Brandon32 July 29th, 2009, 09:01 AM Speaking of taxes, Albay province's tax return is okay. I think what progress we see right now pays.
^ yup last 2007..Albay collected some Php1.5B worth of taxes..pero thats too way below compared to the tax collection performance of the provinces in the tagalog region
megalgzp July 29th, 2009, 09:03 AM Back in our past threads, I remember Misibis' plateau stage, or how you call that hehe. Ms. Asia Pacific, concert, live bands etc can be held there with that stage having a nostalgic view. Wooooooooh I miss Misibis!

And for a fact that Shelmed is a late bloomer. If I am not mistaken it was established only in the early eighties whereas the names I mentioned were already there for as long as I can remember. Marhay na Albay palan pading brandon, well, we could do better than their Loboc River-Lunch cum river tour. remember we were suggesting before for an EM-Cagraray Island-in a floating resto-Island tour.that's one of their best offerings and Misibis can learn a lot from the Bohol Beach Club in the aspect of extensive development and services, ugaring daing data an pagkaun sa BBC padi. Also Bohol Tropics in Tagbilaran is also doing major developments like reclaimed food and event areas. they have a lot of boating too which we could do in the embarcadero area. what are the chances of having watersports competition in EM waters? is that possible?

Watersports competition may happen but I'm not amazed with that idea. Kayaking, Yatching, or simple boat ride will do. The tourist transfer from EM to Misibis is something good that is happening using fast craft.

Siguro pading romy duman sa inotan kan Puro before reaching Maslog. What is the name of that barrio? There is a small cove there which I think will be ideal for water sports.
Yes, EM-Cagraray floating resto has a lot of potential. It will be a first in the region. Even the locals will patronize it for sure. Dai lang masyado pagmahalan an pagkaon. The facilities at Misibis is definitely better than that of Bohol Beach Club. Mas malaki nga lang ang BBC pati beach nila.

The main users of abaca (or manila hemp) are the big industries including shipping not the handicraft makers. Parang bonus lang and handicrafts. But the cheap synthetics is really hard to beat at this point. Maybe if the green movement succeeds, it wil be the hope of our abaca farmers. IPAGBAWAL AN PLASTICS!!!

^The abaca industry made Albay one of the richest provinces in the country in the later years of the 18th century and the early years of the 20th. Legazpi port was declared open to world trade May 18, 1872 by Royal Cedula. That could also be attributed to the thriving abaca industry back then, before synthetic fibers were used for ropes.

Misibis is more accesible now by using that fast craft. The price is competing with Boracay and BBC, but because of Misibis' amenities and local patriotism I would still prefer Misibis. Why is it called as Misibis btw?

Mega, if you've been to Plantation Bay in Cebu, that should be the best development for that area because the beach is not so ideal for swimming. Pwede watersports lang. Maglagay ka na lang ng magandang pantalan where players can laze around.

Related to this, would anybody know if LCC was able to retain the big lot they owned beside Waway's in Bonot? I know it was being foreclosed before by one of its bankers. Hopely, LCC was able to save it so they can use it for new development. But it should not be another mall for heaven's sake.

The former oil depots are very prime properties. But maybe, it's quite hard at this moment to think of viable projects for those vast areas. That property maybe quite expensive for affordable housing projects.
But it was a good thing that the oil depots were taken out of Gogon for safety reasons.

Brandon32 July 29th, 2009, 11:22 AM Marhay na Albay palan pading brandon, well, we could do better than their Loboc River-Lunch cum river tour. remember we were suggesting before for an EM-Cagraray Island-in a floating resto-Island tour.that's one of their best offerings and Misibis can learn a lot from the Bohol Beach Club in the aspect of extensive development and services, ugaring daing data an pagkaun sa BBC padi. Also Bohol Tropics in Tagbilaran is also doing major developments like reclaimed food and event areas. they have a lot of boating too which we could do in the embarcadero area. what are the chances of having watersports competition in EM waters? is that possible?

