Anybody got the time to capture the Chinese New Year fireworks? Someone did it last year on the TVB coverage, and it was great.

i still have the 10/1 firework show video from justin last year. (but it got a high frequency noise), and chinese new year firework show last year (great quality)

btw, i found the last CNY firework show in some BT website. I will try to find that again this year.

I saw it on Suprnova.org, which is now defunct as a BT site.

Rooftop pyrotechnic displays to enhance "A Symphony of Lights" during Chinese New Year

To celebrate the Chinese New Year, "A Symphony of Lights" will again be enhanced with rooftop pyrotechnics from February 11 to 15.

The pyrotechnic displays for these five nights are sponsored by the Hong Kong Tourism Board and will feature a wide range of colourful patterns to highlight the festive glamour. In addition, participating buildings including the Bank of China Tower, Hopewell Centre and Sun Hung Kai Centre will start showcasing their newly enhanced lighting effects over Chinese New Year to make the show even more spectacular.

The show starts at 8pm and the broadcasting arrangement along the Avenue of Stars is as follows:

February 11 (Fri) English
February 12 (Sat) Putonghua
February 13 (Sun) Cantonese
February 14 (Mon) English
February 15 (Tue) Putonghua

Spectators may also listen to the soundtrack via the radio by tuning in to FM 103.4 MHz (English), FM 106.8 MHz (Cantonese) or FM 107.9 MHz (Putonghua); or via their mobile phones by dialing 35-665-665 (English) or 35-665-668 (Putonghua).

i remember the link didn't work after couple of days, and i hosted the file in my computer. So we need to find that file quick this year before it disappear.

I found two clips of the Chinese New Year Fireworks 2005 on a BT site (one avi and one mpg), don't know if they are the same because I'm still downloading at the time I post this message. I guess I should be quick before all the seeds are gone.

I can't get either of them. It says file name formatting error (maybe due to the Chinese chars.?). Which BT client are you guys using?

One of the errors:

"2005萬事勝意煙花大匯演.mpg" : IO Error [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'C:\\Documents and Settings\\Username\\Desktop\\2005?????????.mpg'

I used bittorrent. I still can't get the 2005 one.

I can't get either of them...even the TVB one gives me an error! NOOOOOOOOOOO.....I NEED THAT VIDEO HELLLPPPPPPP :bash:

I tried to DL the TVB one again to test it out and again no problem.
Click link, bittorrent will prompt for saving the file in a folder and then it starts downloading.

If you have bittorrent maybe you have a bug in the program. Maybe try to download bittorrent again?

P.S. The quality of the video is outstanding-- like watching on television.

I'm getting "Problem connecting to tracker" and it's still not downloading. I've tried several BT clients already.

i dont think i can do ftp anymore coz the internet provider that i have now doesn't really have a IP for some reason (probably coz i split the service with my roommates using routers or something). I tried many times to do ftp hosting before with no success, except when i was still living on campus a year ago.

The music matches very well, it shouldn't have been aired only on the TV. They probably have done something with the music on-site.

Excellent show; this one was a lot more colourful and varied than the one from last year, although last year's ending was a bit more intense. The video quality is much higher this time, too.

from what i read in newspaper, it sounds like the music was being broadcasted live in some places. Like they interviewed some tourist, and some say the chinese music was interesting.

the video quality of the CNY firework from last year is about the same as this one. I still got the file. Yea, the ending of last year was slightly more intense last year (firework in midium height air only). But we got 4 bardges this year (more firework surface area), and we got both mid height and high height firework this time.

Every lamp post is equipped with speakers. They are being used to play classical music and jazz during the day and night.

i know the lamp post got speaker for the symphony of light. But i am not sure if they would play the music for the CNY firework.

HKT, the bt.newsgroups.com.hk doesn't seem to work. I tried adding "http://" and "http://www." in the front. But still doesn't work.

It's a newsgroup, so it starts with news:// which is news://bt.newsgroups.com.hk. However, they ban all non-HK IP so people from overseas won't be able to browse all the newsgroups except bt.admin.
