Vietnam’s tallest skyscraper, a 60-storey office building, will be built next to the State Treasury in District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The building will have a steel framework and glass walls and be built at an estimated cost of 96 million USD by the Binh Minh Import-Export Company.
Construction of the project is scheduled to start before April 30 and to be completed in 30 months.
City Mayor Le Thanh Hai and Vice Mayor Nguyen Van Dua on Feb. 2 had a working session with relevant agencies in regards to the project.
Currently the city boasts the tallest skyscraper of Vietnam, which is a 33-story office building owned by the Saigon Trade Center.
Vietnam’s northern hub Hanoi has also planned to build a 60-story office building by 2010.
rark February 10th, 2005, 12:27 PM is that a helipad? if it is... it reminds me of burj al arab
tq February 10th, 2005, 02:15 PM Hanoi hasn´t planned a 60-story office building by 2010, but a 65-story building, which will be then the tallest in Vietnam, the "HAnoi City Complex".
renell February 17th, 2005, 10:47 AM Very ambitious. Any height figures?
RafflesCity May 6th, 2005, 10:32 AM so is this under construction?

Þróndeimr October 18th, 2005, 08:50 PM This project was posted at the Construction Updtes forum on the World forum as well (here (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=266746)). Seams like there are no construction pix yet though, we really need one, especially if the construction ceremony was already held in early may.
Anyway, its a great tower, Saigon will attract many eyes on the project! :okay:

KnightRiderBMW October 19th, 2005, 03:56 AM For the 154th time... it's not under construction.
Is it not going to be constructed at all? Or work just hasn't been started on it yet?
sqd October 19th, 2005, 09:01 AM I prefer to see VietNam work in less glamorous buildings and use the money ( in this case $100 mil) to do something that has more substance and realistic like building/improving the road system or start putting money away to invest in R&D projects to develope hi-tech industries.
Lemongrass October 19th, 2005, 10:31 AM Vietnam is equally in need of good office buildings to house representatives of foreign investors as well as for domestic companies. Both needs to go hand in hand.
I've yet to see cases where economic development does not result in construction of highrise office buildings.
Besides, office space in Saigon is so expensive that it often deters alot of potential investors who want a foot in the door. Cheaper office rental/more highrises will facilitate foreign investment and instill confidence into the economy and in the eyes of foreign investors. Nothings shows off a country's rising prosperity better than the construction of such buildings.
Baria October 19th, 2005, 04:19 PM Vietnam upgraded and built many schools lately. You can see it for yourself while in the country. It also invested in Quang Trung Software Park for R&D in Saigon. They are working on what you think VN needs.
dao7 October 19th, 2005, 05:16 PM Someone have a picture where this building will build? And How it progess?
coolink October 19th, 2005, 05:39 PM and the vn paper said this project was the fastest plan-approved-broken ground project
Þróndeimr October 19th, 2005, 06:33 PM For the 154th time... it's not under construction.
Sorry i didn't know, probably because it has not been said in the international forums much yet. :)
