I admit Chicago is almost everything a skyscraper fan would ever ask for (excluding a bit creativity probably). But architecturally it is a bit overrated IMHO. I live here, and I often have to wonder if all buildings going up have been drawn by the same architect. Little experimenting takes place here. Just the conservative stuff.

A skyline pioneer that deserves nothing less than a 10. Also, having one of the world's tallest structures automatically brings it above a 9 (now don't go saying "If the Sears Tower were placed in Fargo, would you give that skyline a 9 too?" You know what I mean!).

What a skyline! :master:

one of the best skylines in the world...if that first pic doesn't convince you nothing will!!...and it's still growing!....70 some odd buildings over 500 ft/152m is nothing to sneeze at....i've always loved Chicago's skyline...impressive....10/10.

this is an unquestioned 10 in my opinion. chicago is second only
to NYC in terms of the story of the skyscraper and the skyline. it
is one of the originators of the form. doing something first, while
the rest of the world merely imitates you, still counts for
something. sometimes you just can't beat an original.

chicago is an original skyline, and it most definitely is a 10/10.

December 28th, 2002, 07:16 AM
its certainly impressive in size but i dont like it very much. although the culmulative effect of the buildings is awe inspiring as is the size look at them - they are mostly concrete or glass boxes with little inspiration or imagination. the general standard of quality is comparable to the dreary heron quays buildings in canary wharf. imagine that for the whole skyline with a couple of black box peaks... no thanks. frankly its overrated with the likes of new york, hong kong and shanghai winning hands down with me. at least they have plenty of imagination. its also ironic to read people talking about the history, youre looking at a city that invented skyscrapers and yet demolished many of its earliest examples to build those dreary blocks im complaining about.

Steely Dan
December 28th, 2002, 09:32 AM
gothicform, what you find to be "dreary boxes" i find to be limitless beauty. there is something about the box that captures me, draws me in, fascinates and bewilders me. yes, the box is disparaged as boring and unimaginative by most of the clowns on these skyscraper forums. i understand that, i have come to accept the fact that, for whatever reason, the "masses" don't seem to like boxes.

whatever, the box is good, the box is pure, the box is true. the box represents everything that i love about architecure- stripped down, unadorned, unencumbered with the needless aspects of "wacky" design for "wacky" design's sake. i like purity of form. it is timeless, it is indeed classical. maybe not in the way that we think of roman arches or corinthian columns, but the masterworks of the international style are going to hold up very well against the standard of time.

oh, perhaps 50, 100 years after the fact, with everyone drawn immediately to whatever new-fangled contraption of form is the soup de joure long since past, these so readily defiled "boxes" will be seen in their true light with the proper perspective of time. they will be hallowed as masterworks of pure genious, the outgrowth of minds that weren't afraid to think simple, and streamlined and sterile.

yes, the box is not "popular" right now. but in due time, i am convinced, these internationalist buildings will become incredibly revered. the reason is because they don't rely on gimmicks or tricks, there is no phoniness about what they are. they are honest, they are true, and they are good.

long live the box, the most classical of all skyscraper building forms.

gothicform
December 28th, 2002, 05:10 PM
you like boxes because they are modernist. you criticise post modern architecture but dont realise that many of these "new fangled" buildings - swiss re for instance - is everything that you love about architecure - stripped down, unadorned, unencumbered with the needless aspects of "wacky" design for "wacky" design's sake. it doesnt rely on gimmicks or tricks, there is no phoniness about what they are. they are honest, they are true, and they are good.
to build a box is to lack imagination, to build 70boxes is nothing short of disasterous, you can do everything youve mentioned without ever doing a box. take a look at what is going up in european cities, the likes of turning torso or swiss re and you'll see what i mean. we can have pure forms, we can make them beautiful and individual.

Rainier Meadows
December 28th, 2002, 10:31 PM
British architects of yesteryear would consider an unadorned or stripped down facade blasphemy - Oxford University, Parliament are just mere examples of the architecture the British are accustomed to (or spoiled by ;) )! So I don't blame them for snubbing the "box"

gothicform

Well, for 60's-70's modernist disasters I'd say greater London has it's share.

I hear what you're saying about Chicago having lots of boxes, but your claim that "the general standard of quality is comparable to the dreary heron quays buildings in canary wharf" just tells me that you've never set foot on Chicago soil.

