Hi, good news for bahrain, enjoy:
Bahrain is to spend BD2 billion ($5.3 billion) on housing over the next 10 years, according to a report submitted to the UN.
This compares to a total housing expenditure of BD743.5 million between 1976 and 2002.
The BD2 billion will help pay for the construction of four new towns, which will be located in East Muharraq, in the north of Bahrain, East Sitra and west of Hamad Town.
Details of the 10-year housing budget are included in a report submitted to the UN's Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination by the government.
The report, which covers all aspects of life in Bahrain, will be discussed by the committee during its 66th session in Geneva from February 21 to March 11.
It contains both the sixth and seventh periodic reports of Bahrain, which were due to be submitted to the committee on April 26, 2001 and 2003 respectively.
Other countries that have submitted similar reports include Australia, France, Nigeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ireland and Nicaragua.
'The government of Bahrain has established as a firm principle that every Bahraini family that does not own a home and is unable to build one should be provided with housing,' says the report.
It says that between 1975 and 2002, 61,509 homes were provided to the same number of Bahraini families, which accounts for 66 per cent of Bahraini families in the country.-
