Bubach, thanks for the pics of Dubrovnik suburbs. Until now, I could find only pics of historic center of Dubrovnik. These pics show another face of city :)

Thanks guys :)

I just thought it would be interesting to post some photos of different faces of Dubrovnik that most of people are not very familiar with, although there is more of the suburbs that could be shown here, just wasnt able to find it yet. :)

@Ozcan
Why does it remind you of 'a little Instanbul'? I am just curious, never heard any comments like that before at least not on Dubrovnik.

Actually, there are some sandy beaches around Dubrovnik, maybe you should explore more next time you end up in that area ;) :)

What do you mean with around?15-20 km? I couldn't see any in Dubrovnik.

Of course there aren't any in Dubrovnik, primary it is a hystorical and cultural destination. Sandy beaches are not 15 or 20 km away from the city either than a lot closer. It's just hard to explain where exactly they are...cuz they are well hidden from tourists invasions ;) :)

Actually there is a sandy beach which I visited in Dubrovnik. Its in the western suburbs and was a very busy spot. If I have time, I'll see if I can locate it on a map or at least to which locality its located. It was definately sandy as I spent the whole day there. There are also other sandy beaches near Dubrovnik too.

Great thread! I was also really interested in seeing how suburbs of Dubrovnik looked like.

SinCity, on that map you posted, where would the position of the new bridge be?

KM, if you look at the map in the top left. Where it says "Nuncijata" is where the bridge begins. This is Gruz district. I saw a good pic posted here on this part of Dubrovniks suburbs that includes the bridge.

This is the pic of bridge and suburb of Gruz with the bay to give you some idea on the western part of Dubrovnik .... There are also more suburbs on the left side looking at the bridge that are not visible ...

Gruz has gone through rezoning to mixed used developments.

it will be a hit, its being hailed as the dubrovacki downtown.

@bubach_hlubach,
I just meant the nature, the green hills(with pine trees) together with the sea reminded me a little of Istanbul, I'm not talking about the whole city off course.

Istanbul's population is about 11 million:D

I see, but the nature like that is very typical for the entire Croatian coast, as well as for coasts of Greece, Montenegro, Italy, Portugal, Spain, France and so on and on.

I remember we discussed this a little while ago. I know Dubrovnik is getting a flash passenger ship terminal and I also some retail/commercial projects. I'll see if I can dig them up.

Cool pics :) I've always been very curious as to how the rest of Dubrovnik was like (as well as the extensions of other such cities for that matter). I went there once as a small child (actually I had a house there) so I really don't remember it much.

Anyway, that's the way suburbs should be built :yes: (though as you said, this part is quite old as well)
