Despite of several comments and suggestions at LGU Daraga FB, to relocate all those houses encroaching already the national highway and give way to the view of the city, seems the agencies concern and DPWH, has no plan yet of making it more wider to vehicles and develop such:ohno::ohno::ohno::ohno:
Accident is a perennial problem , they have also plan of opening a diversion road but it was only a plan, remain as plan, no more, LGU has no political will on several projects, that is why, even Gov. Salceda, commented negatively against them:ohno::ohno::ohno:

Most of the food chains in Daraga were always full of customers, there is a need to open more food chains in town, like Mang Inasal, Chowking, etc. the vacant lot beside the Rural Health Center is one of the best place and the Thomas Building was already bought by Oya Enterprises, hoping more fodd chains will come and open.

We had the confirmation that it will rise either in Boulevard, Old Airport or infront of Jaucian Village. May contractor na sila for Legazpi to bid. But lets just wait for the official confirmation from SM Prime. 2014 is the target year.:banana:

Puregold sees 30-percent increase in 2012 sales

LUCIO Co-led Puregold Price Club Inc. expects sales to grow by nearly a third in 2012 after the company met its P1.5-billion income target last year.

Aida de Guzman, Puregold Price Club vice-president, said that organic growth and the effects of the company’s aggressive store expansion will fuel the topline growth of the country’s second biggest supermarket operator.

“We are looking at a 30-percent growth in our topline by growing our organic stores by 5 percent and largely due to the full year sales performance of the 38 stores we opened in 2011 and stores we will open this year,” de Guzman said in a text message.

In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Puregold said that net sales jumped by 34 percent to P39.05 billion in 2011 from P29.15 billion in the previous year.

The strong sales allowed Puregold to triple its net income to P1.54 billion from the P510 million the company posted in 2010.

“More customers are coming and spending more in our stores as they experienced real savings due to our consistently low prices,” said de Guzman.

After coming from a high base in 2011, earnings growth is expected to stabilize to a lower level this year, Leonardo Dayao, Puregold president, said in a previous interview.

Puregold is embarking on an aggressive expansion program that aims to double its store network to 200 by 2015, as it saturates further into the untapped Metro Manila and the Luzon areas and as it expands into the Visayas and Mindanao.

The listed grocery chain operator closed 2011 with 100 stores consisting of 61 hypermarkets, 28 supermarkets or Puregold Jr. and 11 discounters or Puregold Extra. It will open 25 stores this year.

From 2011 to 2013, the grocery chain will expand its store network in Davao, Rizal, Cavite, Bataan, Pangasinan, Baguio City, Ilocos Norte, Caloocan, Bulacan, Camarines Sur, Laguna, Quezon City, Legaspi City, Iloilo City, Leyte, Cebu City, Tarlac City, La Union and Albay.

Puregold largely caters to the broad C and resellers market, accounting for 65 percent and 35 percent of its market. It serves over 2 million households and 170,000 small entrepreneurs.

Early this week, Puregold started talks for the merger or acquisition of upscale S&R Membership Shopping, another retailer owned by Co, “at terms and conditions satisfactory to both parties.”

Its shares closed at P21.75 each on Thursday, down P1.50 or 6.45 percent, from its previous close of P23.25 apiece.

MVP eyes Indon TV

ABC Development Corp., operator of TV5, will invest aggressively in an Indonesian television network to provide a platform for Filipino artists.

Manuel V. Pangilinan, TV5 chairman, said he is in talks with Antoni Salim, chairman of First Pacific Co. Ltd., which owns majority of Indosair, to sell his minority stake in a holding company formed by two television networks in Indonesia.

Pangilinan said Indosair and another Indonesian TV network put their shares in one holding company that, in turn, owns TV stations.

"Technically, it’s a combination. It’s not a merger," Pangilinan said.

"We are particularly interested because hopefully it gives a wider platform for Filipino artists… We have a lot of artists, how would you give jobs to these guys?"

Pangilinan is eyeing another option, that of buying a stake in Indosiar to expand its regional presence.

Indosair’s parent company, PT Indosiar Karya Media Tbk, is a member company of the Salim Group. First Pacific, which is partly owned by Salim Group, in turn has a stake in Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT).

Meanwhile, TV5 expects to generate P5 billion in revenues next year despite the global crisis on the good performance of international channels and high ratings.

TV5 has launched the international channel in Europe and Dubai. The next target is in the United States.

Last year, TV5 revenues stood at P800 million. TV5 expects to be profitable in 2014, driven by the higher ratings of its new programs.

