Visbyis an old town that for a while use to belong to the hansa(germans). It's located on the island of Gotland which is one of two big limestone islands in the Baltic Sea. It's a cute little town.

It depends on where you are.
In northern sweden you got the red wooden houses and further south they're yellow, and in the most southern part they're white

Quite some ruins in Visby. Isn't the towns overrun by tourists btw?

Swedes should be very happy to have islands: Gotland and Oland.
We in Poland must be happy with our small coast islands Wolin and Uznam:/
I must visit Swedish islands. I was travelling by ship between Scandinavian Peninsula and Gotland and I see both Gotland and Oland from ship, but it's not the same as visit them by foot:)

We are! many swedes/finnish have given their lives for the islands, but that was more then 200 years ago, thankfully! You know just outside The wall of Visby a terrible battle was fought some 700 years ago. Danish knights against farmers from Gotland. The peasents had no chanse. It was a real massacre.
every sumer they hold a medieval week on Visby. The whole city gets medieval, everybody wear medieval cloths, almost everybody.

Seems to be a lovely, small old town. I liked those ruins the most. This is something you can't find in Finland. :cheers:

The lime stone is very heavy, so the landscape seems dead but there are orchids everywhere.. You find things there that only grow there.
