:eek2: Wow, I have not heard about this before...:runaway:
Urban Sjøfront is the largest master-plan development project in Norway, even larger than the Fjordcity development project in Oslo as far as i know.
Not quite correct though. The total area of this project is on 60 hectares, while the area for Fjordcity is on 225 hectares. It is nearly on the size of Bjørvika though, with 70 hectares. Bjørvika will have 4-5.000 apartments when finished, while Urban Sjøfront will have 3.000, according to bt.no.
But it is nevertheless a great project!! Seems they want to build a tram through the area too!

That was what i thought as well, but i saw some articles say that. So i was hoping you to say this, because i did not know how many hectares Urban Sjøfront was.

Indeed! But the stadium will probably not be realised, because they have already built a new football stadium. But i am a bit confused with this articles yet, so don't expect anything.

Verven 34
Verven 34 is a old seahouse, today situated close to Stavanger Brygge. The house is now been rebuilt into a residential house. The building is expected to be completed in june, with 16 modern apartments. The building will then have a new facade, but the old part of the house will still hold the construction in shape.

Sunrise Tower
Stavanger Aftenblad (15.2.2005) (http://web3.aftenbladet.no/kultur/article178164.ece)
A "Worlds Tallest Building" title might be found in Stavanger in a few years. They are now planning to build the world tallest building in wood, in the middel of the Urban Sjøfront project.
The project is named Sunrise Tower, and might become as high as 55m, with 14-16 floors. The tower is planned to be completed to 2008, when Stavanger is the arranger of the european cultural capital. "Norwegian wood" is one of the concept to the Stavanger 2008, and this will be a exellent motto for the concept. The tower material will be wood, exept the buildings ground material which will be concrete and steel beams. A architectural competition has been started, and the proposals will probably be presented to the summer.

Heh, so in the future we may have something that is tallest, that is good news:D
So many new projects here. Transforming old industrial sites into apartments in really popular these days. But that transformation called Verven 2 is not that good imo. It still looks too industrial, I think.
Didn't notice before how massive Stavanger Brygge is:

Yes, its pretty massive. Btw, behind it you can glimpse the silo buildings, they will be reconstructed into residentials/offices as well. Im not sure about when any architectural competition will start though.

Wow, that`s an awesome development. Stavanger Brygge looks cool, some buildings look too "nordic" and average to me.