MediaScape Inc., a subsidiary of PLDT’s media arm MediaQuest, operates TV5 has a pending application with the National Telecommunications Commission for the expansion of its broadcast station in 52 key cities and provinces in the country

Among the major locations where it intends to expand are the town of Boracay; the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Davao del Sur, Mountain Province, and Surigao, and the cities of Baler in Quezon, Marbel, Marawi, Pagadian, Ozamis, Koronadal, and Surigao.

The network has set aside P12 billion capital expenditures for the next three years to finance the expansion of its network and construction of new facilities.

In March 2010, PLDT through its subsidiary MediaQuest, started to launch its new programs after acquiring a 75 percent stake in ABC 5 for P4 billion.

Channel 31 will be the airing TV5 in Legazpi City.

TV5 seeks NTC approval to borrow

Third leading television network ABC Development Corp. (TV5) has sought approval of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to borrow to partly finance its P12 billion capital expenditures in the next four years.

TV5 did not say how much it intends to borrow.

The network has allocated P9 billion to P10 billion for network expansion and building of new facilities. The remaining P2 billion is for programming. For this year, TV5 set aside P7 billion for capex.

MediaQuest, the TV5 operator, has pending applications with the regulator for the expansion of its network in 52 key cities and provinces in the Philippines, part of its strategy to expand its presence where the two leading networks are located.

Among the major targets are Ayuyao in Mt. Province, Davao del Sur, Camarines Sur, Surigao, Marawi , Baler in Quezon, Pagadian, Ozamis City, Marbel-Koronadal, Albay , Camarines Norte, Surigao and Boracay.

TV5 network has covered 55 percent to 60 percent of the country, and the company targets 80 coverage by year-end of areas where ABS-CBN and GMA 7 operate.

In 2010, TV5 posted P800 million in revenue. Revenue is expected to reach P3 billion this year, driven by higher ratings of its program and revenue from newly launched show.

The company expects to be in the black by 2014.

In March 2010, PLDT, through subsidiary MediaQuest Inc., acquired a 75 percent stake in ABC 5 for P4 billion and MPB Primedia Inc., the blocktimer for ABC 5, for $16 million.

Albay to ban plastic, smoking, coco tree cutting

LEGAZPI CITY—The province of Albay is set on implementing three major pro-environment and pro-health measures in an effort to curb pollution and secure a more productive future for its residents.
Two of these measures—the ordinance that bans the use of plastic and a directive against cutting of coconut trees—were now both set to be enforced while the smoking ban in public places was still being deliberated by the provincial board.
Starting June 1, Albay will ban the use of plastic bags and styrofoams by all business establishments, sari-sari stores, public markets, neighborhoods and up to the big malls.
The ordinance, which was signed by Governor Joey Salceda on February 24, provided for fines ranging from P1,000 to P5,000 for business establishments found violating the measure and cancellation of business permits for repeat offenders.
Local executives in the province’s 15 towns and three cities have promised to enforce the plastic ban and urged residents to be ready with reusable bags for their shopping or marketing needs.
City Mayor Geraldine Rosal said the ban on plastic bags would be one of the province’s major contributions to solve environmental problems.
On February 24, provincial officials also met with enforcement agencies and owners of commercial establishments in preparation for the ordinance’s implementation in June.
Albay Board Member Arnold Embestro, chairman of the committee on environment of the provincial board, said some commercial establishments here have stopped using plastic bags starting March 1.
The ban on the cutting of coconut trees in Albay was imposed by Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala effective Jan. 30, 2012, based on a representation made by Salceda.
According to the statistics of the Philippine Coconut Authority in Bicol, the coconut industry in the region supports at least 2.1 million coconut farmers and their dependents.
Albay ranks fifth with an average yearly coconut production of 38,593 metric tons harvested from 40,180 hectares, while Catanduanes turned out 13,807 MT from 14,375 ha.
Camarines Sur had the highest volume of copra in 2010 with 93,833 MT harvested from 119,045 ha, followed by Sorsogon (97,738 MT from 97,692 ha), Masbate (87,478 MT from 91,076 ha) and Camarines Norte (82,002 MT from 85,375 ha).
The smoking ban, while already enforced in Legazpi City, was still being deliberated by the provincial board’s committee on health.
The smoking ban was launched in February last year yet by the Smoke-Free Albay Network, a body created by Salceda, but “the persistent attempt of the tobacco industry in the policy-making process is impairing the smooth passage of the proposed ordinance,” claimed Rose Olarte Orbita, head of Add-Vantage, a nongovernment organization (NGO) partner of the province in pushing for a smoke-free Albay.

