View Full Version : Chevron complex! what do you think?
CULWULLA January 13th, 2005, 01:24 PM What does everyone think of the Raptis Groups SKYLINE TOWERS OF THE CHEVRON RENNAISSANCE?
heres a pic of the completed complex.
I feel the first one- SKYLINE TOWER (left) has the most complete look. Its the only one that ended up the same as its original drawing.
The 2nd one-SKYLINE NORTH _ far right) has a disappointing top. The original top and spire was to be 174m but it was left off and now is 158m.The 3rd and final tower- SKYLINE NORTH (middle) has a pathetic top. Its original 146m was scaled down to 138m and now 127m.

how does the massive podium work? Whats its interior like?
Macca-GC January 13th, 2005, 01:35 PM There is the shopping centre in the podium.
MrTall January 13th, 2005, 01:58 PM Wow, the complex as a whole is very impressive!
The tops of the 2nd and 3rd towers are disappointing and an exercise in cost-cutting. Big one looks huge though.
Macca-GC January 13th, 2005, 02:35 PM ^Very true. Apparently the pools are some of the best in the city.
They call it Beaches in the Sky or something to that effect.
citiboy January 16th, 2005, 12:32 PM a great tower complex--- shopping area very good i have eaten there quiet a few times. ---but we was robbed -------------with towers -2-3 bad tops . but at least it gives a cluster more llike a downtown area of towers .
Macca-GC January 17th, 2005, 04:43 AM ^True. I don't mind the top on Skyline North, but Skyline Central looks like it's still U/C.
SUNNI January 17th, 2005, 08:01 AM i think they look great!:D
Macca-GC January 17th, 2005, 02:05 PM ^Come on, you have to admit, Skyline Central looks terrible.
RADULA January 19th, 2005, 12:17 PM From the back skyline central looks the most impressive.
The podium is painted in awful colors on the surfers boulevard frontage. The architecture has this whole "fake" feel. Its so Gold Coast in the 1980's. IMHO...
The towers look impressive now but in a few years I think they might age badly, and will look crappy next to the beautiful and classy Circle on Cavill towers.
Malt January 19th, 2005, 12:27 PM the 2 biggest ones are ugly..
the smaller one on the left is quite nice though
GMAC January 20th, 2005, 12:30 AM I like tha podium, the towers are another story, but I like the podium. Its like its almost themed as if its in a theme park or something. Some of you may think thats bad but I think its suits the Gold Coast and keeps it fun. Sought of looks like it wouldnt look out of place on the beach in somewhere in California.
Ellatur January 20th, 2005, 02:06 AM very nice looking!
AG January 20th, 2005, 02:16 AM I'm glad I stayed in the best looking of those towers. :D
Cul, the base consists of a large shopping complex on the Surfers Paradise Blvd side and a large carpark on the Ferny Avenue side. All these towers are connected to both the carparks and the shopping area. Skyline Tower has an entrance from the ramp from Ferny Avenue and another entrance on the other side to the 2nd level of the shopping area.
The 5th floor is absolutely massive in area (the areas on top of the podium), lots of park areas, a few pools, and a lagoon. I should've taken some pics of that outdoor area while I was there. :( The 5th floor also links all three towers.
Extra, the view I had from Skyline Tower:

Danubis January 28th, 2005, 06:51 PM i think its turned out great, it was a massive project for them to undertake, especially when they started, there wasnt anything exceptional on the gold coast, guess we're just dissappointed cause of all the other cool stuff going on, but gotta remember, this project was probably the catylist for everything thats now happening on the gold coast. gold star. love it.
Orfeo January 29th, 2005, 03:31 AM The complex is pretty good, but I would have prefered that they maintained the original design for the 3 towers.
Macca-GC January 29th, 2005, 04:33 AM ^agreed
Trances January 30th, 2005, 09:42 AM Eww the towers are better lost !
Cheap and ugly devoid of style !
But yes i agree i love the podium and it really suits the gold coast
if only the same quality and intresting theme was shown in the towers above
TOCC January 30th, 2005, 02:32 PM i think the towers are alright looking. But when it comes to the podium/shopping centre down below, I think its awsome. I suppose its themed on the Miami beach side idea but it does look really good, inside they have stuck to a open mall them and have designed it to make it feel like your walking down a pedestrian mall not a shopping mall, cafes line mall and its covered in semi shade cloths/open roof
