Can some one please tell me what is the best program to use to create buildings?

And can you put some links to some so i can dowload it?

Elaborate. You want technical drawing, architectural presentations, interior views or maybe sim city kinda things?

Well, for technical drawing, at least in Spain, most architect use AutoCAD in any of it's versions.

Another programs, more specifics for architecure is Archicad.

This programs are normally used for the general planing. Presentations and 3D renders are always made with 3D Studio or their version specific for architecture 3D Studio Viz. (Autocad 3D is quite bad and don't have as many possibilities as 3D Studios, despite there are some small addons that bring to Autocad a lot of 3D possibilities)

Another program very used is Photoshop, mostly to edit 3D Renders and add effects that 3D Studio can't bring you.

For make buildings for Simcity, well, you need SimCity and Gmax ( a small but powerful version of 3D Studio)

There is no single "best" programme for drawings. Depends on what you need to achieve. We usually use a mixture of 2d drafting software, 3d modelling and rendering softwares and usually photoshop for the final touch up and layout.

plus, there's tons of programs used for the constructive side of the design. Depending on the complexity of the building, many different types of programs are used.

I can suggest the following 3d software:
ArchiCAD
VectorWorks
Revit
Form.Z
Microstation

Depends on the level of complexity of your drawings, if you want 3D visualisation the best softwares IMO are:

Microstation
Archicad
3D Studio Viz

I'm starting Archicad/Autocad this year as a subject at uni for the first time.

Can anyone point me to site/source of drawing files from real life projects?

I seriously don't think your usual architects will distribute cad files to anyone outside of the project.

ok well maybe some good cad samples of building projects i.e. from tutorials etc. ?
