Many skylines in there - it's hard to tell where the city begins and ends just like Tokyo - this is the reason I dislike it when it comes to attractive skylines IMO - 5/10

well said, sonie... yall have to understand that cities like Seoul and Tokyo are on whole another level than your average cities... I'm not saying that other cities suck but these are some of the world's biggest cities with density and sprawl matched by only few others in the entire world done the East Asian way... can't judge them by the stadards you would use on mid sized cities

Gotta give the city I was born in a high mark. :)

Seoul is one of the few world cities that's an almost perfect example of a true urban megalopolis. Few other cities can match its sheer size and magnitude.

Very nice city.
Just need a bit more high rises.
Skyscrapers are all around the city just like Bangkok and Tokyo.

Technically Seoul is one of the most dense city in the world along Sao Paulo and Mexico City. It has over 10 millions of population in just 600km2!

But however, the skyline is too scattered all over the city 'cause there's no actual CBD!

Right here Right now I think Seoul skyline deserves no more than a 6. Don't get me wrong, I love Seoul, I think it's the best city in the World and new skyscrapers are being built. But the skyline is so poor... It needs taller office buildings with nice tops and spires, needs to get rid of all the square boxy apartment clones that are blocking the river's view (in many parts they look like a huge wall from the river, terrible!) and HIDE ELECTRICITY AND PHONE CABLES!!!!! (the even make them longand tall enough to cross the Han river!!! it looks so 3rd worldish).

Still, Seoul is the best place to live. Doesn't have the best skyline, so what? It will someday, but meanwhile we're enjoying it.

Now, if you own a house in Soeul.. are they rich??

It depends, but generally yes. An average 3-bedroom apartment in Gangnam area costs about US$1mil. In Mokdong, it would be around $0.7mil., while in Boramae Park, it'd be about $0.4mil. The most expensive apartment in Seoul is I-Park in Samsung-dong, Gangnam District right beside the WTC, which costs about $2.5mil. for an average 4-bedroom unit, followed by Tower Palace III at $2.0mil.

If you own a "house", that's a diffrent world. An average four bedroom house can cost up to $3mil. in Ichon-dong, Yongsan District. A decent house may cost up to $5mil.

If you live in suburbia like Ilsan or Bundang, a decent four bedroom house costs around $0.5~1mil., sometimes up to $1.5 mil. An average commieblock apartment would be $0.3~0.8mil. Decent ones like I-Park and Chereville costs about $1mil. In Suwon, a city located 45km south of Seoul proper, an average house costs around $0.3 mil. and a 4-bedroom commieblock apartment costs $0.2~0.5 mil. In cities like Cheonan (100km south of Seoul) and Daejeon (130km south of Seoul), an average commieblock apartment costs around $0.15~0.4 mil. A house in Daejeon's Yusung district usually costs around $0.3~0.5 mil.

Seoul truely is a beautiful city, a little mix of every city put together in one. But I have to agree with others, Seoul needs to hide the phone and electrical cables, fix roads, and a few more things. They need to stop building so many residential towers and put in commercial. More business could be done and the skyline would increase 10 fold. I honestly think that Busan will have a much much better skyline. It's kind of like Germany. How Berlin is the capital, but Frankfurt is the city of business along with Berlin, but much more widely visited. I think that boom is starting to happen in Busan. I think its awesome. I also think Seoul is at a boom too. Everything is just booming, but mostly high rise living not high rise commercial(What they Need). The skyscrapers in Seoul are all over the place, and not just in once gernal area. So wherever you go not just on a waterfront, you will see high rise. But Seoul's high rise are mixed in with some dumps, and seem out of place. Should start in once gernal area and work from there...

Seoul is a nice city, but needs a lot of improvement. A LOT OF IMPROVEMENT. First of all, it's historical sites are mixed in with a lot of not so nice places. Needs to preserve these places better. The villas of Seoul and houses, need to go. They are ugly, and just make Seoul look filthy. Though they have very grand and elegant interiors, they make Seoul look atrocious. What they need to do is put more high rises in. Not so much residential, but some. Replace those ugly box apartments, though better than villas, those need to go to. All electrical wires need to be hiden. They are everywhere, and frankly they are a health hazard. Next Seoul needs to clean up some of the dirty streets and get rid of all the neon. When walking in other major cities, on the ground alls you see is high rise, not dirty streets with ugly buildings. Seoul needs a lot more commercial. It needs a lot more daring architecture. Look to China, they have the neatest architecture and so does Japan and Dubai. The U.S, no two buildings look alike. In Seoul the buildings don't have very out going architecture. Next Seoul needs to make the city hall area like the area in Paris. Next Seoul needs to repave all the streets. What they did in the U.S was repave most of the highways, major roads, and small roads. Next it needs to start with one area and boom it with skyscrapers. Like in every major city, not just a few but all, they have one area where it is skyscraper heaven. It's great to have them all over the city, but put a lot in one area. Like the Dok-Dong high rises. Next Seoul needs to make a suburbial area. Every major city has them, but Korea doesn't. It is those filthy ugly villas mixed in. They need to nice homes. Last, but not least, Seoul to fill the skyline with more high high skyscrapers, then some just high ones so the skyline just travels on and on, and doesn't stop. Seoul is a lovely place, but needs a lot of work...

MoneyBags

http://sajin.new21.net/zboard/data/gallery1/gbtbq7.jpg

That's what Seoul needs to do times, 100. And not just residential high rises, but a lot of commercial. Make the architecture daring, like China. And stop with building more than one of the same building. towers that look the same like 5 what Seoul is doing, is getting kind of old and boring. Even 2 or 3. Seoul also needs to fix it's streets so there can be beautiful boutiques that line repaved streets. Like those in Paris or Los Angeles. They also need to stop putting things like Gucci in malls, and put them in the public areas and reform from there. They also need to fix subway stations and beautify them. They also need to add a metro and widen lanes. I think Shindaegang and Dokog-Dong are where the money is. Mukyo-Dong, Yeoido, and Yeuksam have some potential. Actually Yeuksam doesn't really have much of any potential. And maybe Jamsil or Gangnam...

Seoul is of course the biggest city in South Korea, and the capital. It deserves a good score for being very successful. Mainly because the skyline of the city is crowded with buildings, and the city is a mountain side.
Seoul has way too many apartment buildings, and seeing the skyline makes it looks as if there is more apartment buildings than skyscrapers. The skyscrapers are ok looking but not one of the best, and non of them are that popular worldwide. But with the staggering skyline, it is very well placed in a good detail. I love this city too. 8.5/10.

Looks quite tame, and complemented by many commieblocks. I will only give it a 6,5/10 NOW, but I have a feeling it will look out-of-this-world in 10 years ;)

Hi, I'm an ex-pat currently living in Seoul.

It is an amazing city, with some truly beautiful towers and a population/building density that really can't be beat.

However, there are some really awful buildings too. If you walk about 5 minutes from the amazing architecture of Teheranno you can find some really hideous, characterless boxes with grimy, smog stained walls that look like they belong in Dhaka rather than ritzy Gangnam.

Still the buildings that are good, are great. Therefore I give the multitude of Seoul skylines a 9.0. Awesome city!