Don't get me wrong, I would never put Chicago above London for overall architecture (I've lived in both cities), but Chicago has so much more going on than boxes.

gothicform
January 2nd, 2003, 06:15 PM
i spent three months in schaumburg in 97 so i do know chicago quite well. i agree with you, on the ground chicago does have much more than boxes but in term of the skyline it doesnt as they overpower the chicago skyline. i find now that the chicago skyline doesnt look very up to date, it looks like a big 70s skyline, its best seen at night i think where the boxiness gets lost in the deluge of lights :)

I love how there's always a troll who will give a city like Chicago or New York a "3 or less rating"

What people don't realize is that both of these cities have more great architecture than you can see in a "skyline shot". Also, they're both cities whose skylines have been growing for over 120 years!

You see "boxes" because the age of the supertall skyscraper in the U.S. was the late '60s, early '70s, when boxes prevailed and Sears, Aon, Hancock, and the WTC were all built. There's more than enough interesting architecture in Chicago. There are old buildings along the Michigan Avenue wall by guys like Louis Sullivan. Hell, he created the Chicago School of Architecture- not an actual school, but a design style which, to an extent, still dominates what our idea of what a skyscraper is today. Chicago has one of the most extensive collections of buildings by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe anywhere (although if you hate boxes you wouldn't like his work). And it has more than its share of great post-modern architecture (the Thompson Center and Sofitel Hotel being two of my personal favorites).

You also have to build skyscrapers that don't clash with the city. If the Tapei Financial Center was built in Chicago, it would make Chicagoans vomit. And there are certain styles that work in tropical environments that wouldn't work in a Northern climate.

I'm always surprised, as well, by the extent to which people are impressed with gaudy neon lights. It's seems like you could put neon pink/green/blue/red/yellow/orange/purple lights all over the skyline of Tulsa, OK, and people here would love it.

Only time will tell if the "cool looking" buildings going up in Asian cities will be considered great or even decent architecture in 50 years time. I'm inclined to believe that most of them won't be.

Chicago has an amazing skyline. I remember flying into Chi-town and the plane did a 360 from the south around the downtown area over the lake and then we landed at O'Hare. I was on the left side of the plane so I got to see the entire skyline right there in front of my eyes, I was totally mesmerized. The mix of really tall box buildings and then a number of older historic buildings, and the lakeside location with the Chicago river and its bridges winding through it, make this skyline one of my favorites. I give it a 10!

That's what makes a great skyline: it's more than the sum of its parts. You could have the same buildings, but not arranged so perfectly, and it would not be as great of a skyline. Not as many skyscrapers as New York, but spaced perfectly to form a whole, and still be admired individually (although like New York, there are many beautiful buildings that are crowded out and can't be appreciated unless you're right across the street).

Though the skyline is plagued by many ugly boxes from 50's, 60's and 70's (though I like Hancock and Sears, stuff like the Aon Building is disastrous)... it has so much great old architecture... it was really the inventor of skyscrapers... amazing collection of pre-WW2 buildings... and the city has some fantastic po-mo buildings as well... and the height is stunning... great density

OOPs made my vote but forgot to give my thoughts.

This skyline is only second to NYC. It is so beautiful and has the history to boot. It has it all- height, variety, history, scenery and density!!! It is really amazing and the only other city (other than my home town) that i gave a 10. For those that agrue about HK i cant hear them. Chicago's skyscrapers look 'real' and less artifical and cheap IMO. I love, like someone stated seeing the development of the skyscrapers from the early beginnings, the 60, 70's boxes (which i like btw they really give a sense of a 'Monolithic ' structure) and the apparent 80's influence in the Sears.
This skyline has it all!!!

Although I do love NY, I really prefer Chicago in the end. Apart from cultural differences, there are several reasons why I prefer Chicago.

1. I think the setting along Lake Michigan is nicer than Manhattan's in NY Harbor. Next to Chicago is an enormous body of water, while Manhattan is mostly surrounded by narrow stretches of water, and then the other boroughs. Granted, I love the view of Lower Manhattan from the Statue of Liberty, but only Lower Manhattan can be seen. From a boat on Lake Michigan, one can see the entire length of Chicago's skyline, from the Indiana border all the way, if its a clear day, to Evanston and Wilmette. Its overwhelming how beautiful it is.

