I've always really liked the Royal/Sun Alliance tower... such a distinctive crown and the rest of the skyline is very diverse and well designed as well. ->8.5/10

Great skyline, harbour and overall panorama, but given the scores I've given other cities I can only give Auckland a 7/10 given its relitave small size, both in height and density.

Mmmh, I don't like the architecture. I gave Sidney an 8 and Frankfurt a 7. Therefore I can't give Aukland more than 6.5, sorry.

It's a small pop. city - so it has a nice small yet beautiful skyline.

8. better than brisbane.(due to the surroundings mostly, makes it better on the eye)

Auckland has really changed in the last six years since I was last there. The skyline is looking great and nice to see whats happening along the harbourfront. Hopefully the America's Cup will return one day soon.

Great setting, fairly interesting mix of buildings.

If it wasnt for the tower we would be looking at a 7, but that tower is absolutely perfect, both in height and positioning.

Thus an 8/10 from my good self :)

Mind if quality of life were a factor then I'd be giving you folks a straight 10 :)

9.0. Having been there myself, it's ability to look so dense in some areas yet so tame in others is great. Perfect setting by the harbour and very modern. Love it.

Auckland City has such a nice setting with the green hills and harbour and nearby beaches... it just needs a few 200-meter buildings to fill the gap between the skytower and the next highest buildings

I went to New Zealand 2 years ago, but never went to Auckland :( I give it a 8/10 cause it look so cool and is located on a beautiful waterfront

Hey thanks for posting these terrific pics, as I haven't seen Auckland before!

And I must say I was quite pleasantly surprised:) This is a lovely place---beats the hell out of San Diego's skyline. Looks exciting, quirky (in a good way!) fun and full of human spirit!

In my opinion Auckland's skyline isn't very beautiful, but not so bad either.
Skyscrapers are not so beautiful, most are just solid brick-shaped concrete blocks. But there are some kinda beautiful exceptions like two blue towers on Queen St (I think it's Phillips Fox building)
Sky-tower has nice lighting during the night, but that's all.

And observation deck on sky-tower could be higher. I mean, it's easy that it's the southern hemisphere's tallest tower if the half of it is antenna and observation deck is in the middle. Sydney tower's observation deck is much higher.

But anyway, I don't want to just criticize, it's not that bad.

Except for Tina's Photo's and a few others there are some very Old Photo's getting Posted on Aucklands Poll ! I wish I lived there to get a few up to Date ones ! Anyways not sure how Old this one is , but I think its pretty new ! The Skyline is Changing again as a couple of Large Apartments Blocks begin to make an impact on the Skyline ! This is one Skyline to watch out for over the next Five Years ! :)

Auckland has about the Same number of Skyscrapers as Brisbane , approx 250 , if not more ! The Emporis List is a bit behind ! Brisbane does have more over the 100m mark though ! :) :cheers:

Ahhh, my hometown.

Auckland's skyline is not large, but the buildings are generally of a nice design and the Waitemata harbor is beautiful.

I gave it a generous 8/10 purely because Skytower is so dominating on the skyline and looks great at night. Take away Skytower and the skyline is fairly average.

not my type of skyline, seems to me it tried very hard to be modern and futuristic but looks very tacky. i don't like looking at the skyline, which is mainly how i judge them. it isn't very aesthetically pleasing...impressive height for such a small city though.

Auckland has a population of only 1.3 million and is New Zealands largest city. It has constantly been rated one of the top 10 cities in the world ( 5th in the recent Mercer ratings). The tallest building is the Sky tower (328m), which is an observation and Communications tower.
There are also many more tall buildings planned for the city including a 215m residential tower called the Elliott Tower.

I was in Auckland in January for my grandfather's 80th birthday-- we had dinner at that Yacht Club pictured on the foreground.

Very pretty city in what can only be described as God's country.

The population of greater Auckland is just over 1.3 million. Auckland City is divided into 7 regions with 7 mayors ... it is all very confusing but that will change next year when Auckland will become the largest Supercity in Australasia with just 1 super mayor :cheers:
