International workshop
‘High Rise Buildings 2005’
The public evening lectures on March 8th are part of the fifteenth annual international workshop ‘High Rise Buildings’ which is organised within a joint curriculum of both the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Delft University of Technology.
During this evening two prominent specialists on high-rise building subjects will give their lectures:
Roberto E. Meyer, Architect of Meyer & Van Schooten Architecten b.v. and Designer of ING Group-Headquarters in Amsterdam, will give an explanation about the development of the high rise project ‘New Babylon’ in the Hague.
Dennis C.K. Poon, PE, Managing Principal of Thornton Tomasetti Engineers and Designer of world’s tallest high rise tower ‘Taipei 101’, will discuss several subjects concerning high rise buildings.
Beside the lecture, Dennis Poon will join the workshop ‘High Rise Buildings 2004’ and advise the student teams on their projects during one week of the workshop.
There will also be a short presentation of the results of the workshop ‘High Rise Buildings 2004’. The workshop was for students of Delft University of Technology and Erasmus students from across the world. Two designs are already nominated for the award of ‘High Rise 2005’. Three more will be nominated at the end of today’s workshop. The total award of €4000,- sponsored by Techniplan Adviseurs b.v. will finally be divided under the three best integrated designs for a high rise building.
These lectures will be held in room A at the Faculty of Architecture in Delft (Berlageweg 1, Delft), are free of charge and accessible for all who are interested in high rise buildings.