2. Chicago is a better setting for skyscrapers. NY's great scrapers are often hard to pick out among the other buildings. The island is so dense that, while the tops of some buildings can be seen (from the Brooklyn Bridge, for example), thats about all you will see. The scrapers are essentially "drowned" in a sea of not-as-good scrapers. Chicago is not as dense as Manhattan, so buildings can easily be picked out in a skyline view. Furthermore, it is easy to get views of many of the buildings from top to bottom from a distance. For example, its hard to find a view of the Empire State Building equivalant to this one of the John Hancock Tower:

http://www.richmangalleries.com/images/John-Hancock-Chicago.jpg

There are also some hard-to-describe differences in the overall feel of the city, so I'm not gonna try to explain them. Also, in terms of quality of life, I like that its possible to own a home in Chicago, or very close to it, for a fairly reasonable price. I like apartments and all, but in the end, eventually I'll probably want a house, and some of those in Evanston look pretty nice...

The one huge thing Manhattan has on Chicago is this: New York is cold in the winter, but Chi-town is DAMN cold. It hurts to be outside on some winter days in Chicago.

So, in conclusion: NY and Chicago are both great, but I like Chicago slightly more. Its not surprising to me that some people like New York more, of course. Its just like Annie Hall vs. Manhattan. Its a matter of taste. :D

And in the winter, I like any Southern city better than either :)

It's stunning! I went to Chicago a couple times as a little girl, but I don't remember seeing so many beautiful buildings.

The architecture is amazing, the balance of the skyline is great, and the number of beautiful tall buildings are incredible.

This skyline is growing on me. I give it a 9.5 or 10, just behind NYC.

Now, most of our unique and creative architecture is no longer unique, since it has been emulated around the world, but you're off your rocker.

Great point. Chicago is, in many ways, the Cradle of Modern Architecture. The original Modernist buildings dont seem so original today because they've been copied throughout the world. Plus, some of Chicago's buildings are still unique. For example, its hard to find something more unique than the Tribune Tower, although its style has certainly influenced many buildings.

I gave it an 8.5. Not very dense unfortunatley. And alot of the buildings are just boxes and the others are boxes with little roofs on the top. The sears tower impresses me with its size but all it really is is a bunch of boxes bundled together with really ugly antennas on top. Sorry HK is much better!

I can't believe there are people who would actually give Chicago anything below a 5. (54 people who actually gave it a 3)

Looking at these pictures how could you score it that low.
How can people say Chicago is not dense, I mean how dense do you want a city to get.
You must be looking at some old pictures of Chicago to be saying it is not denese.

Easy people get really jealous. Its that plain and simple. When they see the great skyline they feel insecure and the only way to make them feel better is to 'pretend' that Chicago isnt dense, or nice...its really pathetic but thats the way ppl want it. I can also value opinions but saying it isnt dense isnt an opinion its just plain wrong. It's like saying chicago doesnt have tall builidngs (which just u wait someone will say!). On the other hand saying that they dont like the Architecture is fair enough it isnt going to be everyones fav ..but hey i have rambled long enough here.

Yay Penrith won!!!

okay...first things first....

I have to agree with Chi-town...whoever voted a three...well, nevermind

Chicago gets a 10/10 hands-down...my architectural interest came from it, and I haven't let it go since. The balance is much better than that of the other greats.

This city has some things that the others don't. New York doesn't have the panoramic waterfront. Hong Kong, well, it's just not China. But Chicago...yeah, baby...this is where all of it started.

The Sears Tower, Aon, and Hancock are definitive...they're not my favorites, but I couldn't do without them. I will admit, CNA Plaza is pretty butt-ugly, but I love Graham, Anderson, Probst & White anyways

If you hate Aon, well...take a look at WTC...they're pretty much the same...only, of course, Aon has a little more character...Never, ever, ever diss Perkins & Will

I've loved this city for about four years now...I used to know over 500 of the buildings by name. Call me stubborn, but I'm not flinching.