Me for one, I rather have to ride the plane rather than broiling myself in that Andaya highway! Gosh para kang nasa lotto booth hahaha. And the airfare is really reasonable. Kudos to PAL, Cebu Pacific and Zest Air.
^ alam mo megz...mapakaray lang ang GUICADALE..ma develop ng husto ang tourism potentials...mai position lang ng Legazpi ang pagiging ICT/BPO hub this part of the archipelago at pagnatapos na ang SLIA...hindi lang Davao-Legazpi flight yan...may malalapit tayong neighbors in the pacific...andyan ang guam, hawaii, etc...hindi masama mangarap lalo nat kung ang Pilipinas ay nangangarap maging develop country by 2020..hehe

No Dex, it should not be Bagacay, because Bagacay comes after Maslog. It should be Tamaoyan. But yes, it's that small cove there in the picture that I am referring to.
It cannot be Tamaoyan, Tamaoyan is the barangay near Rawis. When we go there to visit our relatives, dumadaan pa kami sa Pagasa National High School. Tamaoyan is north of the city proper. And being there, it's near Mayon.

drfeelgood17 July 30th, 2009, 02:02 AM Those forumers who are 30 years old and below may not yet be that aware when Mayor Triunfante was first elected mayor in 1988. For me he has been one of the best performing mayors of Daraga. Maybe even better than Pedro Marcellana. I am saying this, not because I personally know him, but because of his accomplishments. I think he is one of the honest politicians around and of this generation who have not enriched himself during his encumbency. Mayor Ching Triunfante comes from a very decent family and it shows in his behavior. (I know he likes the bottle, but he knows when to stop. :)) For sure he still wants to do so many things for Daraga, but there are a number hindrances that is probably preventing him from implementing it. First, Daraga's income can no longer cope with the needed developments for the town's rapidly increasing population. Secondly, Daraga poblacion is just too small to implement new developments. Example, the perenial traffic problem in downtown Daraga is really hard to solve because you have very limited alternative roads. When I last talked to him, he said that he envisions the redirection of Daraga's urban development to the mountain barangays and I guess it is being slowly implemented. But the lack of funds greatly affects its continuity.
My two cents worth of analysis says, that Daraga at the moment is fast reaching its peak as far as income generation is concerned. If no radical changes are introduced, its poblacion might just experience an urban decay just like the city of Manila. Legazpi City is a different case because although its present urban area is fast becoming saturated, the city's income gets bigger with the entry of new commercial establishments. With these, it can still afford to implement measures that will prevent urban decay.
There are possible ways for Daraga to improve. One is to convert itself into a city so its income will increase that will be commensurate to the needs of its growing population. However, this may not totally guarantee its progress because no matter what, possible outside business investors will still opt to go to Legazpi City for prestige. Second alternative is to merge itself with Legazpi for good. An integrated Daraga and Legazpi will have a lot of potential. We have had a very exhaustive discussion of this in the thread. Business locators who would want to locate in Daraga will no longer hesitate because it is now part of Legazpi. Maybe even Aquinas University will no longer hesitate to relocate to the hills of Daraga as rumored. The combined income of Daraga and Legazpi is really something to look forward to. As I have mentioned in my previous posts, the merger has the capability to generate a combined income of at least P750,000,000. Just imagine the projects that can be done with this amount for both areas.
I hope Mayor Ching will still be healthy enough to run for another term.
BTW, is former Mayor Jerry Jaucian the son of the former Mayor Vicente Jaucian who has been mayor of Daraga for the longest time? I think Vicente Jaucian was already the mayor of Daraga when it separated from Legazpi in the early fifties. I don't know, but my guess is that, the separation was plainly due to politics. You know, political accommodation, just like the proposal to divide the province of Cebu into three different provinces.
Marhay na Albay saindo gabos.
Perhaps, Garycooper, you could persuade your acquaintance, Mayor Triunfante of the economic and social benefits of a Legazpi-Daraga merger (or more accurately, a reunification, a la Berlin). :)

