Amang makakamhan, iniitaas mi ang samong mga puso
sa pagpapasalamat huli kan mga nangangalasan kan Saimong linalang,
huli kan Saimong pangataman sa pagtao Mo

An kapalibutan nagsasakit huli kan samong mga salang gibo,

GMA Network will bring some of its biggest stars in Bicol in the Kapuso Day event on Sunday.

The activity begins with a motorcade on Sunday morning, followed by performances from the Kapuso stars in Party Pilipinas.

Click here to get the latest Kadayawan 2012 updates.

"One True Love" lead actors Alden Richards and Louise delos Reyes will perform on stage with "Just One Summer" actors Elmo Magalona, Julie Ann San Jose and Steven Silva at the Kapuso Day event at Ibalong Centrum for Recreation.

Derrick Monasterio, Kristoffer Martin, Mark Herras, Rochelle Pangilinan, Sam Pinto, and Geoff Eigenmann will also join in the celebration.

After the noontime concert-party show, the station's newest entertainment news magazine program "HOT TV (Hindi Ordinaryong Tsismis)" will go live in Bicol.

It will be hosted by Jennylyn Mercado and Raymond Gutierrez.

Bicolanos will also be treated to the Kapuso Night event, which promises exciting games for the audience and live performances from the stars.

The highlights of the Kapuso Day visit will be aired in a two-part "Let's Fiesta TV Special" to be on August 26 and September 2 through the network's regional stations in Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Dagupan, Ilocos, Cagayan de Oro, General Santos, Bacolod and Bicol.

Meanwhile, the station will also launch its newest facility in the region.

From GMA Channel 7 Naga, the network upgrades to GMA TV Bicol, which will now be seen in the other areas of Legazpi, Albay, Catanduanes, Masbate and Sorsogon.

The new station targets an estimated 520,000 plus households.

Its initial news broadcast "Baretang Bicol" is slated to run on September 3. (Sunnex)

true.if the city wants an additional tourist attraction..it could convert the Capitol area into a very nice tourist spot! iconic vertical structures and tiled or bricked roads, perfect!

Legazpi is not yet a big market for TV networks. Wara pang potential na maggenerate ki income for local based programs. Strategic lang ang location kan facilities ninda ta it covers a wide area where it could reach potential viewers ngani magtaas su ratings ninda. Arog man sana tabi iyan kaan. AMO?

Hulaton ta mag grow pa yadi na lugar ta.. its a long long way to go!

Sa advertisement naman kasi, companies target a station that has huge area coverage, established network...kahit ang company eager to advertise product is from Lucena or Tacloban, kung ang facility na yan eh nasa Albay, mag papa advertise pa rin yan dyan if the aim is to penetrate the bicol market..madami namang businesses na nasa Legazpi/Albay:

1. SUNWEST(Misibis, Highlands, EDL, ICT Park)
2. LKY

Ang isa sa problema kasi ay napabayaan ng local officials dati dyan na i shoot down ang "Perception na ang Albay at Legazpi ay baha, lindol, bagyo, etc:bash:".

i sustain lang ng Albay ang "Zero Casualty" and doing business is more fun in Albay!:cheers::cheers:

Palagay ko hinda yan ang problema....

The real problem, IMO, (sa kabila) they are able to sell themselves to potential investors as a "metro", with a market of over half a million...whereas in the eyes of investors Legazpi is only Legazpi***...so if you have a choice of market of 182,000 vs a market of over half a million, naturally you are going to go for the bigger pie...

That is why I have been advocating for the promotion of Metro Legazpi (including not just Daraga, but surrounding towns in Albay and northern Sorsogon). Our local leaders must have a plan and a vision and must not be "too modest" - modesty is good for interpersonal relations, but it is not necessarily good for business. In other words, our LGU must do a better job of promoting Metro Legazpi as a potential market for investors. Marhay na Albay saindong gabos!

***We all know this is false, but we need to point this out to outsiders, otherwise as iMilo said, "it is like winking at a girl in the dark. "

I suggest we approach them with our proposal. We can't just rely on them to be "lurking"...but who's brave enough to do this?

More importantly, the proposal must be properly drawn up, which should clearly set out the economic advantages of creating this LMDA for Metro Legazpi. The neighbouring towns and cities will also have to be persuaded to join...and local leaders can be very tribal. We might have to give them incentives to join.

Btw, Metro Legazpi is intended to be an extension of GUICADALE, which IMO is too limited and unambitious. We need to aim higher.

In other words, our LGU must do a better job of promoting Metro Legazpi as a potential market for investors. Marhay na Albay saindong gabos!

***We all know this is false, but we need to point this out to outsiders, otherwise as iMilo said, "it is like winking at a girl in the dark. "

Metro Legazpi's market is around 1 million.

