I've heard that the modern day - as opposed to the Ancient Celtic - Galician Language has got a lot in common with that of Portugese (as you'd expect from close geographic proximity). Is Galician Closer to Spanish or Portugese? And as a language is Portugese as distinct from Castillian as other Iberian Romance Languages like Catalan?

A final question with seperatism agani a big issue in Spain, after Pais Vasco and Catalonia, Galicia is the next most indepent minded of Spain's Regions, which of these deserves the most independence, are the seperatists there hoping to increase ties with Portugal?

I'm not so sure everyone in those regions wants to be independent. Actually, from what I've heard they're only a small minority! I think most people are objective enough to recognise that they're best off as a whole great nation rather than several independent lesser states.

Spain is a country that soffers of identity problems. Cataluña, just to mention, wants to be independent very strongly. ETA is a consequence of that feelling!
I think in Galicia that`s not a problem...there are many people that would prefer to be independent or even to be added to Portugal but that`s not a recorrent question or problem...

In the past Galicians and Portugueses speacks the same linguage (GalaicoPortuguês), in the present Galician is more closer to Portuguese than castilian and Catalan but they are all romantic linguages the onli exception is Vaske (Vaske dont belong to ani groupe of western European linguages).
In relation to independence of Galicians/Catalonians/Vaskes Portugal is out of the question, wy dont suport ani separatists movements in Iberia, oficiali ofcourse.
Personly i prefer a big Spain than a lot of pour countries.

N esta assim tao imcompreensivel!!! Mas esses tradutores sao pessimos porque nao so as vezes escolhem a palavra errada como nao sabem o que e gramatica!!!

É, o Fern tem razão. Não te aconselho esses tradutores automáticos da internet, porque se limitam a traduzir as palavras, o que quer dizer que em expressões por vezes ficam ridiculas... (a coisa mais engraçada que eu já vi com 1 coisa dessas, foi num site com musicas, em que traduziam os titulos para varias linguas: então no portugues podias encontrar uma musica dos Queen chamada "Cool Cat" traduzida como "Gato Frio" ou o "Staying Power" traduzido como "Estadia Poder"... :lol: :lol:).
De qualquer modo, apesar do teu inglês não ser cristalino, está perfeitamente compreensivel! :okay:
