A thread dedicated to all portuguese airport workers that able us all to cross the European Continent to the American and African ones in safety, since almost all world airliners cross portuguese air space, from continental Portugal to the Azores Islands westerly bond and to Madeira Islands south-westerly.

Paulo2004: You do realize that trans-Atlantic flights don't fly as far south as Portugal, the Azores or the Madeira Islands. The flight path from the US/Canada/Mexico to Europe goes very near Greenland, because with the earth's curvature its actually the shortest distance.

Here's the routing of a flight from Atlanta, USA to Frankfurt, Germany. As you can see, it goes nowhere near Portugal or its territories.

Thanks for the great pics.

Yes I know, but on a clear day where I live (central portugal) you'll see many planes flying over this country. Bear in mind that all flights from europe to South America use portuguese air space, not to mention those that operate to North America and Central America without non-stop flights ( and they are quite a lot) with usual stops in France and Spain.

I found some good pics and posted them in another thread. The photo's author is also member of this forum and when he saw them he immediately removed them from its original site.

Since then I have looked all over the net for other pics, but haven't found any.

I'm not quite sure about it, all Air France flights I took, none of them used Portuguese air space, actually the closiest of Portugal it passed was Santiago de Compostela.
of the flights were Sao Paulo to Paris and vice versa.

A way of promoting the country, I guess.

I heard it will be 4 times bigger than the actual one.