Yes, its no longer the problem now..Thanks to the aggressive Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction drive by the Province of Albay..It made the province the most disaster prepared LGU and one of the safest places to invest in the country..

The GUICADALE economic platform resembles your advocacy which is now becoming a reality...its actually a very nice idea!:cheers::cheers:

Metro Legazpi's population based on the 2010 Census and how the component towns and cities are linked:

Legazpi - 182,201

Daraga - 115,804 (obvious...)

Camalig - 63,585 (residents commute daily to LEG for work/ education/shopping, leisure)

Guinobatan - 75,967 (residents commute daily to LEG for work/ education/shopping, leisure)

Ligao - 104,914 (residents commute daily to LEG for work/ education/shopping, leisure)

Sto Domingo - 32,414 (residents commute daily to LEG for work/ education/shopping, leisure)

Bacacay - 65,724 (residents commute daily to LEG for work/ education/shopping, leisure)

Manito- 22,819 (residents commute daily to LEG for work/ education/shopping, leisure)

Sorsogon - 155,144 (residents commute daily to LEG for work/ education/shopping, leisure)

Castilla - 52,903 (halfway between LEG and Sorsogon, the crossroads of the metro, potential for growth when the SLIA opens)

Pilar - 68,245 (Pilar supplies fish and agricultural produce to LEG and Daraga)

Donsol - 47,563 (Donsol relies on its link to LEG airport for its butanding tourism...nobody goes directly to Donsol...)

Gubat- 57,327 (The town's biggest cash earner, Rizal beach is frequented by people from Legazpi and Daraga)

Grand Total: 1,044,610

Addendum: In fact, I would argue that the economies of Pilar and Donsol are better linked to Albay than the rest of Sorsogon...and Castilla is practically a suburb of Daraga...

There is already an integration of the Albay-Sorsogon market...we can actually take notice of the way road networks are taking shape in these areas..:cheers::cheers:

albay's position within the bicol region makes it a very strategic place to invest in...That's why we can see from the efforts of the province of Albay to integrate not just Sorosogn ,but the rest of the provinces see how:

1. Expansion of Tabaco and Legazpi Port

2. Expansion of Pioduran and Pantao Port

3. Legazpi-Naga Freeway system!

4. Extenson of PNR all the way to Matnog

‘Party Pilipinas’ opens Ibalong Festival

https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/418853_10151138087052340_1692873058_n.jpg

It will be a legendary celebration in Legazpi City, quite literally, as it relives the epic legend Ibalong Festival this August with the biggest celebrities in the showbiz industry.

Opening the monthlong festivity is a live broadcast of the star-studded Party Pilipinas, the country’s partiest place on TV of the Kapuso network, on Aug. 12 at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation (ICR).

Stars continue to shine at the Mutya ng Ibalong on Aug. 29 hosted by 1999 Miss Universe First Runner-up Miriam Quiambao and model-actor Marc Nelson.

The fest’s highlight is the epic presentation on Aug. 30 where vital chapters of the Ibalong mythology will be re-enacted by participating contingents in a colorful parade and street theater.

Interestingly, Miriam Quiambao, fresh from winning her Miss Universe runner-up title, was special guest at the Ibalong Festival’s in 1999. A fire broke out in the hotel where she was staying before the street parade, but with grace under pressure, she was evacuated safely to meet the adoring crowd of Legazpi City.

The festival draws to a close on Aug. 31 with a Mega Concert featuring Kapamilya stars Angeline Quinto and Gerald Anderson.

Bicol’s major non-religious festival, Ibalong is based on indigenous folklore and is perhaps the only cultural event in the country which celebrates an epic.

Now in its 21st edition, the festival is a popular recreation of a mid-19th century epic poem penned by Franciscan friar Bernardino de Melendreras about the ancient civilization of Ibalong or present-day Bicol region.

Cast in the mold of the classic Greek mythology Clash of the Titans, Ibalong tells about its three legendary heroes—Baltog, Handyong and Bantong—who, with their supernatural strengths, rid Bicolandia of beasts and helped it attain its golden era.

According to Legazpi Mayor Geraldine Rosal, Ibalong puts to the fore the Bicol’s rich pre-colonial culture to remind Bicolanos of their noble beginnings and their resilient nature despite the adversities they encounter.

She said that in transforming an almost-forgotten legend into a colorful festival, the city has put a visual touch into it to make it more understood and appreciated by the people.

The month-long festivity will feature various socio-civic events, national and international sports tournaments, entertainment shows and cultural activities.

Rosal said that the event will also showcase the strides made by Legazpi City in terms of urbanization, infrastructure, governance, as well as in convention and adventure tourism.
