Well, here's the other NIAGARA FALLS (New York, USA) for you guys. Yeah, it's skyline isn't like Ontario's, but hey, there's a fine collection of older buildings here if you ask me and this area certainly has a lot of potential after a bit of a sour economic time with Buffalo. Many of you guys know Niagara Falls as a world tourist destination (although not quite as happening as Ontario's), BUT with a new hotel underway at the new Seneca Niagara Casino and a new Convention Center, hopefully Niagara Falls, NY will pick up and benefit.

Niagara Falls, NY population is 55,000+ and is in the Buffalo Metropolitan Area of New York State.

The Skyline Shots

Here is a rendering of the new hotel to built on the current Seneca Niagara Casino site:

So the Niagara Falls, NY skyline will get a needed addition.

And what would Niagara Falls, NY be without the falls?

I'm giving it a 6, although the skyline may be small with a few buildings, yet nice looking ones and hotels, the falls and escarpment and parkland really give it a nice touch.

Although if that new hotel gets completed soon, I may make the skyline a 7.5. Because the hotel looks to be quite nice.

Must be a brief hot-air balloon tour or something over the falls. I think they have those.

Sparse, but I do love old tall buildings. Is that stained glass on the casino going to be torn down? If so, that sucks. I love stained glass.

Niagara Falls, NY gets a 6 from me.

The balloon is an observation device. On the American side of the falls it is difficult to see the beauty of the whole area as compared to the breathtaking view from the Canadian side. So some entrepreneur started this balloon ride which is teathered to the ground and goes up about 200 feet and then comes back down.

N. Falls is my hometown and it does not have a spectacular skyline. The leaders of the city wanted the American side of the falls to be more natural, and less like the Canadian side which will become one high rise hotel after another. The Canadian side will soon have a wall of 50+ story hotels that will ruin the natural beauty of both falls.

Even though I love big buildings and cities, Niagara Falls, NY is my one exception. I am glad that the leaders of the area have kept the natural beauty and moved all the development back from the parks that surround the viewing areas. Imagine if the Grand Canyon was completely ringed by hotels, motels, strip malls, and fast food restaurants. That is what is happening here!

To anyone reading this: In your lifetime go see Niagara Falls, it is beautiful!!!

I've seen a picture of NF NY floating around on this website, but I can't seem to find it....Basically it's the skyline at dusk with a deep blue sky illuminated by the lights from Canada.... by far the best one I've seen of the city...Post it if anyone knows which one it is.

Niagra is a really nice city but i think its unfortuante that the view of the falls from the American side is ugly becasue of the hideouse high-rise hotels on the Candian side in which i swear they build another one every year, just as ugly as the last..Therefore making the Canadian side viewing a little more pleasent.. (It's not fair is it...)

One this I wish is taht I could go back in time to before the Canadians ruined it with ugly hotels...I bet that would have been a beatiful sight.

Does Anyone have a picture of that one main street in downtown N. Falls that lives there or something?...these pictures dont do it justice

When I was in Niagara Falls, the old tall building had an interesting diamond shape neon sign on top, adding about 30 ft to the height. It's gone in these photos. 4

The Canadian city of Niagara falls also has 4 times the population of the American one. For a city it's size, the American N. Falls is pretty nice.

where do you get ur information. canada's niagra falls has 77 000 ppl. making it 22 000 ppl more, not 4 times there population.

but i like the skyline for its size hopefully people will start to move back.

LOL!! Someone is jealous of the Canadian Falls!! :hahaha: How sad is that?
I have been in Niagara Falls, New York, and its view of the American
Falls has absolutely nothing to do with the Canadian side. It is a quiet little
town, but pretty nice. 6

This myth always drives me nuts.

How is the American side more 'natural' than the Canadian? Both sides are lined with parkland; the Canadian hotels are situated above the bluff, a fair distance from the falls themselves, hardly more intrusive than anything on the American side (with the exception that they are visually taller). Besides that, the Canadian side is nicely landscaped and is very pedestrian friendly.

At least no part of the Canadian side of the Niagara river is lined with expressway, unlike the other side.

heres a great (unfortunately massive) aerial illustrating the relationship of both cities to the falls.

The Canadian side is better since there's more buildings and more height, but the buildings are tackier there imo.
