Actually the CIA factbook gives a population of 775,000. Thats not counting the Turkish settlers which probably number around 80,000.
Highest peak: Mt. Olympus in the Troodos mountain range at 1950 meters
GDP 2003
Greek side: About 15 billion
Turkish side: About 1.25 billion

Kuvvaci,

Yunanlilari catlatiyorsun. :hahaha: :hahaha: :hahaha:

May I ask what you are saying? What is so funny?

Its not enough that Kuvvaci comes in here and posts pictures of the illegally occupied region of Cyprus, do we have to see you speak in turkish so that we dont understand as well?

And to you Kuvvaci...I sometimes wonder what your true motives are. You come in here and pst pictures of the illegally occupied and unrecognized parts of Cyprus and you expect Greeks to smile and say, "my! how nice!" Are you for real, man? Is this in the spirit of your so-called "brotherhood" with us? Please remove these pics as it is a slap in all of our Greek faces.

To Icy: speak English or get out of here. The mod has made the same statement once.

@Leafs Fanatic

1. I posted these pictures with the permmision of chicagogeorge who is the owner of this thread and these are Cyprus pictures too.

2. You can't questioning mt actions and my motives, because you are the one who always jump into Turkish threads without permmision, unlike me. I asked chicagogeorge first, this is not anything you do.

3.About illegaly occupaition... This is a poltical subject and out of our thread as you see, I just sent nice pictures of Cyprus as everyone can see. We can discuss it as well, but here is not a good place for it. I didn't say anything about politics...

Indeed very beautiful island.

For those who have been, my favourite beaches are by far, KONNOS in protaras and CORAL BAY. If you do find photos of the above mentioned, please include, for all the forumers to see.

Also the Limassol motorway, by the coast, with the palm trees, is quite spectacular (and you might have heard of the huge roundabouts project under construction there, reminiscent of the roundabouts opposite SEF in Athens !!!!!!!).

Having lost count on the times I have visited the island, I can say how much I agree with Giorgos Seferis quote and that the TRUE MIRACLE of Cyprus, lies in its people. Unrivaled hospitality that can only humble you !

Other favourite spots are cavo Greco, the Troodos range where Makarios Tomb is, Moni Kykkou, Kourion, the banana plants in Pafos (!), the AMAZINGLY well organised paths for tourists in Troodos that pass through the forests, PLATRES, the whole of Nicosia that I have fallen in love with.

Ayia Napa on the other hand was the place I least liked. Kitsch !

Foinikoudes is Larnaca is really beautiful. As well as some newly renovated houses in Lefkara !

A unique place that you instantly feel at home !

I'm new in this forum, I make some mistakes, I'm sorry. I'll write in English.
I said something like "that's not a good idea". Personally I would never have posted these in the Greek forum.
Why are you so agressive, you don't know me. I don't like fighting, didn't you receive my message?

Yes you are right gocaps :okay: but both of them Cyprus and Cypriots live in the both sides, no matter what are their origins. And they meet and see eachother everyday. Some guys got angry with me because I posted these pics, but you must know that Greek Cypriots passes the North everyday and have fun there, they go to the casinos and beaches and see what I sent to you. don't let politics get involved and see something in human situations. Do you think Geek Cypriots don't come to Turkey? They come although it's over Greece... See, human relationships and situations are so different, more different than politics...

Do you REALLY believe that GOING to CASINOS constitute PROMOTION OF HUMAN RELATIONSHIPS ???

Gee !!!!!

You pledge to stay out of politics, but you ARE giving a political spin to the above.

Well YES, the GR-Cypriot UNDERWOLRD does GO to the casinos in the NORTH ! DRUG SMUGGLERS, pimps for human trafficking etc.

The vast majority of GR-Cypriots who cross the North, do so to go back to their properties, villages, churches, and most of them do it ONCE.

Also Turkish Cypriots go to the south to apply for a EUROPEAN passport, see the places they were born, many have jobs in the south, or buy goods from supermarkets, and see a lifestyle that could not be ANY more different to theirs.

The thing IS that by ADVERTISING the truly filthy casinos (a deeply political act on this forum) you do not achieve much, IN THE TRUE SPIRIT of GOOD NEIGHBOURING AND FRIENDSHIP !

The problem in CYPRUS is POLITICAL and requires A POLITICAL SOLUTION ! Human relationships ARE NOT BUILT IN CASINOS ! They are built through a CULTURAL agenda, through the YOUTH culture, with concerts, sports, joint UNIVERSITY programs, studenships, EDUCATION, Trade, commerce and ULTIMATELY POLITICS!.

