it would be great if the province of Albay will search for other sources of energy aside from geothermal...

It could tap Wind for example...there are local investors like Sunwest Corporation and LKY that for sure are willing to build wind farms in the province....

or giant solar panels could be built in the denuded mountains of Rapu-Rapu...

Rehabilitation of the Legazpi Domestic Airport Terminal will soon start, construction of a two storey departure area, utilizing the other side being occupied by the Airport Canteen, that is why there is already an on going construction where the Airport Canteen will be transferred.

That is according to the owner of the Airport Buffet.............:banana:

I think, with that information, Legazpi City Domestic Airport will remain as Legazpi City Domestic Airport and the Bicol International Airport in Alobo, Daraga will be an international airport, where all international flights will take off and land........

Opinion ko lang po................about with that information.

The question is.........what about the connecting flights from international flights to domestic flights, are they still going to travel from Daraga to Legazpi City?

I thought, an evening flights will start this year. What happened?

Are they still going to wait for the full rehabilitation of the terminal to accommodate more passengers for an evening flights in Legazpi Domestic Airport?

The question is.........what about the connecting flights from international flights to domestic flights, are they still going to travel from Daraga to Legazpi City?

It will be temporary pading dan. As per my conversation with Cong. Bichara, this renovation is just to decongest the present sorry state of the departure area every time two or three flights arrives all at the same time.

The lighting I guess will push through to help decongest NAIA. It is a non issue.

It will be a traffic control nightmare if both Legazpi Domestic Airport and BIA are operational. Legazpi Domestic Airport should be closed and the domestic airport real estate should be utilized for other purposes which this forum has previously indicated.

Rehabilitation of the Legazpi Domestic Airport Terminal will soon start, construction of a two storey departure area, utilizing the other side being occupied by the Airport Canteen, that is why there is already an on going construction where the Airport Canteen will be transferred.

That is according to the owner of the Airport Buffet.............:banana:

yes they should really rehabilitate the domestic airport, hassle sa part ng mga turista na naghinhintay sa pagkaliit liit na departure area. are they pushing for the design that was previously posted here? yung may resemblance sa mayon, that will be iconic pagnagkataon.

Correct, mas malinaw pa signal kan GMA kaysa ABS CBN dgdi sa Legazpi. GMA has been in Legazpi for over 30 years now. In the early 90s they even had a local news, anchored by Cham Digarcillanosa and the late Joy Militante. But because of the station's primitive broadcast facilities, the program didn't last long.

I thought, an evening flights will start this year. What happened?

Are they still going to wait for the full rehabilitation of the terminal to accommodate more passengers for an evening flights in Legazpi Domestic Airport?

At least maiimprove ang current domestic airport.

This just proves na dakulaon talaga ang demand for flights going to Legazpi coz maski 2014 na ang opening kang BIA, the govt. will still spend money for the improvement of domestic airport. :cheers::cheers::cheers:

Not an issue. Simply call it the Awakening Lion or the Awaken Lion which signify the economic boom of the City. Again when we converse with tourists we should also add that it used to be known as the Sleeping Lion. I am pretty sure they will see the connection by pointing out the before and after or the transitions that the City is experiencing. The best is yet to come.

Spain-funded projects in Albay impress Queen Sofia

LEGAZPI CITY—Development projects funded by the Spanish government impressed Queen Sofiaduring her seven-hour visit in Albay, her first provincial trip after meeting President Aquino on Tuesday last week.
Local executives in Albay said they witnessed the seeming comfort and amusement of Queen Sofia as she visited Spain-funded facilities in the province known to her as a role model in climate-change adaptation and risk-reduction management.

Spain Ambassador to the Philippines Jorge Domecq who accompanied Queen Sofia said the P24.7-million Camalig School and Evacuation Shelter particularly impressed the Queen of Spain after she was told the facilities could accommodate 60,000 refugees without interrupting classes.

The center was built in 2010 four years after Super Typhoon Reming on November 30, 2006, left close to 2,000 people in Albay killed due to floods from Mount Mayon.

A crowd of students estimated at 5,000 and waving both Philippine and Spanish flags greeted the Queen as she stepped down the Legazpi City airport and proceeded to the Legazpi Peñaranda Park where she unveiled the statue of Jose Maria Peñaranda, the first Spanish official to become Albay governor from 1834 to 1843.

Legazpi Mayor Geraldine Rosal said people who saw the Queen witnessed how pleased she was to see the projects funded by Spain, benefiting the residents of the province. Legazpi City is the beneficiary of a sanitary landfill funded at P110 million and known as a model in Bicol.

In his Facebook account, Albay Gov. Joey Sarte Salceda described how the people of his province extended Queen Sofia a royal welcome. Salceda admitted that he was proud and overwhelmed by the visit and gesture of the Queen of Spain.

Salceda said Queen Sofia was the first foreign dignitary who visited Albay after Pope John Paul II in 1981.

“I believe we did not fail Queen Sofia in her expectations on the many Spain-funded projects in Albay,” said Salceda. “We have proudly shown Queen Sofia the facilities funded through the Spanish development agency Agencia Española De Cooperacion Para el Desarullo [AECID].”

After visiting projects in Camalig town and Ligao City, the Queen of Spain also saw the only Climate Change Academy in the country at the Bicol University here which AECID funded at Spanish €18 million or P958 million.

Salceda said Spain-funded projects in Albay have tremendously helped the people of his province, citing the case of the filtration machine which was lent to Catanduanes following the cholera outbreak in the province where 25 people died from diarrhea and more than 3,000 residents affected.

“We have shown the Queen the value and necessity of Spainish projects here,” Salceda said.

Meanwhile, the Queen reportedly said, “It was the best of the best of the best!” Sen. Loren Legarda during the cocktail reception for the Queen that followed her guided tour of the Philippines’s first permanent textile galleries at the National Museum on July 6, 2012.
