The port is may be forced to replace the Gerard Desmond bridge as its pretty much falling apart. Below are the proposals. It would cost $700 million dollars. They are looking for iconic designs.

all of those are nice, but not very original in their design.

The red one. Everything else seems too.. it doesnt fit in with the surroundings. Looks like its getting a little ahead of itself.

Those bridges look too Japanese for America, especially Long Beach.

Don't tell me Caltrans is building this bridge, they already messed up the Bay Bridge. I wonder if thiswill go over budget. I like 3 and 4, good luck.

They should hire Calatrava to design it.....
I don't like any of the proposals, they look too ordinary

It's not earthquake-resistant. The reason suspension bridges work best is because they're very earthquake resistant.
That's another reason why they wanted to build the bay bridge the way they did.

Truss bridges are very strong, but are not very flexible, which is why they're not the first choice in California.