LEGAZPI CITY, March 1 (PIA) – The Social Security System (SSS) continues to provide members the “Text-SSS” to get updates on the status of their benefit claims and relay their concerns to SSS.
Lemuel Alwin Aragon of the Administrative Section of SSS Albay said Text-SSS was first launched in February 2010 to offer a fast convenient means to inquire about their contributions, status of their loan applications and loan balance.
The now enhanced text-SSS facility also provides the location of the nearest SSS branch and the list of required documents for the benefit claims and change in membership data, he said
Seeking SSS coverage as overseas Filipino workers (OFW), self-employed individuals (SELF) or voluntary members (VOL) can use Text-SSS services to get a list of documents required to register by sending “SSS <OFW or SELF or VOL>” to 2600
Members can register by sending their SS number and birthdate using the format “SSS REG <SS Number> <MM/DD/YY>” to 2600. Registered members will receive their Personal Identification Number (PIN) code, which s needed in Text-SSS transactions, through text.
Aragon said the pension fund posted a total of 291,600 Text-SSS transactions last year, with contribution inquiries comprising the biggest share at 44 percent.
SSS expanded their services to include inquiries on the status of sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death and funeral claims as well as medical benefits under the Employees Compensation program, which SSS administers for private sector workers.
“It saves them time and money spent in going to SSS branches for inquiries. It also helps members and beneficiaries avoid making multiple visits to our offices because of incomplete requirements,” he added.

Joint mercy mission kicks off in Bicol

Approximately 99 U.S. military members, along with members of the Philippine Armed Forces and a number of local non-governmental organizations will kick off a humanitarian assistance exercise known as Operation Pacific Angel 2012 on March 5 in Legazpi City.

Operation Pacific Angel 2012 will include medical, dental, optometry, and engineering programs as well as various subject-matter expert exchanges.

Now on its fifth year, Operation Pacific Angel is a joint and combined humanitarian assistance exercise led by 13th Air Force. The exercise is a capacity building and experience sharing effort by the U.S. Pacific Command implemented jointly with other governments, non-governmental agencies and multilateral militaries in the Asia Pacific region to provide medical, dental, optometry, and engineering assistance to their citizens. Training and experience gained in this exercise can be applied in future humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts.

Three additional Pacific Angel missions are scheduled for 2012 in the Asia Pacific region. They include
Laos (April 23 to 28) in Phonsavahn Province; Vietnam (June 11to 16) in Nghe An Province; and Nepal (Sept.10 to 15) in Pokhara Province.

Since 2007, members of the U.S. military together with military personnel of a number of Asia Pacific nations have worked together to improve the lives of tens of thousands of people through Operation Pacific Angel missions.

LEGAZPI CITY: The first US Air Force humanitarian mission in Albay dubbed as Pacific Angel 12-1 is all set as hospital tents are set at the Tactical Operations Group 5- Philippine Air Force (PAF) compound by US soldiers

The troops are aiming to cater to tens of thousands Albayanos free medical assistance.

Air Force Col. Augusto Gaite, commander of Tactical Operations Group 5-PAF and head of the Humanitarian Assistance Task Group here said his command (TOG 5 headquarters) would serve as venue for various services during the five-day humanitarian assistance program.

US medics and engineers arrived in the city last week on boarda US Air Force C-17 Globemaster cargo aircraft. The USAF Pacific Angel 12-1 is headed by Lt. Col Michael R. Black.

Two US Air Force C-17 Globemaster cargo aircraft from Honolulu Hawaii and Alaska arrived in Legazpi City Domestic Airport bringing in US Airforce’s main body along with the necessary materials for the US Pacific Command’s humanitarian mission in Albay.

US Air Force First Lt. Robert Howard, designated public affairs spokesman for US contingent, said the aircrafts will station at Clark Air Base for the duration of the humanitarian mission in Albay province.

Albay was chosen for the second salvo of US airforce’s Pacific Command (second after Laoag in 2010) due to its world-renowned practices in disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.

The mission is principally designed as an exercise in “interoperability mechanisms during disaster conditions and humanitarian situations” among military-nonmilitary organizations, local and national government agencies and foreign-domestic institutions.