hakz2007 July 30th, 2009, 05:25 AM First-half investments down 71.6% (http://www.malaya.com.ph/jul30/busi1.htm)
BY IRMA ISIP
Investments committed with the Board of Investments (BOI) and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) during the first semester amounted to P79.68 billion, down by 71.8 percent from P289.1 billion during the first semester of 2008.
In a joint report released by the Department of Trade and Industry, the BOI and PEZA reported that there was strong pick up, however, from P17.98 billion in the first quarter to P61.7 billion in the second half quarter.
Industry secretary Peter Favila said he remains confident the Philippines "might yet meet its investment target of 0 to 5 percent growth this year" despite a slow start as the country reels from the effects of the global economic slowdown.
Favila chairs the boards of both BOI and PEZA.
"As the world economy begins to pull out of a recession as shown by positive signs of generally improving economic and financial conditions in most economies worldwide, although at a snail’s pace, its provides impetus for a modest investment performance of the country in 2009," Favila said.
The report said the approved investments involve 340 projects and are expected to provide direct employment to 55,533 people.
Elmer Hernandez, undersecretary for industry and investments, said the second quarter investments were in electricity, gas and water supply, with P29 billion; information technology services, P6.48 billion; and manufacturing, P4.3 billion.
Local investors remained the major source of investment during the semester with committed investments of P60.97 billion or 76 percent of total.
Foreign investors contributed P18.70 billion. Hong Kong residents led with P3.91 billion, followed by the Japanese with P3.32 billion, Americans with P3.16 billion and Britons with P2.2 billion.
The top five investments for the first half included the two geothermal power projects of AP Renewables Inc. in Makban and Tiwi at P13.18 billion and P9.54 billion, respectively; construction of eight IT centers and one incubation building in Baguio, P3.94 billion; mass housing projects of DMCI Project Developers, P3.02 billion; and, the 17.5 MW biomass power generating plants of Green Power, P2.03 billion.
Hernandez said investments in the power sector are mostly in the renewable and green sector, which bodes well for the country as it aggressively addresses growth demands for energy in the near term while ensuring that the sources are renewable and clean as well

megalgzp July 30th, 2009, 01:38 PM ;40422114']CEB passenger traffic up by 38%, takes pride in increase of monopoly routes in 2009 (http://peanuts.aero/low_cost_airline_news/airline/28606/59/CEB+passenger+traffic+up+by+38%25,+takes+pride+in+increase+of+monopoly+routes+in+2009)
With a 38 percent increase in passenger volume during the first six months of 2009, CEB spokesperson Candice Iyog said that CEB is very close to meeting its target, especially with the removal of fuel surcharge for domestic and international flights in January this year.
“We are also proud that we opened up a lot of routes this year that only Cebu Pacific flies to. This strengthens our market leadership as we provide new routes and more convenient air travel to a lot of Filipinos across the country,” she added. She cited flights from Cebu to Legazpi and Siargao as great examples. “We are the only airline flying between the Visayas and the Bicol region. Likewise, we are also the fastest way to Siargao, the surfing capital of the Philippines.”
The lowest Go Lite fares for Legazpi and Siargao from Cebu is P1,188. Passengers with check-in luggage will just add P200 to the fare. Other monopoly routes are Cebu to Roxas, Cotabato, Dumaguete, Clark, Puerto Princesa, and Surigao. CEB is also the only airline to fly from Manila to Cauayan and from Davao to Iloilo and to Cagayan de Oro.
Most of these routes started this year, and has collectively flown almost 100,000 passengers during the first six months of 2009. Gokongwei-owned CEB has flown over 36 million passengers since its inception in 1996. It now flies to 32 domestic destinations and 14 Asian cities from four hubs, utilizing the youngest aircraft fleet in the Philippines.

I called Manila office about the possibility that the Legazpi-Cebu route will be transferred to Naga. They said that's a rumor and no truth in that information.
I called Zest-air, PAL, Cebu-Pacific etc. The Legazpi flight is a good market. BTW PAL will add more flights to Legazpi and considering PAL express to add some flights in Legazpi for lower fare. I asked about the possibility of a PAL lounge in the soon-to-rise SLIA, they said definitely it will happen.

