640 million $ ?

That's the loan that Donald got from Deutsche Bank. How much was the entie cost ? He must have put money down for making the down payment.

Hi everyone! I went to Chicago over the weekend for some things going on and I had so planned to visit the Trump site and get some updates but alas, we didn't have any time to do that. I *think* I saw it from the highway we took out of town but as we were underground, I could only see the main columns and the corebox.

Sorry, maybe next time.

Trump says sales towering

By Susan Diesenhouse
Tribune staff reporter
Published May 10, 2006, 3:00 PM CDT

Real estate developer Donald Trump today said sales have been brisk for the 92-story Trump International Tower and Hotel being built on the Chicago River, formerly the site of the Chicago Sun-Times.

"We're here to tell you how well we're doing," said Trump in a news conference here. "We sold 78 to 79 percent" of the units valued at about $725 million, "almost the cost of construction," he added.

"It's a great tribute to Chicago and what's happening here," he said.

Trump, who was flanked by his son and daughter, all dressed in basic black, estimated total development costs at about $775 million.

"We expect to sell out all the units within the next 12 to 18 months, prior to the opening," Trump said, adding that he will keep a few for his family.

He said residents will begin taking occupancy in the tower early in 2008.

With this visit, Trump had been expected to "create buzz" to crank up sales for the Tower. One analyst, Gail Lissner, vice present of Appraisal Research Counselors, said the project was not in trouble.

"With occupancy still about three years out, that's not a troubled project," she said.

I always try to look towards the cranes going down LSD when I'm visiting my sister who lives in Chicago. It seems like a very small space to be building such a large tower when I drove right by it, but I didn't get a close up look at it...anyway, this tower is going to be sweet!

woah.... overground parking in a skyscraper... i dont think ive seen that in a building of this size. isn't that dangerous?

explanation?

BVictor1
May 13th, 2006, 10:01 PM
explanation?

what's to explain? if the designers, city or developers had thought it were dangerous, the building wouldn't have been designed that way.

maybe it's my inquisitive mind... i just require a bit more substantial evidence than that. not that im looking for a reason to doubt it's structural soundness, i would just like to know; for instance what would happen if a large blast occured inthe car park?

I'm not sure what you're getting at. A terrorist attack like the 1993 bombing of WTC? If so remember that this building is for the super-rich and I don't know if your average terrorist would be able to get in.

If its something else, like some freak case where a car just blows up randomly, well first I doubt that would happen and second I'm sure SOM and all the other well established firms designing and constructing this tower have some safety procedures set up already.

First of all I don't see why there will be a difference if the parking is over or underground. In contrary a undergroung blast might be even more dangerous, due to closure.

Second, I think why they are doing this, might be becouse the approximity to the water and possible high water table on the site. Becouse of this reasons most of Dubai's skyscrapers have overground parking too, either integrated in the base of the buildind or in a separate structure behind them. It saves alot of dos going this way.

Don't worry about Dubai when building the Trump Tower, b/c it won't be looked as being better than Chicago just b/c the BD surpasses the Sears Tower.
