really depends on the angle you'd like.
Some really great shots of Downtown can be taken in Angelino Heights [Carroll Avenue].

Mulholland drive! There is a park just south of the 101 that I find to be prime skyline, and you get the hollywood skyline as well.

Thanks! And does any of LA skyscrapers provide an access to its rooftop or high floors so you can observe the whole dowtown area?

I dropped by the satellite location of the observatory tonight. It was pretty cool, but I wish there was more. I know that the actual observatory had and will have much more...I guess it was just a "sneak preview" of things to come. They did have a display showing what was in need of repair and what expansions will be made. It looks like it's going to be really cool when it's finished and I will be first in line to visit the newly opened observatory!