[dx] July 30th, 2009, 03:46 PM The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Region V has just released their Quarterly Regional Economic Situationer for Q2 2009 (http://neda5.net/qres/qres_2q_09/primer.htm).
Here are some highlights:
Investments:
The United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) has earmarked US$ 2 million for shelter development, livelihood, and disaster preparedness for three provinces in Bicol prone to natural hazards. UNDP committed to assist provinces with location and natural attributes that are prone to natural hazards such as earthquakes, tropical cyclones, prolonged flooding, landslides and volcanic eruptions. It would finance projects in the provinces of Albay, Camarines Sur and Sorsogon for shelter assistance in targeted resettlement sites.
Projects would include support for micro finance and quick impact livelihood as well as capacity building on disaster preparedness and mitigation, including early warning and risk assessment and contingency planning. The tracking and coordination mechanism on early recovery and recovery efforts in typhoon-affected areas forms another component.
The Land Bank of the Philippines extended total loans to its priority clients in the Bicol region amounting to P2.429 billion as of the end of 2008. Land Bank’s priority clients included the agrarian reform beneficiaries, small farmers and fisherfolk in general, cooperatives, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), agri-infrastructure projects of local government units (LGUs), agri-business and environment-related projects.
Of the P2.429 billion, P956 million or 39 percent went to agri-infrastructure projects of LGUs while P640 million or 26 percent were coursed through small farmers and fisherfolk, cooperatives and other financial conduits such as rural banks, irrigators associations and non-government organizations benefiting a total of 219,225 farmers in the Bicol region. The total loans extended to SMEs reached P540 million or 22 percent of the region’s total priority sector loans in 2008.
Two vital infrastructure projects worth over half a billion pesos are set to be pursued this year to boost the economy in Albay. Gov. Joey Salceda, concurrent RDC chair, said some P700 million in infrastructure investments would be used to start construction of the proposed Bicol International Airport (Southern Luzon International Airport) in Daraga, Albay and the rehabilitation of the Pantao Port in Libon, Albay.
The two pipeline projects gained approval at the RDC Chairmen’s meeting held in Malacanang where the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) committed thru the PPA the restoration of the Pantao Port in Libon town. Salceda said PPA has commited to rehabilitate Pantao Port in the third quarter of this year. PPA has allocated some P100 million to start restoration work at the port’s phase 1 area.
A new road network that would directly link four towns of Albay (Camalig, Guinobatan, Jovellar and Daraga) to the town of Donsol in Sorsogon province was endorsed for funding by the Regional Development Council (RDC5). The project involves the construction of 26.9 kilometers of roads and five bridges with an aggregate length of 75 linear meters that will cost P814.5 million. The fund would be sourced from the Secondary National Road Development Program (SNRDP) of the Millennium Challenge Account, Philippine Compact Program (MCAPCP). The project will have a positive impact on local tourism since the new road network will provide a shorter and safer access to Donsol town, known worldwide for whale shark watching and interaction.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has earmarked for the province of Camarines Norte some P251 million in various infrastructure projects this year, P108 million of which was meant for roads and bridges under the economic stimulus package. Projects for roads and bridges include, among others, two foreign-funded bridges worth P30 million. Ten locally funded national roads and bridges projects have also been lined up, as well as P40 million worth of other infra projects from Congress.
This year’s infrastructure fund allocated for Camarines Norte is 21 percent higher than last year’s P199 million. The projects being implemented are the concreting of the Quirino-Andaya Highway along the Camarines Norte road portion, improvement, rehabilitation of the Maharlika Highway, and the concreting, improvement and rehabilitation of some national and secondary roads in the province.
Development Outlook
Economic prospects that would likely affect regional development in the next reporting period:
the tourism sector to remain as a bright spot for the region as more festivals are lined up across Bicol and amid the prospect of a joint DOT promotional package between Bicol and the Central Visayas region;
implementation of the construction of the Bicol International Airport (Southern Luzon International Airport) at Alobo, Daraga, Albay to proceed as scheduled with the completion of its Feasibility Study, and the opening of bids on April 30 and May 15, 2009;
rehabilitation of the Pantao Port to commence by the third quarter following an upgraded port design;
speeding up of the revival of the PNR with the scheduled repair of the tracks starting in May, which will pave the way for the resumption of commuter train travel from Manila to Naga City to coincide with the Penafrancia fiesta in September this year.
implementation of microfinance and liveliohood projects in disaster-prone areas of the region through UNDP’s funding assistance;
implementation of more Kalayaan sa Barangay projects in those barangays that were cleared from rebels;
more opportunities to be provided by both the government and private sector for the employment of Bicolanos, who have lost their jobs locally and abroad in the wake of the global economic meltdown.

