A pretty decent low-rise... too bad they had to give it such a stupid name... makes me think... Mother Tower... and another thing... when will we stop giving the title "Tower" to all our buildings? If this is a tower... then so is my school LOL.

Ameer, yeah it is an interesting choice of name and youre also right about the tower thing. I think this building is 10 floors maximum which aint too bad but ... i dont know there seems to be a trend in Pakistan to call any building above 2 floors high a tower :lol: ... anyhow my personal opinion is that there are loads of these types of building under construction ... this will serve to change the scapes of certain cities. By that i mean that these types of buildings will be common ... so call it whatever they want lol ... as long as they keep building em :) .

yes it is being built. I checked out the site on my trip back in the summer. The foundations had been erected and the site had been prepared. Work was going on. Unfortunately, couldnt get a good picture.

Classic Tower, Ali Tower, IT Tower, Makkah Tower, and now.. Amma Tower.

These names are so bad that I think we need a person whose sole job it is to approve building and street names. I'll go ahead and nominate myself.

Rule #1: No building under 100 metres can be called a tower
Rule #2: No housing development can be called a "city"
Rule #3: Showcasing the building name in huge letters across the top of the building itself is not allowed, because let's face it: a) nobody wants to be reminded what the building's name is, b) nobody cares

Seriously though, if anyone in Pakistan can forward these rules and any amendments other members would like to make to an appropriate person, maybe some sort of miraculous butterfly effect along with Allah ta'allah's mercy can save the next naming disaster.

I passed by this project a few days ago, seems like the base couple of floors are all already complete. They look great too. Seems like good quality construction to me. I will try to take some photos as soon as its possible but this project is in a really congested part of town, I hope they have a LOT of parking space.

There seems to be this new phenomenon in Karachi called a 'Mobile Mall'. Basically, its a mall for cell phones. I think one shopping center probably came up with this idea and then a whole lot of other shopping centers all over Karachi rapidly started copying it (being a nation of copiers as we are...) and now you can see adverts for different mobile malls all over the city. Personally, I think the concept is pretty absurd.

Also, I had to battle the traffic of M. A. Jinnah road to get these photos so dont forget to give me a pat on the back. I was thinking of taking some photos of the horrendous traffic of M. A. Jinnah as well but then I thought that it would be negative publicity for Karachi. The road seriously needs mass transit. Please start writing to whoever official contacts you have or whatever newspaper you know of so we can make a concerted public push for mass transit in Karachi.

Also, this project is one behemoth.

This is one of the most congested parts of Karachi with a lot of traffic turning from M.A. Jinnah Road onto Abdullah Haroon Road right at the corner of this Amma Towers. If (as is usually the case) there is no parking facilities for people inside this Amma Tower then there is gonna be a hell of a rush right at this important corner.

A guy in my office was about to buy this apartment, but decided against it. The apartments had two floors of shops at ground level. Just a few days later they named it Mobile Mall, and the prices of the apartments (let alone the actual shops) tripled in a day or two. The malls do earn a lot of money, by the way. So nothing wrong with having a lot of them, as long as people are earning good money. What's surprising is that these malls remain open till 12 in the night.

I think Amma Tower will look nice once it completed. Does any one know why the hell they are charging Parking charges of 200,000 Rs/Apartment. Is it legal.

Definately looking better now. Get rid of the tacky angular detail on the roof + make windows bigger and we'll have a real winner.

It would've looked 3x better, had the put some steel/glass on the exterior instead of cement/bricks.

It's not the flashiest building in town, but that's a good thing. Too many builders these days are screaming for attention and this project is the opposite. It's a very humble and will stand the test of time for sure. Just get rid of those pointy things on the roof.:)

Does any one know the latest construction status of Amma Tower Residental Apartments. The project was scheduled to complete in 2007 but I have stillnot received any possession/completion letter.

Does Amma tower still exist or has fallen victum to the karachi situation. I have booked an apartment and would appreciate if soe one could post construction update

Amma is mostly built and maybe they're still doing the finishing. You should call them directly and speak to them. Then come back here and update us.

Amma Tower is not Low Rise its mid rised 13 floors+

The current status is that the apartments are ready for handover and the developer is in the process of getting the lease regiestered for those you have paid all their installments and documentation charges.

I saw the Amma tower, beautifully built and looks great. Iniially, I thought they would never be able to complete it with such long delay but finally they made it happen. I heard that people have moved in the apartments but not sure about it.

I surely believe this project is one of the top-notch projects in best vicinity in the town..
Excellent mall..
The management believed to be offering shops for rent in very cheap rates..
I do see this project to beat Star-City which is beside it.. due to its high furnishing in the mall.. Along with with main-road facing + excellent interiors in the Apartments..

Amma was complete few years ago. No pic of complete bldg . Here it is

Mods, please change status to 'Completed'. Also change the height description from 'Lowrise' to 'Highrise'.

No need to put highrise or lowrise because in other common threads we never use highrise or lowrise,
But Amma tower is mid rise or if its height is under 49 meters than it is lowrise. Nice Building :cheers:

OK! But if it is highrise then Ocean towers and Centre Point are also Skyscrapers.....


According to International rule:

Supertall: +300m
Skyscraper: 199 - 299m
highrise: 100 - 199m
midrise: 50 - 99m
lowrise: 0 - 49m

But since we are not aware from the heights of many buildings, so we should called their rise level according to their actual floors.
