Wave completes Artécity land assemblage
The Wave Group Development said it has bought the final parcel to complete the land acquisition portion of its $80 million Artécity project on Miami Beach.
The Miami Beach-based corporation said it has closed on The Park Avenue Apartments, a four-building, 80-unit complex, on Park Avenue between 21st and 22nd streets, which Wave said will be the central land portion for its project.
Artécity is to feature 200 one-, two- and three-bedroom units, as well as townhouses. The company said it includes the Governor Hotel at 435 21st St., an Art Deco property.
Arquitectonica, Wave added, is designing the 210,000-square-foot property, which is to cover nearly a full city block.
"We are happy to have finalized our purchase so we can rapidly move forward with our plans for Artécity," said Alessandro Ferretti, Wave chief executive officer and managing partner.
Ferretti said Wave is working with major Miami Beach cultural institutions to finalize a partnership to include fundraising for the organizations, expanding their membership and sponsorship competitions.
"Our development project is in the middle of the cultural district and we believe that our residents will be buying at Artécity to be in close proximity to the Bass Museum, the Miami City Ballet, the Wolfsonian, the ArtCenter South Florida, the New World Symphony and the Jackie Gleason Theater of the Performing Arts," he said.
The development team, which includes Maurizio Cavalieri and Piero Salussolia, said it is studying and creating a strategy for sales and marketing. An on-site sales center is slated to open in the fall.
Restoration of the Governor, the group added, is scheduled to be finished in mid-2005 and the other portions of the project are targeted for completion between the end of 2006 and early 2007.