megalgzp July 30th, 2009, 03:51 PM Futuristic urban planning is what makes Legazpi different. From streets, to proper zoning etc...organized! When these BPO, IT, Embarcadero, LKY, SLIA, Ivory Tower Hotel operate, that would be the big bang I'm saying. The effects will be up to the entirety of Bicol. Slowly but surely. The best is yet to come. Where in this world will you get Mayon?
megalgzp July 30th, 2009, 04:02 PM His dreams are immense. He wants to make Albay a highly economical competitive province, seeing numerous local development projects to be put in place and raise from the rubbles, troubles and hardships it had recently passed through.
With Joey at the helm, his pet projects like the Pantao Port will be rehabilitated to ensure the smooth flow of trade and commerce. Pioduran will be a recipient of the many changes that will bolster not only the town’s sorry economy, but help the province as a whole with the erection of the Pioduran Regional Port and the completion of the Ligao to Pioduran road. Both projects have been in bad state for as long as we can remember, and it is only now that they will be finished.
One of Joey’s top priorities is the construction of the Daraga International Airport. Here he hopes to create a new hub of commerce where he can also promote Albay as the gateway of tourism in the Bicol Region. His plans include the transfer of the Bicol Regional Center in the same area, which will open the volunteer relocation of more than ten thousand families out of the path of destruction of mudflow triggered by typhoons and Mayon Volcano’s wrath.
At the center of this economic project is Joey’s GUICADALE Program, which stands for Guinobatan, Camalig, Daraga and Legazpi. These three towns and one city will be the host to new relocation centers for both the people of Albay and their trades. Infrastructures will be put up strategically to ensure that access to these areas are easy and investors will see the potential of the new economic zone.
Another priority move would be the saving of ALECO from a crash due to its mounting debts. With a P1.4 billion debt hanging over its head like the proverbial Sword of Damocles, ALECO is in grave danger and Joey has plans to ensure that Albay will this time be spared from such woes. Before his three-year term ends, Joey hopes that not only will Albay be able to have a steady supply of electricity, but also a lower cost down to about five or six pesos per kilowatt hour.
Rounding up Joey’s 4-pronged development program is CRABS, comprised by the four Albay islands of Cagraray, Rapu-Rapu, Batan and San Miguel. A four island summit will take place and here it will be discussed, what steps should be taken to alleviate poverty in these areas.
In a magazine interview, Joey stated, “We need to give more emphasis on infrastructure because of its multiplier effects on many sectors of the economy.”
No one can stop him now. Joey can see the future clearly and much ahead of the others. His dreams are not spontaneously weaved but they emanate from a passion to give every family a better life. Unlike other dreamers, he wants them to become a reality.*

Brandon32 July 31st, 2009, 03:18 AM I called Manila office about the possibility that the Legazpi-Cebu route will be transferred to Naga.
^ at bakit daw may rumor na i transfer? hehe...maniwala ka dyan...airline companies know best where the most strategic place for airline route is....at alam nila kung saan talaga pumupunta ang mga tourista....ang caticlan airport is a small airport pero tingnan mo naman ang flights ng cebu pacific/zest air/pal...oras-oras...that indicator would tell me that boracay is really being flocked by tourists...it shows!
pwedeng maloko ang common tao about figures but airline companies...ewan.

