I purchased three tickets for my nephews at Gateway 21 Holidays (Tel. No. 820-5252/820-2121) located inside the Airport Canteen. The ticket costs P1,533.00 (each). Plus, I was asked to pay an additional P50 per ticket (para yata 'to dun sa papel at printing ng ticket nila). I also purchased an e-ticket on the net para sa 'kin naman. The cost is P1,532.12. Walang ng additional na P50... Ipriprint mo na lang yung e-ticket mo. But, I guess the card company will add 5% of the total item cost. Kaya mahal pa rin gumamit ng card. :dizzy:

@six, thanks for the pic, six. I miss SAA's parlor and that huge Sacred Heart image..hehe :)
@geri, this is our thread and no one would have been offended if you did create the seventh thread. It's great Monsi took the initiative, hehe. (nag PM pa si six, busy kasi ako, sorry..waa) .
olineil September 4th, 2006, 05:27 PM Ei Monsi, Do you happen to know what they're going to do with the center islands of Quezon Avenue?
Its good that they actually demolished the the center divider. They could have just made it lower or a planter during the roces times. I was really irked by that center divider when it was done. I mean what the heck was the city architect thinking?!!!! At least now they demo'd the thing... my hopes are they will make something that will be more aesthetically sound than the previous one.

Ibalong Fest 2006 postponed
By Florencio P. Narito
MAYOR Noel Rosal has announced the postponement of Ibalong Festival 2006, scheduled on Oct. 25-31, to May 2007 because the Executive Committee has decided to spend the funds intended for the festival for the rehabilitation and livelihood of Mayon evacuees.
Rosal further said they plan to integrate the Ibalong Festival with the Magayon Festival hosted by the Provincial Government of Albay. Definitely, the Ibalong street competition will be one of the main attractions of the Magayon Festival.

I really think it's proper that it be postponed. I cannot afford to see others having fun while some city folk are suffering. And I have to praise Gov. Gonzales as well for effecting some changes on Magayon Festival. While the fun-loving ostracize him (or Rosal, as the case may be), I praise them for being really pro-people.

thanks guys for making us feel we're closer to home through current photos.
you dont know how much that means to us overseas who really miss home.
legazpi and naga are both great places.
we shouldnt compete with one another, we should complete each other. :D
up to this time we havent had any problems like what some other neighboring cities are having. no need for city comparisons.
let's keep it that way.
them naga folks are awesome. kevin, nikki, garzland, sino pa ba hehe
let's just focus on the similarities that unites us, rather than looking at differences that divides us all

I don't think there was anything wrong with what you wrote. Did you mean grammar or what? But I seem to get what you meant.
But this is what is wrong: mababa grade mo sa akin sa english class ni mrs casitas. I wasn't your student teacher that time. Yours was my female classmate. I handled I-Jupiter speech class, the group of Julius Rustia. We got along because another student teacher and I trained you and your sister for a poetry recital contest which you won. I still had pics of your recital but someone stole them. Secret na lang kung sino.
And it seems unexpected of me to say this, I agree with you on Mrs. Casitas.

Your grammar is all right. And I won't even say mine is perfect. But just the same, I would wish the Americans hadn't influenced you much with their rather erroneous English.
Yes, the pic is where you were shirtless (can't remember if you paired your shirtless "XD" with a malong. Can't tell you who took it from my photo album (I had a photo album of my student teaching pics). Can't afford to see myself in trouble. Wahaha! I shall leave you worrying about the whole thing.
And yes, I still am here at PSHS - Bicol Campus.

Hi... In behalf of the founding fathers, Oli from the Lion City, Doc from Buckingham, Matt from MGM Grand, Dex from the Kingdom of Rawis
(their busts should be hewn somewhere akin to those on Mt. Rushmore), welcome, and we look forward to colorful threads ahead us.
By the way, our official protocol officer, Doc, is perhaps on a holiday in Manchester or Glasgow we have not heard from him a long while.
Other Legazpeeps include Tim from Waikiki, Sixtus Maximus, SMBigaa, and Mond87 and Geri from Daraga. Tigs and Tsinoy say a word
from time to time. We also have Sinjin from the Detroit of the Philippines answering technical questions.
We are all fans, every now and then visiting your blog and would "copy-paste" your work and post 'em here for others to enjoy the
visual feasts (of course with proper attributions). As you know, our Legazpeņo, Albayano, and Bicolano compatriots overseas
need constant visual reconnection with their native land.
Your low-light pictures [if that's the correct term] are awesome. :)

