penang is famous for its beaches, there are lot of resorts there and thousands of tourists visits penang beaches

most of the buildings will probably be hotels and apartments

I've been to the place few times for diving.
But the city itself is very disapointing.
Street level is very dirty and out of date(compare to where I am from Tokyo./Tokyo is so huge but every single places are extremely clean and mordern).

Penang, Good for diving and cheap food. But nothing more for me or for most japanese people.

Actually I dun think this is disappointing... I think Penang Skyline is kinda unique itself. In my opinion, I think Penang is a little better than KL, cuz it has beaches.

By the way, that was a fantastic pic, pablo, I love that very much. That's the one I talked about while ago.

Penang bridge is one of the most exciting features you could find in Penang. It took about 5 years to build and is 13.5 km long costing RM800 million that time and the current inflation is thrice bigger so it's nearly USD1 billion if you build it now. The bridge was officially opened in 1988. It's longest in Asia and fifth longest in he world. I love Penang and agree it's a great place to live. The older inner part of the city is ok and clean from my recent observations.

Doesn't have a fascinating skyline... the colonial buildings look really rundown.. Those apartments look modern and great but it just don't blend with the old buildings! Wondered why Melbourne's skyline could loose to Penangs surprisingly.

Eventhough I am a KL boy, I personally would love to live in condo in Penang. I just love cities by the seaside. The skyline of Penang actually looks breathtaking from across the Prai straits and the skyline at Gurney drive where the tall building are positioned along the coast is also beautiful.

Ditto Rembau! I totally agree with you...dunno why peope are so obsessed with the idea of concrete and glass blocks right up against each other...yea looks cool and neat BUT in reality....you can't see nothin but walls (when you're in the building). KL and Penang are awesome as you could still enjoy the parks below and see the world go by....from your cubicle..better than staring at walls of other buildings around you.
Miami is very much like Penang and KL even thi is is cathing up on the wall to wall syndrome and it even sucks as they are all residentials!!!! and you could see right into someone elses living room...or bedroom after paying couple million bucks...
