Qatar Navigation to build 52-storey tower

Qatar Navigation yesterday signed a contract with city-based architecture and engineering consultancy firm QN and MZ and Partners for the construction of a new, state-of-the-art tower near the City Center.

Tower would have 52 storeys and would be completed within 30 months. Construction work is scheduled to commence later this year.

The tower would be based over a plot measuring 13,516 square metres, with a total built-up area of 116,671 sq. metres and a basement car parking lot of 13, 516 sq.metres. The six-storey car park would accommodate up to 1,700 vehicles. The Tower would have 62,587 sq metres office space.

The building would have eight elevators to access the tower and four elevators for the car park.

from what i've seen so far. Qatar will build massive nice buildings.

I've read a small title about this but being that a 52 storey building will be built, but that was it. Tower looks sleek and nice.

Hill International Selected as Project Manager of 52-Story Navigation Tower in Qatar

Doha, Qatar -- Hill International, Inc., the worldwide construction consulting firm, has announced that a subsidiary company, Hill International (Middle East) Ltd., has been awarded a contract by Qatar Navigation Q.S.C. to provide project management services during the design and construction of the Navigation Tower in Doha, Qatar.

Construction on the foundation of the 52-story, 220-meter high-rise began in August 2005 and the project is expected to be completed by June 2008. The total built-up area of the tower will be 117,000 square meters and will include a six-story car park with space for up to 1,700 vehicles. The project will include 70,000 square meters of office space and 54,000 square meters of recreation area. The tower, being designed by MZ & Partners, will house the corporate headquarters of Qatar Navigation.

"Navigation Tower is a very important, highly-visible project for the country of Qatar," said Raouf S. Ghali, President of Hill's International Project Management Group. I think its under construction besides Dafna tower, since it was mentioned in the newspaper.

Cool addition suzan, towers always do look better on night renders :D The tower looks very slender on it, i wonder if it's an optical effect or just a very artisty version of it!

Yes its is under construction .... but before they never put rendering / perspective at their site.
Now due to may be Asian Games .... they have displayed new renderings .... i thought its not posted here ... so i made a new thread...

Its looking good, one complaint though the Glass isn't that tinted and you can see the concrete skin through it, hopefully they will paint the concrete to create a nice effect but at the moment the glass looks like it should have been darker or more reflective.

WOW !! that along with QPICO tower !! yes the car park is smart now the employ's are going to get parking without troubles and it will not affect the traffic in wast bay at all...