[dx] September 7th, 2006, 09:14 AM @lili, Not really the most popular, but it's quite prominent being one of the oldest Catholic schools for girls (but its been co-ed since the '70s yata) in the city. Established in 1912 by the Missionary Benedictine Sisters, it is the first branch of St. Scholastica's College outside Manila. :)

11 - [Obituary] Mayor Imelda Roces, 70
Monday, September 11 2006 @ 08:39 PM BST
Provincial
Imelda Roces, more popularly known in Legazpi City as "Nana Mely", died of a heart stroke while delivering her message at the National Crime Prevention Week celebration at the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) main office in Makati City last week. She was 70.
She was the vice chairperson of the Napolcom.
Roces was a high school teacher and college professor in Bicol College and Ago Medical and Educational Center in Albay before she joined politics.
She ran and won as councilor here in 1980 until 1988. In 1988, she again ran and won as vice mayor. When Mayor Benjamin Imperial died she succeeded as Mayor in December 1991.
In 1992, she was sworn in as the elected Mayor of Legazpi City. She was named also as one of the best local government leaders of Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim during her incumbency as mayor of Legazpi City.
Roces had charisma in dealing with the people. She loved public service, the reason why she remained undefeated in her three cosecutive terms as City Mayor (1992-2001).
As City's chief executive, she had put up infrastructures and developed tourism activities that Legazpi has been christened as "City of Smiles".
Before joining the Napolcom, Roces also briefly served as representative of the Philippines to the UNESCO.
Nana Mely, whose husband Rodicendo died earlier, was survived by five children Avelino, a teacher; Ramon, a physician; Martin, a banker and politician; Angel, another doctor; and Bitoy, the youngest, who now connected with the Napolcom.
Interment will be on September 13. Mass will be said at 10:00 AM before she is finally laid to rest at the Albay Catholic Cemetery. (PNA)

gurugeri September 13th, 2006, 02:49 AM I am sad to hear that former Legazpi City Mayor Imelda Roces had passed away. She was our director at the AMEC Science High School. She was good. And she, of course, was better when she became City Mayor. I was disappointed when she didn't win Albay's 2nd district seat at the House of Representatives--she lost to the ever invisible creature. May she rest in peace eternally.

Mond87 September 24th, 2006, 03:36 PM ^^ Monsi, those improvements on Quezon Ave. islands are eye-pleasing... It totally blends well with a warm coastal city like Legazpi... Parang mediterranean ang drama...
I hope Rosal will win next year's elections... In just five years (2001-P), we've witnessed numerous infrastructural improvements in the city... The lights, the parks, the roads, etc... Meanwhile, total income has had double-digit growth rates for the past few years. I don't have any political connection w/ Rosal but hey, look at the huge difference the city now has compared with itself six years ago... Most of what we see now in the city are SPANKING NEW...