Chicago rules...hands-down

and whoever put La Paz in front of New York, Hong Kong, and Chicago...I'm extremely confused

yer its all good that chicago has an impressive skyline, and it has to because of its population, but in reality chicago is a big nothing? i never see it in movies, financial global reports so whats the use of living in a no-name place? of course people will like it but i dont see chicago ever being on a world level as such in regards to "higest hirarchy" like london, paris, sydney, new york, hong kong etc...it such as shame that a city like chicago will never be up there as such because its just boring(meaning no landmark), it reminds me of Melbourne, i dont see the point in living here when its never going to be a world city like how sydney already is, its never going to look good with the boring brown yarra river because its just but ugly! melbourne is sadly a big nothing aswell and will eventually end up like chicago...a big place where people happen to live with no icon for the world...i wish melbourne and chicago was so popular like, paris, newyork etc...but i will never this it happening....

but all in all...chicago's skyline is great! (but if they had a landmark) it would be so much better 9/10!!:D

I don't know about all that stuff. Chicago IS a huge buisiness city, second to only NY in the US in terms of headquarters located there. It does have landmarks, including the Sears Tower and John Hancock Building. Probably the best all around architecture in the US, including a great collection of Frank Lloyd Wright buildings. Its also a cultural capital, and an awsome place for music and good, hearty food. I think it beats Sydney in every one of these categories, but it is quite cold in the winter, which is its huge downside. Ultimately, though, Chicago is as great as any city in the US, although it excels at different things than NY or SF or Boston.

Incidentally, the AIA has ranked Chicago as the nation's best architectural city for the last 50 years or so, with NY being second. Go there sometime, and you'll love it (but, please, don't go in the winter!)

Julz, ur funny. :)

Chicago is soooooooooooooooooooooooo far ahead of cities such as Sydney and Toronto its not funny. It is the USA's second biggest business city (I think). If the sears tower is not a landmark, then i'll blow myself. Im sure the nightlife there would blow any Aussie cities nightlife to smitherienes.

Chicago is the home of the skyscraper! The place is one of the cultural capitals of the world! Have you seen the movie CHICAGO? Thats what the place would have been like (to some degree) 50 years ago.

Chicago is a world city through and through, and theres no denying that!

By the way, i can think of a business HQ'd in toronto off my head. A little airliner business called Boeing ;) Also Oprah and Jerry is filmed there :D

oy vey...

First of all, how are you saying that Chicago is ugly and there's nothing to do here when you've never been? Sure, it's cold in the winter, but Chicago is generally considered to be one of the most aesthetically pleasing cities in the U.S. It has some of the country's best museums and galleries, and the nightlife is second only to New York. It's the second most important financial center in North America, and the most important city in the world for financial risk management (options, futures, hedging, etc). It's the transportation hub of North America.

CNN and BBC don't have studios in Chicago, true. But if you ever watch CNBC (the business news channel of NBC, the biggest TV network in America), their daily market report is live from Chicago. Chicago is also one of the cities in which The Economist maintains a bureau:

Yeah, and McDonald's, Sears Roebuck, Motorola, Abbot Laboratories, Sara Lee, United Airlines, Allstate, USG, Navistar, Aon, Baxter, Walgreen, and so on.

Chicago has the second highest number of Fortune 500 companies (the 500 largest companies in the U.S.) after New York. It's also a major convention center, and the #1 destination for business travel in the United States.

Oh, and a study was done of globalization and world cities by a British university group a few years ago. This was the result:

http://www.lboro.ac.uk/gawc/world.gif

Chicago isn't a flashy city. It's not LA, Miami, or Vegas, but who wants to be? It produces some of the best theater in the world, but in smaller experimental shows, not Broadway musicals. Many movies are filmed here, so you're just wrong about that. But mostly Chicago is a city of finance, business, and industry, so unless you're working for a global firm in one of those industries, it wouldn't be on your radio.

Julz - Chicago is anything but boring. It's big on Blue's music for one thing. Is it ugly? Well like any big American city, it has it's run down suburbs. I have spent some time in Chicago. I was studying in a town called Normal (yep Normal LOL) which is about 2-3 hrs south of Chicago. I went to Chicago many times and fell in love with the place. It's a great sports city equal in passion about it's sport to Melbourne. Do you hear of the Bears, the Cubs, the Bulls relocating? Nope. Chicago has character and passion.

As far as beauty goes, well maybe awesome is a better word. The skyline is frikken amazing with it's diversity of bold designs. From the planetarium peninsular, the skyline view is truly breath taking.

http://members.iinet.net.au/~fratello/p2s.jpg

It's not an ugly city. Sometimes I think it could do with more greenery and more parks but from a bold architectural point of view I really think it is without par, almost :).