God help US, NOT Through casinos ! If you rely on CASINOS and the beaches to bring the two communities together, we will wait for ever !

The gap between the two communities is SHOCKINGLY vast, and has to GRADUALLY be bridged through UNDERSTANDING !

Advertising the subculture of CASINOS, as a MISLEADING EXHIBIT to disguise poverty, and lack of understanding, is at least for me, quite sad.
The TWO WAY crossing and the OCCASIONAL visits of 40 Gr-Cypriot Nurses to Haghia Sophia, certainly do NOT constitute the EPITOME of human relationships.

And back to the photos now .....

I see that you didn't understand what I meant, or don't want to understand...

Look! I could answer you in another way, but I don't want to hurt many friends in this Greek forum. It's better you don't force me! Everyone already saw what kind of a man Poli is a few days ago.

Also you may not question me and my words! Who are you? I have even Gr-Cypriot friend and know something very well. You have no right to question me...

PATRONISING as EVER !

It is a FREEK SPEAKING - FREE THINKING public forum and I CAN question WHAT YOU WRITE, AS MUCH AS I WANT.

So spare us the SMEARING CAMPAIGN ("everyone knows who Poli is blah blah blah").

I said SPECIFIC things REGARDING your post (and NOT YOUR PERSONALITY).

I REITERATE : If out of EVERYTHING you could come up with, for the "promotion of human relationships in Cyprus", the BEST one you could come up with is the CASINOS, I REPEAT i find it REALLY sad !

That IS all. I am ENTITLED to an opinion. If you find it offensive REPORT ME to the moderators.

Dont try to blur the line ! No DRAMA please, either ("I dont want to hurt the greek forumers".

I made a VERY SPECIFIC CIVIL comment about YOUR post and the CASINOS aspect, in PARTICULAR.

Firstly you can't question if I achieve a friendship or not.

I don't play drama, you can't know this, because you don't know my relationship with the guys of Greek forum, and Greeks in my real life. You speak without any information...

What I meant to say with Casinos was people of both sides use the opportunity of eachother. It was just an example, but you didn't want to understand this.

Poliochni
February 10th, 2005, 02:28 AM
Very SIMPLY, i DID not like that example. Lets just say I Prioritise things differently !

The whole "CASINOS' issue is a VERY controversial one, hence I could not HELP but question how come and out of ALL the various human, touching stories (or NOT so touching), you came up with ONE that only fuels bitterness.

Anyway, I will no further elaborate on what you think is a SUCCESSFUL example and what I think is a very UNFORTUNATE one.

I f you didn't like the example this is your own problem. But this is a truth you should face... Yes, most of the Gr-Cypriots go to casinos, this is a reality! Don't turn the subject of threadsto the politics, because after this line probably it will turn...

You guys just drop it. I mean seriously what is the point of wasting your time fighting? When you stay here for a longer time you will realize you cannot change the other persons mind so ther is no point in trying.

Kuvacci believes one thing, Poliochni believes another. It does not matter we dont have to believe the exact same thing all the time.

I am really sick of fighting. I am not going to live to see the day when Greeks and Turks have normal realtions but if we can just try to put our differences behind us our future generations may.

I am seroiusly thinking about leaving the forum for good since I am so tired of fighting on every thread. Anyways hopefully it will end but probably not. That is just the way it is.

I agree with gocaps, our fighters should rest for a while.
Cyprus is a major political issue that even UN and USA or
Europe cannot resolve, because of it's deep political problems.

There is no reason for fighting here, you've got the northern part by war,
and nobody recognizes it in the whole globe except the US. That is ok.
Keep the fucking place, but don't post any other pictures. You are conquerors
of Cyprus not friends. And now get lost, this thread is about FREE Cyprus not
the occupied territories by Turkish troops.

Both cypriot nationalities ARE THE SAME in mentality!! I have alot of gr- and tr- cypriot friends and turkish friends. The sad true for both countries is that the cypriots (south and north) are NOT REALLY fond of the mother-nations.!! As Giorgos69 correctly wrote, our success is also theis success and our misfortune is simply...hours..!! Of course this is not for 100% of their population, but is statistically significant!

See...my opinion really changed when I first came to UK. Alot of cypriots here, from both sides, you see!!

I don't answer to you because I don't want to fight. If I answer to you a fight will start and you know this very well. You talk about not fighting but use each opportunity to provoke. Who is double faced? Did I say anything about bad for Greeks so far? But you are talking about not figthing but you always try to fight with your negative words about my country...