Bicolanos are natural-born entertainers. They never fail to put on a show. This is probably why the spicy peninsula is home to celebrities like Nora Aunor, Celia Rodriguez, Eddie Garcia, Mirriam Quiambao, etc.
Last year, a total of 501,378 domestic and foreign tourists visited Bicol (a six percent increase from 2004), with a marked spike in visitors every September, when Naga City welcomes hundreds of tourists to the Peņafrancia festival.
Cultural and military parades fire up the city, while bazaars and exhibits add color to the fiesta. Its also a respite from schoolwork for students, whose classes are suspended up to three weeks so they can practice their production numbers.
Families open their homes to guests and give them a sample of the infamous Bicolano cuisine (laing, Bicol express, gata dishes and pili delicacies).
Viva la Virgen!
Peņafrancia fiesta, held every third week of September, celebrates the feast day of Bicols patron saintOur Lady of Peņafrancia. The celebration kicks off with Traslacion, where the image of Virgin Mary is carried from the shrine to the Naga Cathedral by a multitude of barefoot men. Ina, as devotees call her, is then returned to the shrine by fluvial procession along the Bicol river on the third Saturday. Thousands of pilgrims, as well as curious onlookers flock to the cathedral or wait along the riverbank to witness these processions.
In line with the Catholic custom, the Department of Tourism Region V, the city government of Naga and the Regional Development Council initiated an annual event, dubbed Gayon Bicol Fiesta, showcasing festivals from the regions seven cities and six provinces. After being held in Intramuros for the past two years, the event was brought to Naga City last year, where the festivities were highlighted by a street dance parade competition, Peņafrancia fluvial procession and the Miss Bicol Festival Queen.
The province with an edge
One of the offshoots of the festival is a tour of less popular destinations in Camarines Sur. Just a few minutes away from Naga, the provincial capitol complex in the capital Pili promises edgy amusement. Among the attractions in the wi-fi-capable center, headed by Gov. Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr., is the Camsur Watersports Complex. The six-hectare complex, with a six-point cable ski system, is the first of its kind in the Philippines and Asia. It features extreme sports like wakeboarding, kneeboarding, water skiing and wakeskating. The most popular is wakeboarding, where the rider stands on a single board with stationary nonrelease bindings for each foot, standing sideways.
Accomodation isnt a problem if you plan to stay over the weekend. The Ecovillage, The Mansion Suites and the soon-to-open luxury villas and suites are all a stones throw away from the cable park and may be booked for very reasonable prices. The rooms are spacious equipped with cable-ready 29-inch TV sets, air-conditioning and other five-star services. Right in front of the mansion is the Information Technology Center, which houses a call center and animation studioa first in the region. The complex also features the aviary, man-made caves and ampitheater, among others.
Nature trip
If youre up for a good ol nature walk, escape to the soothing sights of Consocep Mountain Resort, 15 minutes away from Pili. Experience the serenity of Mt. Isarog while camping out under the forest canopy. Bathe in the crystal clear waters of three waterfallsTumaguiti, Kawa-kawa and Bulalacao. Groups can dine on banana trunks at the center park or climb and view the woods on top of the treehouse. Drop by the deer farm, where you can pet and feed Australian deer.
Virgin paradise
Camarines Surs best kept secret is the white beach coast of Caramoan. The town is a 4,000 hectare limestone forest famous for its ecosystem, caves, untouched beaches and uninhabited islets. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources declared 380 hectares of Caramoan as a protected area in 1938. A nature-friendly resort is currently being developed in the area.

Matteo October 4th, 2006, 06:10 PM RDC resolves heated tiff over airport’s name
By Rhaydz B. Barcia
LEGAZPI CITY – What’s in a name?
A worsening verbal clash between Daraga Mayor Gerry Jaucian and Mayor Noel Rosal of this city finally came to a halt after the Bicol Regional Development Council chaired by Camarines Gov. LRay Villafuerte resolved to name a proposed multi-billion airport as the Bicol International Airport.
Rosal had opposed the naming of the airport as Southern Luzon International Airport and suggested instead that it be named Legazpi City International Airport.
But Jaucian did not like the airport to be named in Legazpi City’s honor alone. He warned that if Rosal insisted on his proposal, the town of Daraga would retaliate by compelling Legazpi City to pay taxes for 1/3 of the present Legazpi Airport’s runway which is actually located in the town of Daraga.
 to this story ^^ hehehe

in other news:
Still from other sources, it has been floated about that former governor and currently Phil. Ambassador to Lebanon Al Francis Bichara is preparing for a comeback to his post at the capitol, making a possible three-way battle among Gonzalez, Salceda, and Bichara.

Mond87 October 6th, 2006, 04:40 AM ^^We were one of the worst hit but luckily electricity came back in a matter of few days in Tiwi, Tabaco and some areas in Legazpi. Just yesterday, electricity came back to Daraga's poblacion. In Cabagnan, where some electric posts fell down and electric lines were blocking some of the residents, was the worst hit by the typhoon. Until now, wala pang kuryente sa ibang bahagi ng Legazpi especially Cabagnan and surrounding areas (St. Agnes, Iglesia, etc)... :(
The typhoon was so terrible, pinakamalala na daa since 1987 (Bagyong Sisang) sabi kan mga gurang digdi... Sabi man kang iba, sa northern portions kang Sorsogon, ini na an pinakamalala... Many of Legazpi's beautiful streetlights have been destroyed...