It's also a very important city. It is the hub of ag` commodity trading. I have a close friend in Chicago who trades wheat. He showed me around the Exchange. All the agricultural commodities trade from Chicago. It's stock exchange is also quite large. Chicago has a metro pop of 8.5 million and it's economy is very large. I can't remember the GDP of this city but Illinois with 12 million people has a GDP similar per capita if not more than Australia.

She's my kinda town, Chicago Chicago. But hey Melbourne is a great city too. Melbourne is the closest thing we have to Chicago and I sway towards Melbourne being prettier but that's probably because it's greener. But from an architectural point of view, Chicago is more impressive in my humble opinion.

Oh and you never see Chicago in movies? Oh dear. Let's see - Blue's Brothers, The Jackal, Ali, The Negotiator, The Breakfast Club, The Chamber, Chicago, Ferris Bueller's Day off, The Fugitive, Home Alone (and all sequels), I Robot, A League of their own, Meet the Parents, Mercury Rising, Natural Born Killers, Planes trains and automobiles, Sixteen Candles, The Sting, The Untouchables, Wayne's World, etc etc etc.

A 10, naturally. I prefer Chicago's skyline to NYC.

It's tough going against HK, but each skyline has it's own flavor (and I like both equally). What I think Chicago's skyline has is simple power and strength. There isn't a "gee whiz let's gawk" feel to it ... it just is what it is (and what it is is magnificent!).

And to those who voted 3 or less... I just don't get it! It's like being an exotic car buff and turning your nose up at a vintage Lamborghini. It may not be "your" town, but who can deny Chicago anything less than an "8"? I'd sure love to see what your definition of a "10" is if you rank Chicago a "3."

This is a really cool looking city and it seems like a nice place. Overall, the skyline is very good. However, I don't think it matches up with New York or Hong Kong because the layout of the buildings doesn't complement the buildings themselves. There are different cool buildings in all different spots in the city. The Sears Tower looks really cool, but too many other buildings in the city modeled themselves to be too similar. I give it an 8.5/10.

Simply an amazing skyline, and I hope I can someday visit. I plan on going there within a few years, one of my best friends goes back there every year to visit, so I might be taking a trip up there. He loves it. Yeah, it has "only" 1700 skyscrapers compared to NYCs 5000+, BUT it is a very nice layout and truly impressive combination of tall, medium, and old architecture. I love it just from these pics, and hope I can go see it someday. And aside from L.A. and NYC, the next biggest movie city (as for movies being set in) has got to be Chicago. How else with 9.5 MILLION people! 10/10.

I just don't get how some people could think Chicago is not dense enough. I mean how dense do you want a city to get? Just look at the density in this great pano taken by Daniel8ty8 at skyscraperpage. 10/10

Yeah, Chicago is impressive not just because of its tall buildings, but because it has the historical, genuine feel to it that many newer cities just can't replicate. There's nothing like a little Gotham to enhance a city's skyline. 9.5

9.5/10. The buildings look semi-old (which is a good thing) and I think the density is perfect (bar a few areas) and I think it would be perfect if there were a few more modern all-glass mid-sized buildings to compliment the already amazing skyline. Awesome!

^Vincent: the 2 panoramas you posted were taken looking southeast. The location of the first would be in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, a few blocks north of North Avenue and a few blocks west of Clark St.

The second one was taken about 1/2 mile south of the first near Division St., but about the same distance west.

Both look like rooftop photos from fairly low buildings (5 stories or less) because both are barely above the tree line. Because there are dozens of 3-5 story buildings in both of these areas it's impossible to tell exactly what building from which each picture was taken.

Chicago is the best in the world!!! To me its Chicago, New York and then Hong kong. It has the world's most beautiful skyline for many, many reasons. First it has a great history (this is the home of the first metal framed skyscraper!!) Also, many new glass-and-metal (modern buildings) are being built throughout the city (I live here and everytime there's a new building being built or renovated.) In addition, we have one the talles buildings in the world, for example the Sears Tower, the Hancock Centre, and the AON building. Not only that, but we will be the home of the newest Trump International Hotel and Tower (90 floors high, proposed for 2006) and the Waterview Tower (85 floors, proposed for 2007).

Oh yeah before i forget: What da f**k is up w/ the people who voted 6 or below. Chicago deserved no less than a nine. Everyone who voted less than 9 is just jealous...STOP HATING!!!!

