I think this project needs separate thread :)

So today was announced that development of the 28fl and 105m "Registrų centras" has been started. The landplot is already fenced and the the main construction works will begin in February :okay: The building is going to be partially occupied by a state owned company Center of Registers, the other space will be used for commercial purposes.

Render (thx to Geex)

That seems to be the main accent of high-rise constructions in Vilnius this year :)
I'll be waiting for new photos of the site! :D

Looks good! Once it's done it may very well be the nicest hi-rise in NCC. :) Vilnius gonna look awesome then. :okay:

Do you have more renders of that building? I hope it's not going to be orange, because I got sick of that color already :puke:

 Yesterday i have made few photos from the landplot of the Center of the Register. As you see, site prepatation works is under way. Few trees were lumbered out, because of the free space needs.

There you see the big picture of the landplot. In the right you could see already built municipal building. Now you could better imagine where exactly the new scyscraper of the Vilnius NCC (New city center) will be built.;)

Yes you right, there aren't any cranes currenty, but i hope to see them soon :bleh: :D (the crane mania shoud begin relly soon ;))
And about Municipality, it's because of his biger and major neighbour ;)
The picture was made from the same place as previous Municipality. I could imagine, how that place would look when the center of the register will be finished. :booze: ;)

Great news! Vilnius has already got an impressive skyline (for being S&B ;)) and this will make it even better. Oh, and is it just me or is the neighbourhood a bit...hm...depressing? :P

^^^
The neighbourhood is not depressing, it's a messed up shithole filled with old huts some of which were as old as from 1920's! It was chosen as the primary zone of development because it could not continue like this

Here's a picture of the whole area (the new tower will be in the middle just meters away :))

Some fantastic photos! Out of interest what does state company Registrų centras do? and is the building built with public money?

Some fantastic photos! Out of interest what does state company Registrų centras do? and is the building built with public money?
Center of Registers is a state owned company. As the name suggests it provides services of registers (all kinds of registering services - real estate registration, registration of various other properties).
As for the money, it's unclear with what money the building is going to be built, the Register company will occupy only 6 floors and the rest most likely will be for rent. Not much information we could find now.

Mantas

You really think that Tornimäe site is the same area as centers of registers? :D

Let's compare

as i understood from the render, the higher part of the center of the register should be built in that place where still some trees are growing, or forhaps a little bit in front of these trees. And a lower part should be built in the left, but what are they doing behind mentioned place? :hm: In the render there aren't anything.
And about the site area, when we compare Mantaz pictures, i think everything is clear. :D

ch1le
February 6th, 2005, 11:31 AM
Mantaz :) Yes they are about the same size, the pic of mine doesnt show the full size coz half of the site is blocked by houses... plus the site is incased with different buildings leaving a smaller feel... Were talking about 43 000 squre meters beeing put up on that patch of land.
better compare this to the one i pointed:
http://img198.exs.cx/img198/4249/ghj8dd.jpg

Its called perspective :), things look smaller further away :D :weirdo:

Indeed you have cut probably more than a half of area in the last pic. Try to look more careful, the areas aren't the same size and differs in a range of few times :|

Btw, the land plot of the register every day becoming more and more similar to the serious work - today the land is ploughed up and looks like after a serious bombing :D

Seems like 27 fl. office tower became a 32 floorer residential and a lowrise center of registers beside. According to the latest news, center of registers should go U/C on september. No news about tower though, althaugh there are some fresh renderings ;)

Actually I don't like it to be residential, because it should be a business district, not a residential :|

NorthStar77
June 1st, 2005, 10:01 AM
Well, I believe mixing retail, buisness and residential is good. A pure buisness district is dead after 5pm, while a mix isn't. A mix also reduces the need for transportation.

I feel good about the fact that they're going to build a residential instead of an office building. As Northstar suggested pure business districts are dead empty after work hours and that's a fact.