Bicol International Airport??? Or if not, MAYON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT na lang... heheh... :)

LEGAZPI CITY Whats in a name?
A worsening verbal clash between Daraga Mayor Gerry Jaucian and Mayor Noel Rosal of this city finally came to a halt after the Bicol Regional Development Council chaired by Camarines Gov. LRay Villafuerte resolved to name a proposed multi-billion airport as the Bicol International Airport.
Rosal had opposed the naming of the airport as Southern Luzon International Airport and suggested instead that it be named Legazpi City International Airport.
But Jaucian did not like the airport to be named in Legazpi Citys honor alone. He warned that if Rosal insisted on his proposal, the town of Daraga would retaliate by compelling Legazpi City to pay taxes for 1/3 of the present Legazpi Airports runway which is actually located in the town of Daraga.
 to this story ^^ hehehe

Still from other sources, it has been floated about that former governor and currently Phil. Ambassador to Lebanon Al Francis Bichara is preparing for a comeback to his post at the capitol, making a possible three-way battle among Gonzalez, Salceda, and Bichara.

Mas maganda kung Bicol Int'l Airport na lang. Sa Bicol lang ang honor. Hindi buong South Luzon.

Go Bichara!!!! I personally like Bichara much better than Gonzalez... During his administration, revenue had increased steadily in Albay. Tourism grew fast as well... He eventually beautified the Capitol, the Penaranda Park and the Capitol Annex... Go Bichara!!! :)
Pero I still prefer kung Legazpi IA or Magayon IA or Mayon IA... But, any name will do basta maging successful lang sana ang operations nito and will bring more tourists to the Bicol region especially to its tourist spots. Hopefully, investments and businesses will grow as well...

I think BICOLANDIA International Airport has a more "global" appeal than Bicol International Airport.
Could any body suggest that to LRay Villafuerte, Mayor Jaucian or Mayor Rosal?
[dx] October 8th, 2006, 03:50 AM Ei guys, Tigs is coming over for a visit on Oct. 12-13. I think its also the best opportunity for us to meet the people behind the usernames. SSC friends from Naga City and other nearby places are also invited. Here are some places suggested by the other SSC Legazpi forumers, where we can hang out on Oct. 12, probably at 7pm onwards, Can anyone help me choose the best one? thanks, hehe
1. Restaurants at Capitol Annex:
Gasthof, Chick ‘N Sombrero: Accessible, great food, close to landmarks
2. Other Restos within the Albay District:
Colonial Grill, Chili Pepper's, Small Talk Cafe: Accessible, close to landmarks, prices are also reasonable.
3. Restos within Legazpi Port District:
Kanzo Hall, La Roca, Waway's, Swaisi, Tago-Tago, BokLan
Then afterwards, if you want, maybe we can transfer to another place for inuman sessions :
Guys, tell me the best choice from the following:
Champion's Bar
Ninong's
South Road at Pepperland Hotel
Smoke N' Grill, Airport Road
Mingles
Bar 101
P.S.: I'm really not sure about the prices, quality of the place and the food, etc., so guys, kayo na bahala, help me choose the best na sana. Libre daa ni Tigs...ahahahaha., joke lang. Just post your replies or PM me. I'll give you my contact details via PM. Hope you can all come. :)
attitude2win October 8th, 2006, 04:12 AM hey dex..... hope maka join man ako sa oct 12-13 gathering nyo...waaaa i really miss legazpi city ... in addition, yung parkwoods sa washington drive baga ok man mag gimik duman... reasonable man price duman..... if dinner lang namn i'll go for the establishments jan sa albay district or sa gogon like swaisi and la roca....
mas magayon gayod kung MAGAYON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ang ipangaran sa airport na gigibuhon sa bicol...its time not to use mga places like mactan IA, subic, manila etc etc... di ba? what do u think guys? kung yan magiging name kang airport bicol na bicol hehhehe
[dx] October 8th, 2006, 04:22 AM ^^yeah, sana talaga makaiba ka :)
Hmm, about sa pangaran kang airport, ok na man ang Magayon, pero knowing politicians, baka aloy kaan, pangaran ki politiko na ang pangaran kaan..
Tsaka, sana ang design kang airport terminal, tige reflect man ang Bicol. Check 'nyo airport terminals kang Zamboanga and Davao International Airports. Ok sinda. :)
Monsi October 8th, 2006, 07:27 AM ...I sigh with envy at houses below our humble abode
They are enjoying the trappings of electric current,
While I detest the romantic ambiance of candlelight!
One thing good, though... I was able to read...
...and read a lot. Now I am rereading Ethan Frome,
and will finish the last three chapters tonight!
Part of Albay District below our house, at night is aglow with lights.

