list your top 5 cities in Indonesia and your reason why

Mine:

1.Batam (nice landscape and city with great future)
2.Palembang (City where energy and electricity are surplus and good enviroment too)
3. Malang ( Fresh air and i think its clean)
4. Semarang (Hot but this is the city where geopolitical is very stable within 30 years)
5. Jakarta for the skylines and the cosmopolitan

btw.. thanks for visit my web. Medan with 2.5+ million people rightnow. maybe reach 3.0 million ppl in day. Because medan have some satelite city like Binjai city, Tebing ( Deli serdang ). who take a job in Medan city.

Thanks for the compliment for Surabaya! However, what I heard recently is that other cities such as Medan and Makassar is catching up with Surabaya in terms of economic development very rapidly. I hope that Surabaya can develop in terms of economic activity and infrastructure to be somewhere nearer to Jakarta.

Hi mohamed, there are pics of other cities like Medan, Surabaya, Bandung, Batam, etc. but they're limited to certain threads. You can find them in the Project section if I'm not mistaken. Look out for thread that begins with[Medan] ... or [Surabaya] ... . Anyway, why we dont have enough pics of other cities is because most of the members are residing in Jakarta or overseas. Cheers,

it could be good if you can post more street level photos from other cities . is there any new construction going on in surabaya and batam( i think it is a free zone right?).

In no particular order
* Semarang. Too bloody hot, but i love the cosmopolitan vibe, excellent food, the old city, the new part of town (simpang lima), proximity to some of Central Java's beauty, and its stability.
* Jogja. Artistic, relaxed, yet aware of its history and culture. Beautiful countryside around it. Will be there in 10 days -yippee!
* Ambon. Not just Ambon but all of Maluku. I was there once, but before the Troubles. Beautiful city with great atmosphere. I wold have loved to have seen it before it was bombed in WW2.
* Jakarta. Need i say more?
* Bandung. Some great architecture, again surrounding countryside, good universities. Artistic

Where would i chose to live if have choice? Semarang or Jakarta but visit the other three any time.
WHat cities would i like to visit? Manado sounds great - so too Makassar.

Semarang - Cultured City , the Harmony blend very well btween the chinese and native cultures
Tangerang - My Home Turf , the place i called hometown, mostly bcoz i know my way around to the prime spots for eating and hangout.
