Date complete: 1912
Floors: 12
Unique features: Winnipeg's tallest building for two years until completion of Hotel Fort Garry in 1914. Base is composed of grey marble, remainder of exterior is white terra cotta. Original cornice removed in 1953, replaced with much simpler cornice in 1985.
Style: Chicago School

Jeff from Winnipeg December 29th, 2002, 07:46 AM It's one of my favourite buildings from the era in the city so I gave it a 9. I mean, the detailing on this building is a thing to be appreciated. I wish I could find close-ups. You won't see too many buildings like this left in Western Canada.

Andy6 February 24th, 2003, 05:57 AM 9.5/10. One of my favorite buildings anywhere. A great example of a smaller Chicago-style building. The white terra cotta detailing is superb and the proportions of the slender tower are almost perfect, despite the unfortunate replacement of the cornice.