Gerry, I'm enrolling again second semester, my last chance.
Matt, will post pix of the project at the Basin; I saw barges beside the Kapuntukan/Sleeping Lion apparently to reclaim land; the bridge is now getting widened form work in place for concrete girders...

I haven't heard of Albay Convention Center and Sports Coliseum, just Albay Astrodome, which has also served as venue for various sports events.

I think he's just referring to Albay Astrodome.
BTW, What building was with a super ultra mega big yellow streamer saying something about the closure or boycotting of the Lafayette mine in Rapu-Rapu? Is it an unfinished something?
Sinjin P. October 17th, 2006, 04:08 AM ^ I love the lights. They give vibrance to Legazpi's M. L. Quezon Avenue
[dx] October 17th, 2006, 04:43 AM BTW, What building was with a super ultra mega big yellow streamer saying something about the closure or boycotting of the Lafayette mine in Rapu-Rapu? Is it an unfinished something?
^^ That's the AQ Dome of Aquinas University of Legazpi.
^ I love the lights. They give vibrance to Legazpi's M. L. Quezon Avenue
^^ I am disappointed by the streetlights. I agree with Neil, a simpler, sleeker design would have been much better aesthetically. I think the ones behind these new lights didn't give much thought about the designs. Gari pinakyaw su gabos na design kang streetlights duman sa kinuhaan ninda. Dai na nagpili kang marhay, hehe. But i like, the palm-tree shaped lights. Iyo na lang kuta gabos. :)
Sinjin P. October 17th, 2006, 05:14 AM ^ I agree, the designs are too grand, I hope they were simpler so that more will be able to appreciate it but now that it's there, I hope the government will be able to maintain those streetlights
[dx] October 17th, 2006, 08:48 AM Last Saturday, Oct. 17, 2006, one of the most prominent names in the Filipino blogosphere, Mr. Abe Olandres, also known as "Yuga" of www.yugatech.com (http://www.yugatech.com/blog/?p=1265), gave a free seminar on "Web Copywriting for Fun and Profit".
Basically, Abe encouraged everyone who attended the seminar to start their own blogs - which not only provides an avenue for self-expression but can also be a means to earn a living. Despite a short power interruption, the event was a success - with Abe giving a lively, informative and very interesting talk on what web copywriting is.

Here's Mr. Yuga right before he talked about web copywriting and blogging. Pardon the fuzzy picture, I don't have a steady hand.

I think it was a nice seminar. Nice topic.
Monsi October 17th, 2006, 12:55 PM ...the lamps indeed look ugly daytime, but they lend an air of festivity at night.
The man behind design and architecture of Legazpi City LGU projects is Archt. Rey Acosta.
These nine lamps were imported from Shanghai, China...
Reputedly, these are the very first ever installed anywhere in the Philippines...
These cost P3,000,000.00, excluding maintenance cost and cost of power.
Due to the loads of electric juice these lamps require, lights will be switched on till 10:00 p.m. only.
They were inaugurated yesterday evening, coinciding with the opening of the Legazpi Port District Fiesta...
Quezon Avenue had become a pedestrian mall of sorts, what with the temporary Carnival put up at the burnt market site. There is a beer plaza and temporary stage with bands to entertain the revellers.
Some decry that the P3M should have been spent in livelihood projects...the ambulant chicken-skin chicharon and peanut vendors had sold out their stuff yesterday. An ugali ugaring kan satuyang mga kababayan is that we are "nali." I hope the novelty will not wear out very soon.

