The Den first thing in the morning lol
The older brick building in the 4th last pic? What is it please?
I'm guessing that takes you almost 40 mins, depending how fast you walk.
Ellatur February 4th, 2005, 10:49 PM what city is this?
Muse February 4th, 2005, 10:50 PM what city is this?

It used to be a museum of brisbane or something, its in the corner bit of the R and A showgrounds, not sure of the proper name of it tho
Muse February 4th, 2005, 11:59 PM Thanks Danny.
It's just there are some buildings in the same (Queen Anne) style not so far from where I live that are run by TAFE. Love it.

you cant see it in this pic, but that guy on the ground had just vomited all over the steps in front of him, i thought it was photoworthy. :)

Danubis February 6th, 2005, 04:09 PM Found this article in MapMagazine (free local bris mag) refering to this building in the pic that I took

THE OLD MUSEUM BUILDING
Cnr Gregory Tce & Bowen Bridge Rd
Although you may confuse the building for an old, semi-rundown church, The Old Museum Building (TOMB) is really the Grand Pavilion and the original Queensland's Exhibition Building and Concert Hall for the RNA showgrounds. Built on an aboriginal tribal campsite known as Barrambin, the site first became gardens where the Acclimatisatin Society, in 1863, grew and propagated plants and seeds from around the colony and the globe, as a form of quarantine. Sections of this colourful garden still remain today.
Architect GHM Addison designed the Heritage-listed venue which today is a rare and stunning example of Byzantine and Victorian architecture. It was built in 1891 with four steam engines, over 300 labourers, and 1.6 million bricks, in record time of only twenty-three weeks! The building's Concert Hall, complete with a large pipe organ, was used as Brisbane's major venue for balls and concerts, hosting historical performances by Dame Nellie Melba and Paderewski, prior to Brisbane City Hall being completed in 1930. For the next thirty-four years the Concert Hall was to become a visual arts venue, housing the Queensland Art Gallery, which relocated to the Cultural Centre in 1974, and the Queensland Museum, which followed suit in 1987.
In the past decade, this venue has become Brisbane's premier independent arts centre, housing many of Brisbane's large community arts organisations: Queensland Youth Choir, Queensland Youth Orchestra, Queensland Rhythmic Gymnastics Academy, Odyssey Creative Productions, Zen Zen Zo Theatre Company, Planet Radio 88FM and many more. Even today the size, grandeur and spectacle of this glorious pavilion with its towering domes, is indeed a showpiece in itself, inspiring a new generation of Brisbane youth. The Old Museum is possibly set to have a (long overdue) full $8million renovation this year. Queensland Government's long awaited restoration will launch Brisbane's Grand Show Pavilion into the future.