LEGAZPI CITY—The Regional Development Council (RDC) for Bicol has introduced a new economic-growth area in Albay province that is not exposed to the hazards being posed by Mount Mayon.
Called the Guicadale (Guinobatan, Camalig, Daraga, Legazpi) Platform, the project would be made up of a circumferential and new arterial roads cascading from the urban centers of this city and the municipalities of Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan and Jovellar.
“The project will involve new road openings and improvement of existing ones with a total length of 109.3 kilometers. It will consist of 17 sections, of which 11 sections will comprise the circumferential road and the 16 arterial [roads],” Romeo Escandor, regional director of the National Economic and Development Authority (Neda) and RDC cochairman, said on Wednesday.
The initial total project cost is estimated at P854.2 million. Funding for local roads will cost P739.5 million, while the national-roads will need at least P114.7 million, Escandor said.
Funding for the local (provincial, municipal and barangay) roads would be shared by the provincial government of Albay and the five local government units (LGUs) concerned, while the national road component would source its funding from the regular budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways, he said.
The Guicadale Platform will benefit a total population of 187,314 covering the city and the four municipalities, as well as the neighboring areas, the Neda regional chief said.
The project was designed by the RDC primarily to encourage new economic and human activities in Albay that are safe from the threats posed by Mount Mayon eruptions, lahar flow and flooding. It is one of the strategies in the formulation of the Disaster Risk Management Plan to redirect development efforts from threats of Mayon disasters, Escandor said.
It is also in consonance with the Regional Physical Framework Plan in terms of land use, settlement and infrastructure planning, being supportive of the interprovincial and interregional transport linkages to Northern Luzon as well as to the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
“Hence, it must be included in the Luzon Transport Master Plan as a priority project for development,” he added.
The circumferential-road component of the project will serve as its main conduit of commerce to reduce transportation costs of agricultural produce and farm inputs.
It will also link the agriculture production areas to market centers and provide efficient access to health, education and other social services among constituents within the platform, thus contributing to the improvement of the peace-and-order situation in the area, Escandor said.
New economic investment opportunities will be opened up within these four municipalities and one city covered by the platform and, at the same time, provide safe relocation sites for victims of natural calamities in barangays down the slopes of the volcano, he said.
“The perceived direct and indirect economic benefits of the project include agricultural development, trade and investment, tourism, disaster mitigation, peace and order, and efficient delivery of social services,” Escandor explained.
The RDC, Escandor said, is already preparing legwork for the conduct of a feasibility study to ascertain the viability of the project based on the benefits that could be derived from it.
The responsibilities of the involved agencies in the implementation, operation and management of the project will also be outlined in the feasibility study, he said.
Also to be primarily considered in the feasibility study are the commitment of the involved LGUs for the cost-sharing scheme in financing the project, and the informal settlers or squatters along the road right-of-way that would be affected, Escandor added.

hakz2007 August 1st, 2009, 03:14 AM In your earlier post, you said Bacacay was a first class town. Anyway, I am surprised about Santo Domingo and Jovellar being classified similarly.
Bacacay was earlier reported by the Bureau of Local Government and Finance as a 1st class municipality and the municipality of Tiwi as 2nd class but reclassified it again as 2nd and 1st class respectively.
Changes are being made due to some adjustments as what I'd posted before that some municipalities and cities in the Philippines have no classifications yet as they are awaiting for their final reports and adjustments.
Tiwi has been reclassified as a 1st class because of its share from the geothermal power plants...

Is he pertaining to Bicol International Convention Center? It was rumored to be put in Tahao Road. Cross my fingers and toes!
Also I like this Pasalubong ng Bayan. This is all good!
i think its the ICR(ibalong centrum for recreation) megs, because he is pertaining to an existing building if i'm not mistaken:)

WOW LEGAZPI: Some business people are complaining about this project. What will be the effect of this development to the existing business in the old downtown of Legazpi?
ROSAL: Sa maniwala kayo o sa hindi, nung una ayaw nila ang lugar na ito kasi malayo raw at pangit. Pero because of what happened, ito na ang magiging sentro. We have the convention center here. This Tahao Road and Alternate Road is now the new CBD. Anytime now may mga papasok diyan na offices like call centers; they will be employing about 1,000. Nag-expand yung business district ng Legazpi. Hindi mo na puwedeng sabihin na this is outside the business district. Baka mahatak pa yung mga iba dun sa sentro papunta dito. Maraming mga hindi taga-Legazpi na gustong pumasok because they see the potential. And remember, in every business, human traffic is very important. Eh nandito na lahat ng sasakyan eh. Hawak mo na dito. Lahat ng mga taga-Sorsogon, yung mga aalis papuntang Manila, papuntang Leyte, dito yan dadaan lahat. So, this is a reality na talaga. Even Sunday may patrabaho sabi ng mga friends ko sa Daraga. Madaling matapos ito. I wonder if earlier pa nga before 2013. Still Legazpi has the most number of flights kung i-add mo lahat ng flights per week. And dumadagdag pa. The distance of Legazpi to Manila is convenient to ride a plane. Magbus ka man o plane, mas tipid pa nga sa plane and convenient kaya di lugi. And mas cheaper and airfare ng Legazpi to Manila esp ang PAL. PAL yan di basta basta. I feel safe pag PAL talaga.:)