Mond87 October 18th, 2006, 10:40 AM This news is 2 months-old but with the end of Mayon 2006 eruption, we can take a sneak peek of what has happened in local tourism then:
Legazpi City turning Mayon menace into tourism windfall
By Mynardo Macaraig
Agence France-Presse
Last updated 09:46am (Mla time) 08/13/2006
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay - Ominous posters around this city show the nearby Mayon Volcano, erupting forcefully, shooting fiery sparks into the sky with blood-red lava dripping from its mouth.
But the words on the poster are cheerful rather than frightening: "Visit Legazpi: Mayon Eruption 2006."
The posters are part of an impromptu campaign to find some benefit from a looming disaster that has already forced the evacuation of nearly 40,000 people from their homes on the rumbling volcano's slopes into overcrowded evacuation centers.
While initial estimates of tourist revenues are not available, officials say the volcano, which began oozing lava on July 15 and is on high alert for a full eruption, has helped bring in more local and foreign tourists to this city of about 400,000 people on the poverty-stricken Bicol peninsula.
The posters are the brainchild of Legazpi City councilor Cerilo Chan who realized over a week ago that the tourism potential of the volcanic eruption was not being fully exploited.
He printed up the posters and had them placed in different parts of the city and also personally stuck copies at airports, hotels and at the tourism districts in Manila where potential visitors might see them.
"I just noticed many foreigners were arriving," but that there were not enough people attending to them, he said.
Since then, Chan has been getting many inquiries. He has been successful in attracting some 120 employees of the central bank to vacation here in late July where they personally got to see Mayon put on a fireworks show at night -- from a safe distance.
The 8,070-foot (2,460-meter) high volcano has long been a tourist attraction, thanks to its near-perfect cone, its symmetrical slopes and its history of being the most active volcano in the country.
But it has been overshadowed by other tourist attractions in recent years such as diving with whale sharks in the nearby coastal town of Donsol.
Many of the tourists who pass through Legazpi City just use it as a jumping off point to some place else but the eruption of the volcano has revived interest in Mayon.
While government volcanologists warn people not to enter a six to eight kilometer (four to five-mile) danger zone around the crater, Legazpi, located some 15 kilometers away, is well out of danger.
Sightseers can watch the volcanic unrest while sipping drinks in the safety of their hotel rooftops.
Bernadette Peralta, president of the Legazpi City Tourism Council, a private association, says there is some reluctance to exploit a disaster that is hurting their neighbors.
"We have to be prudent. An eruption would also mean destruction," she says, remarking that some people had criticized the effort to use the eruption to attract tourists.
Ironically, the dangerous image of a volcanic eruption has also scared some tourists away.
"There is a perception of fear from other regions," of the Philippines, says Peralta, saying there had been some hotel cancellations.
Despite this, Maria Ravanilla, local director of the national Tourism Department says there has already been a marked rise in tourist arrivals since the volcano roared into life.
A survey of the five top hotels in Legazpi found they had a 62 percent occupancy rate since mid-July, a time of the year when such hotels usually have a 20 percent occupancy rate, Ravanilla said.
The survey also found that there were 1,683 foreign tourists who checked in from July 18 to August 7, the off-peak season, compared with 2,638 foreign tourists in the entire first half of the year.
Clouds obscure the mountain top on some days, but foreign tourists are generally pleased they made the diversion here.
"At first, I was afraid to come because when you see the volcano on the TV, you get the wrong idea," says German Michael Lichtinger, sipping a beer at an open-air restaurant on a government-built viewing station.
"I like it well enough but I wish it wasn't this cloudy."

