In Vancouver Canada there is a lot of talk about China's massive expanding economy and how Vancouver is becoming a gateway for trade to Asia in general. Our ports can barely keep up with the cargo being sent and recieved mainly from China and are going to triple there size by 2020 to help meet China's demand. Our provincial and federal governments both consider China a new very important powerhouse that could potentially become one of our biggest trading partners (and surpass the U.S.)

Sometimes Vancouver is even reffered to as Hongcouver by the rest of Canada because Chinese people live all over the city and not only in small areas.(it was in the news recently that richmond has the longest life spans in the world at 84 years mainly due to its wealthy immigrant population.)
Vancouver has a population of 2 mil and over 300 000 of them are Chinese. The suburb of Richmond (pop 120 000)is 55% Chinese and we have one of the largest chinatowns in North America

I was just wondering what the general public as well as the government think of all this. I will post some pics, feel free to post some of China (especially shanghai)

In Silicon Valley of California, there is a city of about 50,000 people with a reasonably sized Chinatown. Its really nice and not as dirty as some of the dense ones. BTW cupertino is home to "Apple" headquarters
