buildings there aren't very tall.

But seems like these new towers are popping up all over the place...mainly in Liberty Market!

lahores downtown is main boulvard in gulberg, not mnay high risers but some u/c. jail road next to main boulvard is also developing fast.

mall road just had goverment buildings, 2 5 star hotels and some shops and very little development happening there.
