View Full Version : Urban Photo Thread, part 2 Matthieu January 28th, 2005, 06:04 PM So here is the new thread, sequel of the last one. Enjoy. ch1le January 29th, 2005, 12:25 PM anyhow ill start the new one: These are taken yesterday from the garage of Viru centre(big zoom, alot of snowfall - haaazy!): Gonsiori str. http://img173.exs.cx/img173/8373/gonsioristr2kg.jpg Narva mnt str with oooold trams: http://img173.exs.cx/img173/362/narvamntoldtrams7yb.jpg Geex January 29th, 2005, 02:00 PM Little part of Ukmerges street at night. http://www.pix8.net/pro/pic/12030A73Jg/306032.jpg http://www.pix8.net/pro/pic/12030A73Jg/306034.jpg NorthStar77 January 30th, 2005, 11:04 AM And for newbies, here are the rules from the original thread: 1. Maximum two images per forumer per day. 2. No offensive pictures. 3. The photos should have an urban character. That means preferably not pictures of your dog, or your last mountainclimb. 4. The photos must be taken by you. 5. You are encouraged to describe where and when it was taken, but this is not necessary. 6. Apart from this, they can be from anywhere in the world! ch1le January 30th, 2005, 01:30 PM a couple from yesterday! From Karackhals window... Did you take it? Btw I've been in that "mill". ;) Janis_LV February 1st, 2005, 11:10 PM Not my pics, but they are with author's permit put here. Edd February 1st, 2005, 11:16 PM Not my pics, but they are with author's permit put here. Strange, because it was already told to you that only pictures made by you can be posted. Gatis February 1st, 2005, 11:25 PM Janis_LV - the picture should be taken by you!!! Today from me - two very different places of Riga: First - guards at Riga Castle, 31st December 2004: http://img132.exs.cx/img132/1161/rigaspilssargi31dec049cv.jpg Second - one of faraway secondary centres of Riga. This is Sarkandaugava some 7 km to the north from the centre. It has got some 300 Art Nouveau and Ecclecticism buildings - most are simple but some are very ornate. Street network has not changed over the last two centuries. Unfortunately these smaller "centres" still are very poor. Simanja Street last summer. http://img132.exs.cx/img132/8301/simanjaiela16mai045bx.jpg Edd February 1st, 2005, 11:32 PM @Gatis: Your last picture is just great - those buildings and people "in action" between them look very nice and very "real". Big contrast between that old wooden building and green tree in the background looks very nice too. :okay: Gatis February 1st, 2005, 11:36 PM Thanks, Edd! Btw... all the people in picture looked quite khm "rundown", when they approached... Depressive place. Will look over the pictures from last summer - there are bits of everything all over the city Edd February 1st, 2005, 11:45 PM Actually I like that area, for me it is not depressing at all. :) I even think that it has some unique, nice atmosphere. For me the most depressing place should be the area with big, grey, neglected commie buildings and no greenery around. designwise February 8th, 2005, 01:34 PM http://people.arcada.fi/~wahlberw/Mike.jpg Mike Monroe of the legendary Finnish rock band, Hanoi Rocks in concert at Helsinki's Tavastia club. No, I'm not Anders Olsen. :) I found it over at www.jetphotos.net. Sideshow_Bob, THAI are repainting their planes and it won't be long until all 744:s that come to CPH and ARN are in this livery. I've spotted the new tails more and more from my commuter trains in the mornings (the trains pass CPH airport, just to the right of the hangars in the photo, and the aircraft tails are visible from there). :) ch1le November 10th, 2005, 10:02 PM /\you are only supposed to post your own photos here... anyway 2 urban ones from today: http://img319.imageshack.us/img319/2596/img3590s1aa.jpg near harbour, the arching thing is a memorial to the victims of Estonia catastrohpy: http://img319.imageshack.us/img319/3758/img3571s3ta.jpg Moolio November 10th, 2005, 10:24 PM Agora, the faculty of IT of Jyväskylä university. It's been a while since I saw your photos... nice comeback. ;) It's the EF-S 18-55mm kit lens. ;) My friend used a 70mm lens with his D70, and his photos turned out a lot better. 55mm simply isn't enough for distances like that especially in noctural photos.
