The theatre. It was probably built by king Philip II around the middle of the 4th century B.C. In the 2nd and 3rd centuries A.D. large-scale rearrangements and additions were made so that the thatre's function could face the needs of the performances of the time

The walls and the acropolis. The line of the walls begins at the top of the hill and it surrounds the foot of the hill and part of the valley below. The structure has two architectural phases: the first was built by Philip II and the second by Justinian I in A.D. 527-565. Inside the acropolis there is a tower dated to the Late Byzantine period.

No. The Turkish area is Eastern Thrace, and that borders the Greek area Western Thrace, and Western Thrace borders Greek Macedonia.

Alexander21 January 27th, 2005, 06:21 AM My cousins live in Macedonia, but just my luck they live in the mountains no where near the sea! Oh well... next time I go I am definetely going to Chalkidiki and Paralia looks quite nice as well..... but the capital of Macedonia, Thessaloniki, is where it all happens. And now with the metro going to be built it will become a very modern city indeed!
Arpels January 27th, 2005, 12:46 PM Thanks for the pics of Samothraki island Alexander :okay:, very beautiful, i see that you have a colony of seal's in this island (Monachus-Monachus), we have a colony of seal's too in a small group of islands (Desert islands close to Madeira) in the Atlantic protect bi law but they are almoust extint :(