What's an AQ dome?
Those pics are really grand... Hmmm... okay man para sakuya kaso lang, madadagdagan na naman ang expenses kang Legazpi LGU... Last year, Legazpi ang pinaka-magastos na ciudad sa Bicol...
Okay man lang na magastos basta nahihiling. ;) I like Legazpi's infra projects. In full swing na maray. :okay:
Mond87 October 18th, 2006, 11:12 AM What's an AQ dome?
Okay man lang na magastos basta nahihiling. ;) I like Legazpi's infra projects. In full swing na maray. :okay:
AQ Dome!!! That means, "Aquinas Quotient." AQ kasi pinagsabay "daw" na IQ at EQ... Wehehehe, from Aquinas Science High kasi ako... :D
Legazpi's infra projects may be good but it is also the reason why Legazpi's got a lot of expenses... However, it at least improved tourism in the city and many folks who have not visitted us in more than five years were always shocked of the many betterments the city have undergone from 2001 to present.
[dx] October 18th, 2006, 11:17 AM ei mond! kumusta ang finals? hehe.
@matt, cge, i will.
Monsi October 18th, 2006, 12:13 PM With Mond's finals in BU over, he has no reason not to join any mini-meet, hopefully we have one during the sem-break; e.g., October 31, which is a common holiday to us all. BTW, are you 18? Show me some ID's...:jk: And you're from SHS! I'm sure it would be great to have Yves taking our pix... Can we bombard him with our PMs until he relents? Heheh...
"Deal or no deal," it's up to you guys. I could be your 'proctor' (for lack of a better word)!
Suggestion: Four Seasons @ Magallanes, Dutch treat; then a short walk towards the Carnival and Quezon Avenue for photo ops, and if you like, a round of lager at the beer plaza. This could entail about two, at the most, three hours. But I bet you're of the same age as Dex's, so you have better and novel ideas and suggestions on how to have wholesome fun.
It's my turn to get busy... final exams...
Mond87 October 18th, 2006, 01:08 PM ^^ I have turned 19 last September... Gurang na ako!!!
Heheh, I hope I'll be free on that date ->Oct. 31. PS, how much would I spend if I ever get to join?
Ideas and suggestions? I'm normally not the one you can depend on when it comes to fun... I'm not even allowed to drink beer! Hahahah...
Matteo October 19th, 2006, 12:20 AM so what happened to pacific mall's expansion over there?
any new shops and stuff?
Mond87 October 19th, 2006, 02:55 AM ^^ we saw some bookshelves in one of the spaces in the mall... I think they'll be having National Bookstore. There are rumors that there will be!
kevinb October 19th, 2006, 03:01 AM ^^ Oh goody! NBS! :cheer:
@Matt: Sabi daa magkakaigwa man ng Smart, KFC, Pizza Hut, etc. But when I went there during the tigsmania, I haven't seen them. Some stalls are already being constructed, but still no signages or whatever.

Ok, either Michael should come back between March-May or Mayon should limit her activities within that period. :)

Mond, so who took those harbour pics of Legazpi? They're wonderful.
Mond87 October 19th, 2006, 03:27 AM ^^ I don't know... Guru got it somewhere... You gotta ask him, he knows...

We are now connected to the mainline early this morning, this is my first post done at home after Milenyo...
drfeelgood17 October 21st, 2006, 01:37 AM ^^I'm glad you guys have your electricity restored at last!! I remember how long it used to take after typhoons. I only hope they restore power to local residents before those extravagant streetlights! I think the record longest period of no electricity goes to the post-Sisang period. Judging from the pics, Legazpi doesn't look too wrecked, thankfully.

Yeah, I saw it, too, before I left for Nabua where there was cheaper revelry. Hehe!
I think, it is the first NBS in Bicol. I am in Naga right now. Andiyan lang ako kahapon. I am looking for a copyreading book. Rex Bookstore in Legazpi doesn't have any stock of the book I bought there last year. And Rex Bookstore here in Naga is closed. Sunday kaya! Hay, mapa-Goa na ako. Gari ako tigsasanlag--from Goa to Pili to Daraga on Friday then from Legazpi to Nabua to Naga to Goa today! Malangtanglay!

