tournesol February 12th, 2005, 02:12 PM Thanx for the tour designwise. :)
The picture quality is quite good for a phonecamera...
I thought Kamppi was much closer to completion. It has been uc for quite some time now, right?
Btw, are you sure it's the biggest construction site in Northern Europe?

Kamppi is an area in Helsinki. The construction site is massive and includes an underground bus terminal which should become the most modern in Europe. Busses leave and enter through underground tunnel networks.

Not bad, design is quite ordinary, but i like it. And in terms of size, how big is it? I mean whole U/C area in hectares?

My ultra-modern university.
Polytechnic, you mean.
designwise February 12th, 2005, 08:59 PM Polytechnic, you mean.
Nowadays it's a so-called "university of applied sciences."
designwise February 12th, 2005, 09:11 PM One more rendering of the Kamppi area :

Kamppi used to be where the Swedish & Imperial Russian armies were stationed.
The Russian Army’s Turku garrison was completed in 1833 at the site of the present Glass Palace. The three-storey building was designed by C.L. Engel, but the project was ultimately realized according to the drawings of colonel Burmeister in 1830-1833. The garrison burned down in the civil war on April 1918.
Oberleutnant February 12th, 2005, 09:27 PM Nowadays it's a so-called "university of applied sciences."
:) True, but it ain't university level institution in Finland -- people might get wrong impression.
Different polytechnics got all these individual names, some are "Colleges", some "Universities of Applied Sciences" (like Arcadia, as you mentioned), while most call themselves polytechnics.
Even on Arcada website reads "university of applied science (polytechnic)".
Student programs at Arcada are undergradtuate degrees, aren't they? When finished with your studies, people there will be tradenoms (though in your case with the International program you'll be a BBA)
University level institutions in Helsinki region
Academy of Fine Arts
Hanken
Helsinki School of Economics (HSE)
Helsinki University of Technology
University of Art and Design
University of Helsinki
Sibelius Academy
Defence College
Theatre Academy
However, the quality of teaching and studying in Finnish polytechnics, especially in more "prestigeous" places like Helia, Arcada and Stadia, is good. And besides, your school's building is totally awesome. ;)
NorthStar77 February 14th, 2005, 08:05 AM I can see all the photos now(I couldn't on Saturday). Really nice for a mobile-camera:)
