Well that first picture kicks ass! From ground level I have never noticed this really cool view before, although I have been in Warsaw a couple of times! Excellent so this is gonna be a 9!

Another point I would like to mention is that all the "old" buildings are newly build after being destroyed by the Germans and Russians in WW2. I think they (the polish with rebuilding) did an excellent job!

Now I'm proud to be born in this city! ;-)

But Warsaw has many urban problems, the city doesn't care enough for uran planning and many good skyscrapers are being built outside the strict city centre. If that was not so, this city would have had an even better skyline...

reminds me of london minus canary wharf to be honest, but i love the palace of culture there - one of my fave skyscrapers. very european, lots of spires and rather spread out too. i give it 7 - 5/5 for character and history, and 2/5 for density and height.

warsaw need a lot of work in the center of the city.there are many ugly and low socialistics residentials.in past 10 years capital made a huge progress.city is groving and changing every year and has a lot of free space for skyscrapers in downtown.many scrapers are U/C and many more approved so i think warsaw has the biggest potential in europe, especially after join UE.

I am giving 8/10 - I love my city but I know that it needs many improvements. It's developing very fast so maybe in 10-15 years I will give 11/10 ;)

But don't think that there are only skyscrapers which are interesting to see in Warsaw. I personally really like Warsaw parks:

Hmm, appeals does not lie on the number of buidlings or its density but by its magnificent architecture of the buildings. I particularly like the shophouses and pathways, very well designed and decorated. Gives me an expression of a very relaxing and slow-pace city, I'm not sure if i'm right though. Anyway, great city, I give 7.5/10

So many pretty photos. I like this town. There's a variety of architectual styles too, modern mixed with historic. Pretty spread out, but it looks like that will change with all the new developments. Looks like a fun place to visit.

This is an awesome city. It is full of life and very exciting. The fact that it was completely destroyed only 60 years ago and now is fully rebuilt and growing rapidly is amazing. Warsaw is the pride and joy of Poland and the Polish people. I love this city and I hope it has an excellent future with many skyscrapers. 10/10

I am giving 8/10 - I love my city but I know that it needs many improvements. It's developing very fast so maybe in 10-15 years I will give 11/10 ;)

But don't think that there are only skyscrapers which are interesting to see in Warsaw. I personally really like Warsaw parks:

yeah from the rest of the world warzaw is nothing unique or special in skyscrapers, compare it with any american city or asian, it's way way behind you have to accept that even thought you got beautiful parks ;)

anyway kommandant
are you saying that warzaw has more beautiful people than asian?? haha what kind of talk is that?? I think asians got more beautiful people than warzaw for sure (anyway that was kinda low talking). castles and stuff yeah you got more beautiful castles because we don't have much castles but temples asian cities got more beautiful because you don't have temples that was a silly thing to compare. If you wanna compare technollogy asians are way ahead as well. The asian food is a lot more tasty than what you guys eat in warzaw :D

Warszawa was destroyed in the last war so it is free for new buildings. That's an advantage of such a misery. It's much morw difficult to build something in London, Rome, Wien or Riga. I mean you can't build a scyscraper in the middle of art nouveau districts, renessaince palaces or medieval old town. You can build the buildings outside of the historic center as it is done in Paris, but in many cities iinvestors dont like their scyscrapers to be somewhere in outskirts.

For its urban look warszawa deserves 10 points to compare with other european cities. For its historical quarters 4 maybe.

Definitely ahead and in a better conididtion than Berlin and its skyline and cityscape seems better than many other German cities.A lot of contruction and modernization going on.Uniqque blend of new and old. Just give Warsaw 10 more years and everything will dramatically change, the economy and its competitiveness with the level of Frankfurt etc. For now, I think its skyline is better than that of Berlin, they also seem very alike with their commie blocks.Way to go, 10 points for me.

Unfortunately, the "0" level of the city is in worse condition than in Berlin. Berlin started to care a lot for its squares and streets. There are many beautiful squares in Warsaw, but most if them are used as car parks only with small, ruined pavements, and no public space, no fountains, no place to sit...

The public investments concentrate on bridges, expressways - and there aren't enough money left for public spaces in the centre :-(

Yeah , It is main problem of Warsaw. The infrastructure for pedestrans in really bad condition. Acctually sitation is getting better at the moment , but mostly thanks to private enterprizes. I hope Authorites of warsaw will notice this problem at last!!!

Although the situation is getting better, there's a lot to be done. I agree, Warsaw builts great buildings but they exist like a separated islands of luxury among grey reality. I think, City Center must be renovated, sooner or later.. There is no place for street trade, unlimited adwerts on the walls, and dirty streets. All must fit together, it's a standard, not a vainity...

I know what you mean, and I agree with you. There are already quite big number of modern building, but details)like pavements, city lights or advertisments represent still poor level. I ve noticed that situation is getting better , but there is still long way to be perfect!!! In the case of details Warsaw is far behing other European capitols , even When I looked at Kiev's photos , I felt envious!!!

for the skyline 9/10, that's what i love the most in warsaw, but on other hand i hate the urban chaos that has dominated the city.paradoxically this can be something very worth seeing, because it somehow is what's most unique in warsaw.like few people said on this thread, there is still a poor quality of the ground level, i think it's the issue that needs the most improvement. And there's also an amazing fact that the purest center area of downtown is i guess the least occupied by buildings downtown in europe.that's the area around the palace of culture, which now is an empty field with some temporary market halls that look really uncool. however this is the area that has the brightest future coming up.the authorities are finishing the master plan for that. it's most awaited issue in urban strategy for warsaw.the plan is going to develop the most prestigous area in the city as it once was before last world war(paradoxically at that time this was the most dense part of the town).the bad news about all that is that among all the new buildings there's no room for skyscrapers, wich i think doesn't work well in that area. i guess the only way to clean up that urban chaos is to change the surroundings of the palace of culture into a district full of towers. on the other hand however i'd be glad of anything fullfilling the empty field here on one condition only: it needs to be a top class architecture , wich i suppose is really possible and awaited....

Definitely one of the better skylines in Europe, but it has some work to do. The height is good as is the diversity of architectural styles. But the skyline also suffers from some ugly block architecture and lacks density. Fortunately, it continues to grow and develop. Many of these newer buildings are helping to provide a refreshing temperament to the skyline.

7.0/10.

9 / 10. My girlfriend is from Warsaw.

I don't get there that often - maybe twice a year since I moved to Europe in 2000. Each time, there seems to be a couple of new skyscrapers going up like rockets - particularily after Poland's accession to the EU ( May 2004 ). The skyline has not yet passed Frankfurt's proportions but it certainly will in the next 2 to 4 years.

Unfortunately, though, Warsaw is not a city with a wealth of nightlife ( Krakow is THE place in Poland for that! ) this is largely due the cost of living / earnings of the average Warsaw resident. I am really lucky when I am in Warsaw - Polish hospitality is the warmest anywhere. If you happen to know somebody there, you will be welcomed into their home like a king!

Recently returned from a trip in beautiful Warszawa. It's really neat, and the people are very very nice and polite. Funny thing, I'm writing these lines with my souvenir shirt from there :) Go Polska! 9/10 for Warszawa.