Gov. Joey Salceda of Albay, chairman of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Pacific Angel 2012-1 said the medical mission is targeting at least 1,500 patients per day starting monday until March 10 in Legazpi city including the towns of Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan, Santo Domingo, Rapu-Rapu and Manito.

Navy Lt. Junior Grade Darwin Nieva, Navforsol public affairs chief and designated spokesman for Armed Forces of the Phlippines’ Inter-Agency Task Force on Pacific Angel 2012-1 said that the Pacific Angel “Bayanihan” highlights the collaboration of local government units, RP-US Armed Forces, Philippine National Police and non-government organizations.

Nieva said that aside from medical mission, the US troops will conduct engineering civic action programs and other programs related to disaster preparedness and other pertinent matters that would respond to the needs of the communities.

US troops land in Albay

LEGAZPI CITY — At least 99 troops from the US Air Force based in Guam arrived last week on board two C-17 transport aircraft craft to join the Pacific Angel Humanitarian Mission tomorrow here and in the towns of Guinobatan and Sto. Domingo, a Navy officer said.

Lt. Sr. Grade Darwin Nieva, task force spokesman, said members of the armed forces, National Police, local government units, nongovernment organizations and national line agencies are joining the Pacific Angel Bayanihan headed by Governor Joey Sarte Salceda with co-chairman Col. Arthur Ang, 901st Infantry Brigade commander.

“The US Pacific Angel mission is entirely humanitarian as there will be no military exercises,” Nieva said.

Led by Lt. Col. Michael Black, the Americans are encamped at the headquarters of the Tactical Operation Group of the Philippine Air Force in Tagas, Daraga.

According to Nieva, 20 medical and dental doctors from the military, 16 from the police and staff from the capitol together with city and municipal health offices will also join the mission.

He said the US engineering team will repair two elementary schools and a public utility in Sto. Domingo, Binitayan and Bigaa elementary schools in Daraga and Legaspi, respectively.

Nieva said the medical and dental teams would serve beneficiaries from Legazpi, Daraga, Camalig, Manito and Rapu-rapu; Sto. Domingo for the towns of Bacacay, Malilipot, Tabaco City, Malinao, and Tiwi; Guinobatan for the towns of Jovellar, Pioduran, Ligao City, Oas, Libon and Polangui.

“We will learn from the US Air Force and they will also learn from us how Albay has been globally known as champion of Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation,” Nieva said.

Yup. Based from what I've observed, sa Savemore Metrohub, kadaklan kang ngagrocery ay either yung mga babyahe or yung mejo mga "elite". Kasi its a less crowded grocery and karamihan ng shoppers ay naka-kotse. :nuts:

Kahit nga ngayon di parin ako makapaniwala na nagpumilit ang Savemore na mag-put up ki grocery jan sa Bichara maski sadayuton ang space and dai man masyado tigtatao.

This just goes to show that SM is raring to penetrate Legazpi and is defenitely persistent in establishing their presence here. Malapit na nga talaga dumating yung buong mall na yan. Haha :lol::lol::lol:

LEGAZPI CITY—The province of Albay is set on implementing three major pro-environment and pro-health measures in an effort to curb pollution and secure a more productive future for its residents.
Two of these measures—the ordinance that bans the use of plastic and a directive against cutting of coconut trees—were now both set to be enforced while the smoking ban in public places was still being deliberated by the provincial board.
Starting June 1, Albay will ban the use of plastic bags and styrofoams by all business establishments, sari-sari stores, public markets, neighborhoods and up to the big malls.

Honestly wara mang maraot sa casino eh. It will give numerous employment opportunities (High paying jobs pa naman), it will boost tourism in a place, it will also generate revenue, and its an investment magnet. Kaya lang nga, kokontra syempre nian ang simbahan. :wallbash:

2014 was the statement disclosed. I won't divulge more info basta magkaka-igwa na kita and that's 110% sure.:) SM Prime ang may last say nyan, so the earlier, the better.

At least darating na rin ang SM Mall na napakatagal nang gustong pumasok dito at napakatagal nang hinihintay ng mga Albayanos.

Pero ang pinakahinihintay ko talaga is an Ayala Mall. I hope Ayala reconsiders Legazpi. We are on our way into becoming sa Highly Urbanized city soon and with the way things are going, investments are flourishing, businesses are thriving, livelihood of Albayanos are continuously improving and more and more infra projects are coming soon. Legazpi's economy will go through the roof in the next few years.

And I think Ayala puts up malls in economically progressive and highly industrialized places.
So, I have my hopes high for an Ayala Mall :D
