This place is awesome

Its the best place in Ankara

I was here last summer and my mom said it changed a lot in 7 years

They have huge paintings on 4 different walls . they are about 20 meters across and 3 meters high and they show pictures of battle(different battles of our history) as well as battleground effects coming 2 meters away from the wall(soldiers, radios, trenches, etc etc) And there are sounds too. like gunshots, talking, war cries, artillery

There are also other paintings of other things throughout the battles

There are about 3-4 rooms of all his stuff and 2 rooms for his cars(he had 3)

For any child who is Turkish but lives in another country and does not know much about their Turkish history this place is the best place for them. Let those kids look around here for a full day and learn stuff and those kids will be proud Turks throughout their lives

Interesting, I didn't know Ataturk rested in a mausoleum.

Generally I am not a big fan of these structures, but I like this one much better than the one I visited in Beijing.

Anıtkabir is located on Anittepe (former Rasattepe) hill in Ankara. Anıtkabir memorial and museum is dedidated to the founder of modern Turkish state Gazi Mustafa Kemal (1881-1938).

Construction time: 1944-1953
http://img384.imageshack.us/img384/5618/summer20051493as.jpg

The period of the Turkish architecture, in between 1940 and 1950, is known as “The Era of Second National Architecture”. During this period mostly monumental, symmetry oriented, cut stone clad buildings had been built. Anıtkabir carries the same characteristics of this era.

Anıtkabir also has Seljuk and Ottoman architectural characteristics and ornamentation features.

The mausoleum with the dimensions 75 x 52 x 17 m. has a rectangular plan and surrounded by 8 columns at the front and near facades, and 14 columns at the sides, each one is 14.40 m. high.

Neden en kutsal ? Bence meslek.

Time Lord
April 27th, 2013, 10:07 AM
