View Full Version : trumptoronto, listen up.
Mr Man January 24th, 2005, 05:37 AM A little bird on a tree told me that Stinson is at it again and is going to pass Trump Tower Toronto's 325 metre height, not just with the extension of the spire either. Better tell your boss to be prepared to ante up unless Trump doesn't care about having the Canada's Tallest Building title. :wink2:
omersheikh January 24th, 2005, 09:08 AM i thaught u left, its good that u reconsidered
omersheikh January 24th, 2005, 09:11 AM but its good to hear the war is still on, since you been good source on this project, this is good news hear.
valantino January 24th, 2005, 04:39 PM I'll wager that trumptoronto and sapphiretower were one guy crying for attention. Does this have anything to with Stinson aquiring the 10 storey office building next to the Sapphire site and the new plan to build conventional parking facilities? I would think Trump is more interested in actually building than continuing to compete for the country's tallest proposal especially when sales figures for both towers aren't exactly exceptional
Istrian January 24th, 2005, 04:45 PM Btw, I have been told from the sales office on Richmond street that
construction of Sapphire will start in june, although I have SOME
reservations about it.
But it would be great...
urbanspy January 24th, 2005, 05:42 PM The building plans looks nice. But the location sucks. It will be smack between the BMO - First Canadian Place and the Scotia Tower, (currently the 1st and 2nd tallest in Canada)... it is so close the the Scotia building and they will detract from each other. The design do NOT compliment each other at all... pity
punkstarbassist101 January 24th, 2005, 06:06 PM Hey first off its good too see Mr Man that you're staying at ssc. Now as for sapphire being even higher well it will just increase the height too width ratio. However, they should start building soon.

Did they happen to mention which year, or just the month?
jonovision January 25th, 2005, 01:09 AM Great news. It would be nice if the war continued until both buildings were tall enough to get significantly above the surrounding buildings. For instance if the ball on saphire poked out above the current skyline.
CrazyCanuck January 25th, 2005, 01:16 AM I'm not going to get greedy heer but I agree. Both buildings are high enough to quench my thirst but trump is going to create a plateau between Scotia and BMO. I saw the infomercial with harry Stinson last weekend, he seems to have done his math, and I must say i'm in love with the high park loft atrium.
Wildchild January 25th, 2005, 02:38 AM :bleep: can we please just see the construction start on both of these projects. I'm tired of all the talk. SHUT UP AND START DIGGING!
DanfromTO January 25th, 2005, 02:51 AM I agree
BlackFlag January 25th, 2005, 04:07 AM Ah, Mr. Man, good to see you haven't left.
Well, a Sapphire height increase would be fabulous- when should we expect some official announcements?
Lucky 24 January 25th, 2005, 04:30 AM Excellent....thank your little birdy for me Mr. Man. I wonder if this is just a height increase on the main tower or if both the main and smaller tower are getting height increases?
Byron January 25th, 2005, 04:42 AM It doesn't matter how big the numbers are on paper, if you never get around to building the damned thing.
I would gladly sacrifice 50 ft. from each building to see them completed in 2008, instead of 2009 (I'm speaking figuratively since I don't know the dates).
Homer J. Simpson January 25th, 2005, 05:00 AM Although Mr.Man is a great source, I somewhat doubt that anything substantial could happen. Seriously, it seems to me that both towers were being hassled by the OMB with the height restrictions ealier in developement and I can't see the OMB granting any extentions.
PS: I'm like the tenth person to say this but its good to see that you haven't given up on us Mr.Man

It's the city which is giving Trump and Stinson a hard time. The OMB wrote the most glorious review for Trump; they love it!

More info coming soon. You didn't really expect Stinson to give up the fight with only 5 metres difference did you?
Homer J. Simpson January 26th, 2005, 06:02 AM ^My mistake.
And it does seem foolish and premature to end the battle with "only 5 metres".
schmidt January 26th, 2005, 06:03 AM Hm if I were you I'd be already happy if both towers actually went up.
Mr Man January 26th, 2005, 06:06 AM ^ True. lol
