Recently returned from a trip in beautiful Warszawa. It's really neat, and the people are very very nice and polite. Funny thing, I'm writing these lines with my souvenir shirt from there :) Go Polska! 9/10 for Warszawa.

Europe lacks skyscrapers. But it isn't in Warsaw. Warsaw looks way too elegant at night than any other city I know in Europe besides Moscow. Beautiful districts, OMG it is like the best looking I have ever seen. This is European culture, I can't stand London's very little European taste and add a little futuristic basic building into it, and Paris seems to be all the same design buildings. No way that I can ever stand that. Warsaw is much more better looking. The skyscrapers are a good touch, very few might look old and not enough emphasis to attract people, but the rest is a tasteful project. Otherwise, Warsaw is a must visit if you are into Europe so much, very much so. If you are going on a Europe tour, go, I mean GO to Warsaw. 9/10.

Wow, I had always thought of Warsaw as a low-rise city. The above pics sure changed my opinion on Warsaw and even Poland. Looks kind of like Frankfurt.

I am definitely taking a trip there this spring.

The Palace of Culture is one of my favorite buidings in the world. The closeup pics showed nice street scenes, and the density is very pronounced after a closer look.

Height isn't so big a focus here, as much as the view of a city clearly on the move! A little Capitalism never hurt a city :yes:

I have great hope for Poland, a Western nation finally allowed to be free! And Warsaw will lead the way.

the evolution of the warsaw skyline in the past few years is impressive. I wouldn't call warsaw beautiful, but it certainly is very exciting in terms of city development. walking down central warsaw's streets gives u the feeling of walking in a european metropolis.

Warsaw, being european, is a city I you'd not think of as a skyscraper place... But I find the skyline well-balanced and nice, even if it's not great in height. Besides, I actually find myself liking stalinist scrapers (without declearing my love for the originator ofc). So I guess it's 6,5/10

Quick question. What's going on behind the "POUSA" barrier in the last photo by rcube on Jana Pawla II between Rondo 1B and the Holiday Inn ?

How about the Kamienica on the NW corner of Jerozolimskie and Emilii Plater ? In some other photos, I've seen some scafolding around it. There was also talk recently about someone wanting to dismantle it. Hopefully, they are just doing restoration and reconstruction of past details.

It's not 'POUSA' but 'POLISA' - it is old wall painting (from the communism era). There is some space between this wall and the pavement and there are plans to build there some small thin office buidling.

Looks nice from some angles and not so nice from other, definitely needs more density but that will come with time, there are several proposed and approved towers that should break ground this year.

BTW Chopin - As he had requested, Chopin's heart was taken to Warsaw and placed in the Holy Cross Church where it remains entombed today. It survived Warsaw Uprising 'cos of polish priest who decided to hide it.

Considering what this city went through over the last 60 years, we should be proud of what it looks like nowadays.
Every building has it's own unique style but they all happen to fit to one another somehow. I believe that's what makes this skyline perfect!

And just imagine. Hole city was planted:
1939 - German-Polish War
1943 - Jewish uprising and burning ghetto (1/4 of the citycenter)
1944 - Polish uprising
1944-45 - burning and demolishing abandoned, empty city by Germans
1945 - Russians is coming with Katiusha
1945-1990 - destroying beautiful buildings which were too bourgeois

Thats why Warsaw doesn't look like Budapest or Prague and that's why it has such skyline.

Nice skyline, much better than I expected, but for sure its not a worldclass skyline maybe even only a midclass europian skyline. But its still nice and I really want to visit Warsaw once: 6.5/10

9 Cant believe what im seeing. Totaly unexpected.

You mean The Palace Of Culture And Science?

The problem is in it's historical connotations - for many Poles, especially older and those from Warsaw, it's a symbol of soviet occupation between 1945-1989 (you may not know, but the Palace, although built with polish money, was designed by a soviet architect, and was named The Palace Of Stalin. Moreover, a whole district of the city centre was destroyed to make place for it)

The architecture of The Palace is a matter of discussion - some like it (not only fans of skyscrapers - it is a piece of good "socialist realism" architecture, has great interiors and stonework, and it is actually one of the symbols of Warsaw), others don't like it (mostly those who don't appreciate highrises in Warsaw at all).

Not much of skyline, but looks really great, hope there are more supertall coming!