Brandon32 August 2nd, 2009, 05:04 PM ^ bakit may northern bicol ba? iisa lang naman ang bicol ah....
gurugeri August 2nd, 2009, 05:09 PM BTW, Daraga terminal project has begun. Nagpapatag na sa whole area ng terminal. I mean pinatungan na ng lupa yung what used to be rice fields. If the town proper were at Penafrancia and Tabon Tabon area, matagal nang city ang Daraga.
megalgzp August 2nd, 2009, 05:13 PM I hope they won't pursue that because there is LKY. Dapat suportahan ng todo ang LKY.
gurugeri August 2nd, 2009, 05:15 PM ^ bakit may northern bicol ba? iisa lang naman ang bicol ah....
Hahaha, you took it literally. It's like this: "Malilipot is in eastern Albay," hence there is western Albay. I think all the directions apply to any place as there are northern Philippines and southern Philippines. Going back, northern Bicol includes Cam Norte and Cam Sur, whose educational center is obviously Naga.

You wish. Tuloy na yun. May patong na ngang lupa eh, and may access road na on both sides. Yung mga tindahan dun sa harap will be "demolished" para makita naman ng mga tao na may terminal pala dun. Sabi nung tricycle driver na nasakyan ko kanina tuloy na tuloy na yun. Take note that before anyone comes to Legazpi through the Maharlika Highway, Daraga is the one that beckons. Hayaan mo na nga sila.
Brandon32 August 2nd, 2009, 05:22 PM I hope they won't pursue that because there is LKY. Dapat suportahan ng todo ang LKY.

gurugeri August 2nd, 2009, 05:37 PM ;40675444']^I guess the road is only temporary or for easy access of the machines, trucks needed for the preliminary construction activities at the site of the future airport.
I agree. Tsaka hindi sya mukhang four lane. Mas malawak pa dyan ang four-lane highway, excluding the shoulder, which reminds me of that long road from Gen San to Koronadal City. Apparently, Luzon's streets, with the exception of the two expressways, are comparatively narrower than those in Mindanao.
That's one kilometer away from centro. I don't know if Daraga-Legazpi can use it. Siguro yung mga papuntang third district pwede pa, Tsaka yung mga jeep from Daraga to Pilar, Donsol, Castilla, Sorsogon City, and other barangays of Daraga like Anislag, Lacag, Bigao, San Ramon. Ito yung mga nakaparada sa kung saan-saan sa town proper. Daraga-Legazpi jeepneys are basically "mobile" except when drivers are resting or eating.
gurugeri August 2nd, 2009, 05:45 PM I'd like to add that there are also vans from Daraga to Naga, Donsol, Pilar, and Sorsogon City. So part of the terminal would be for vans from Daraga to the aforementioned locations.

Excerpt:
In Legazpi City, former Senator Victor Ziga said Albayanos were close to the heart of the late former president. Aquino’s first campaign sortie out of Manila was held in Albay in 1986. “During the campaign, we had to protect her very well,” Ziga said, since at that time, they were considered to be in the opposition.
Ziga recalled that Aquino had to sleep in the house of his in-laws, the Velascos. Bicol gave Aquino the biggest number of votes in the 1986 snap elections, he added. “Bigger than what her region gave her.”
He said the Bicolanos were already tired of the Marcos administration then. He called on the Albayanos to pray for their former president and attend the memorial mass at 5 p.m. today at the Albay Cathedral. Ziga became senator when Aquino was president.
While Ziga was minister for general services in the Aquino administration, she proclaimed him one of her 24 senatorial candidates in 1986. Ziga said he was flying to Manila on Tuesday to attend the wake.