Review International Airport Project
Wednesday October 18, 2006
NAGA CITY – Expressing apprehension that huge amount of taxpayers’ money would go to waste, topnotch city councilor John G. Bongat called on his colleagues to come out with a resolution urging the Regional Development Council to take a second look on the planned Bicol International Airport, which he said may not actually address the more urgent economic needs of the Bicol Region.
In a privilege speech delivered during last Monday’s session, Bongat said the RDC, which incidentally is chaired by Camarines Sur Gov. LRay Villafuerte should instead reconsider its position and conduct a regionwide public consultation to determine Bicol’s priority projects.
He wanted the RDC to look into these more urgent areas: of a) infrastructure; b) tourism; c) agriculture-industrialization; d) improvement of existing airports in Naga, Legazpi, Virac and Masbate; e) strengthening of major economic centers like Naga on the northern part of Bicol and Legazpi which is part of southern Bicol, and; f) strengthening of livelihood programs in the region.
“In other words, the P1 billion or so pesos that will be spent for only one gigantic project can be used wisely to benefit all the six provinces of the Bicol Region,” the Naga city councilor said.
Bongat explained that Bicol is not yet ready for an international airport. He said the present volume of tourist arrivals or air traffic in the region is not sufficient to justify the establishment of an international airport.
Secondly, he said, the region has underdeveloped tourist facilities and infrastructure “that should be developed first before training our sights on more ambitious projects like an international airport.”
Because of low traffic, the proposed international airport that would gobble up huge amount of government money may end up as an oversized domestic airport that could deprive Naga, Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte of an accessible transport facility, he said.
Buttressing his argument, Bongat took the case of the Laoag international airport in Ilocos which turned out to be a white elephant as it could only muster two to three flights a week from Taiwan.
Prescribing that the money should better be spent for projects that will lay the foundation for speedy development of the region, which desperately lags as the third poorest of the country’s 17 regions, he said: “The unfinished Pantao International Port which is fast turning into a white elephant should serve as an example.”
And then he rued on the fact that the government poured in a lot of money for Pantao’s construction instead of appropriating the same to develop existing facilities in various ports that are serving their purpose in different points of the region.

Matteo October 24th, 2006, 01:12 AM is there a place where we can also view Mayor's State of the City reports and stuff like that?
Like in the Naga website?
gurugeri October 24th, 2006, 05:07 AM I don't know. I think it's St. Raphael's Academy.
As for your next question, parang walang ganon. I can't even understand why Legazpi, despite its progress, doesn't have a working website.
Mond87 October 24th, 2006, 06:20 AM ^^ That is not the St. Raphael's Academy. I think it's something else...
I agree w/ gurugeri, we also need an official website for Legazpi. But the whole province of Albay had once. Only until when Bichara was still the governor...
[dx] October 24th, 2006, 08:31 AM Albay's official website is still up and live --> www.albay.gov.ph

Mond... good to hear from you again...
Happy fiesta, Dex, heheh... May ibos lamang dyan sa indo? Sentrohonon baga kamo...
PBA fans out there: definitely maybe, November 11 at the Albay Astrodome, Red Bulls versus Air 21 (per Ariel Ayque of DWZR). The last time they'd been to Legazpi and Bicol for that matter--eversince, most (if not all) PBA games were held in air-conditioned venues in Legazpi--was in 2001. The teams could charter a Cebu Pacific A319; we don't expect them tortured at Andaya Highway, do we?
Iyan na lang kaya an gibuhon tang mini-meet...
Trouble is with enrolment and all, we really need to tighten our belts. Anyway, bahala na, may paagi, nagigibuhan ki remedyo. Or we can always watch the replay, heheh.
Like the last time at the ICR, expect SRO with scores of desperate fans still eager to get inside the gym.

Ah oo. I am so used to it. This Friday, I am going home again. I am to see my ma who is confined in a Daraga hospital. Yet. I hope that she will have been well by then. Of course, despite that, I can still afford to smile.

Correct. As if di pa kita nakita Monsi, ano? Hehe! But we can't afford to talk about MA stuff. It's has bombarded me excruciatingly.
I don't know, but the more I see pics of Legazpi, the stronger the desire :) for me to get employed there. Quite unlikely, though. Sige, the more intense my Albay pride is. Yun na lang muna. Speaking of Albay pride, I have three co-teachers from Naga who would like to settle in Albay--para raw kumpleto pagka-Bicolano nila. Weird di ba?
Haba na ng post ko.

Come on Dex, say when... (if only Yves would be our official photographer but he is very silent these days, heheh.:) Maybe he got disappointed with what he saw in the Samahan? 'Hope not...)

Hehe! You're always welcome here. Thanks for your concern. Is Dalahican Port's patron saint St. Raphael? If it is, then parehas talaga ang fiesta. Or baka meron pang ibang santong may piyesta ng Oct. 24.