Clean and balanced skyline. Waterfront location is nice. Sears Tower is a good focal point. Not a particular fan of the Hancock tower, but the Aon Center impresses me. 300+ meter box with white surface! 8.5/10

I never get bored of looking at pictures of Chicago. An amazing skyline- and the skyline also has history unlike many North American cities, with Chicago being the birthplace of the skyscraper. A great mixture of architecture and the height of the buildings is astonishing. The only thing I would say is, some of the buildings are pretty ugly and uninspiring, there are some examples of 20th century eyesores in the skyline. The city also lacks the character of many cities in Europe such as London and Paris. Nevertheless, I give it 8.5/10- one of the most recognisable skylines in the world.

No one ever said all of Chicago's tall buildings are in the CBD. Chicago's central core of tall buildings is roughly 2 square miles, which includes over 80 buildings of 500+ feet. They're more spread out that people expect them to be, but that's a number that no city besides Hong Kong or New York comes close to touching, which is why Chicago is in the top 3. Add in the 3 (soon to be 4, and hopefully 5) buildings with roof heights over 1000 ft and Chicago's credentials are even more impressive.

Because of our lakefront, the tall buildings continue in a narrow band along the lake for another 7 miles in each direction--north and south--from the CBD. Probably several hundred of our 12+ story buildings are on the lakefront outside of the central area.

10/10. Like I said in the New York forum, only New York, Hong Kong, and Chicago ever get 10s. Chicago's skyline is an architectural wonderland--that pic of Michigan Avenue from urbanspy alone shows off about five different styles. Chicago is dense. Chicago has incredible height. Sure, other skylines may have a handful of tall buildings, but building for building, Chicago's height is matched only by New York. Driving down Lakeshore Drive on a nice summer day, I almost lose my mind gawking at the endless procession of huge, beautiful buildings. Not a good thing if you're the one driving!

Urbanspy, those photos are great.

Finally, in response to Dubai_boy, who wondered where all of the 1400 buildings are, Kevin_J is correct: many of them are spread far from downtown. For example, Chicago has a 54-story residential building 5 miles away from the center of downtown. Many skylines cannot even boast a building that tall as their tallest building (e.g. San Francisco, Milwaukee, etc.). If you approach Chicago from the north, the sheer breadth of the tall buildings is unbelievable-it's an unbroken chain of madness, far far more impressive than Dubai's heavily interrupted and often loose skyline. Dubai looks like it's made out of Legos, Chicago has soul.

^That building pictured above is the Mechandise Mart. And yes, it's huge. It has only slightly less space than the Sears Tower, despite being about 75 stories shorter than Sears. At the time it opened, it had the most space under one roof of any building in the world.

The Mart was built in the 1930s as a wholesale center for the Marshall Field department store. From the mid-30s until the mid-90s, the Mart was owned by the Kennedy family (and one of of Robert Kennedy's sons still manages the building).

There are many things housed in the Mart these days. A signficant amount of space is rented out as offices. Until just a few months ago, the Chicago Transit Authority (operator of the city's public transit) had its headquarters there.

But the Mart now mainly serves as a center for interior design. The main tenants are showrooms for interior furnishings such as kitchen and bath fixtures, furniture, etc. Many national and international design industry trade shows are held there each year.

Most of the showrooms sell only to industry professionals, but recently a center was opened on the first floor of the Mart composed of showrooms that sell to the general public.

There is a Mercantile Exchange in Chicago too, which is housed in twin towers joined by a trading floor.

OKay, I am again dumbfounded with the way people people are voting, how can anybody vote less than a 10? come on people this is the birthplace of the skyscraper. you may think i am biased because i lived in this city, but what the f*ck its huge. Chicago is second only to New York in regards to amount of skyscrapers. the chicago skyline is more crowded and taller than any other skyline in the world. and who bashes the Sears Tower? honestly show some respect. it the f*cking Sears Tower **still the tallest office building in the world, from ground to top habital floor** this skyline is amazing, and only getting better; i.e. 90 story trump tower coming soon. anybody who voted less than 10 needs to put down their crack pipe and take a closer look at the pictures.

Another one of my top 10 skylines! However, many buildings look similar (black boxes with flat roof), and this gives the skyline a little less creativity...

The sears is still a unique building, despite losing its crown to PTT so many years back... If the Sears were located in KL, it will be a nice complement to the Petronas...
