A good design, does not always lie in its aesthetic or efficiency, it must also be sensitive to its context at the pedestrian level (located at the ground level).
A new and exciting development is underway to complement the CAHB and its surrounding area. This development will transform the general surroundings into a vibrant and beautiful commercial center at Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman area. A new 20 storey Office building, 4 level Shopping Center, a 16 storey Service Apartments and a Pedestrian Promanade will elevate the area into a commercial hub of Kuala Lumpur.

nazrey February 14th, 2005, 03:30 PM Celcom Corporate Office , Seberang Perai Penang
The project is a design competition for Celcom's corporate headquarters in Seberang Jaya. In our proposal we introduced two identical oval or curvilinear-shaped high rise structures around an open central courtyard at the ground floor.
We approached this building as a sculpture which will rise from this low lying area. Its curved walls and slanting roof profile were designed to demonstrate the interplay of the two structures.
We also proposed the use of metal cladding and off-form concrete to accentuate the exterior facade of the building.

Access into the site is along a one-directional road, the Jalan Raja Laut, a major entry from the South-Bound Freeway, Jalan Kuching (also refers to the Inner Ring Road). Also, from Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman via Jalan Esfahan can be used as another option.
Alternative route via Lorong Gombak, will avoid delay at Jalan Raja Laut due to the traffic lights at the intersection of Jalan Dang Wangi. Recently completed Star LRT Line, with the Bandaraya Station fronting the site, has tremendously improved the traffic congestion on Jalan Raja Laut.

To design an all suite hotel which is to be located on a thight 1/2 acre site at Jalan Sultan Ismail. This 6 star luxurious hotel will only have 150 rooms including "super floor", a luxury penthouse suite which takes up one entire floor.
The swimming pool, a restaurant and other amentities are located on the roof top to take ful advantage of the city view.
The clent's request for a traditional building form structured on a classical base-body-head hierarchy was incorporated into our design but articulated with a modern architectural language using metal louvers and glass.

nazrey February 14th, 2005, 03:43 PM Bridge and promonade, Kuala Lipis Pahang
1st prize Winner - Category 1 - Malaysian Structural Steel Association - 2003 ideas competition
Steel is expressed in our design through a sculptural form to depict a sense of place at this Kuala Lipis site.
The arch like structure provides a sculptural form and at the same time act as an entrance to both sides of the river. The soft cell covering of the “entrances” provides shelter from the harsh tropical climate and protect users from the heavy rain and sun . A jetty and stage are placed at the foot of the supporting structures to create activities .
The Iconic shape of the bridge symbolises friendship, connectivity and to “bridge” the gap of two communities (that is until now divided, by a river). It resembles a traditional roof form that would stand as an identical structure interpreted in a modern form. It also symbolises a pavilion that follows many Architectural form to denote a transition of space.

A separate area facing the sculpture is also designed as part of the dataran to allow for flag raising ceremonies.

PPB Group Bhd’s 54.2% subsidiary Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) is investing up to RM48 million for the building of two cineplexes with a total of 26 screens, says GSC chief executive Koh Mei Lee.
It is opening 13 screens at 1 Utama in Petaling Jaya by June this year, with an investment of RM18 million. It is also investing between RM25 million and RM30 million for a cineplex at KL Pavilion in Bintang Walk to be opened in the first quarter 2007.
“With the opening of the KL Pavilion Cineplex, we would have a total of 121 screens in 19 different locations,” she told reporters after PPB Group’s AGM in Kuala Lumpur on May 12.
GSC now operates a total of 95 screens in 17 locations, including the 18-screen cineplex at Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur, which is the largest cineplex in Southeast Asia and the largest distributor of Chinese and independent English films.

Yes....it is. But I dun think people would ever forget the stadiums and I am not into demolishing both structures either. However I would love to see em developing the areas surrounding the stadiums like Araneta Centre in the Philippines. Development could enveloped the stadiums and could complement em as well ;)

fairul October 20th, 2005, 09:00 AM I-Berhad to develop land with stakeholder
October 20 2005
HOME appliances maker I-Berhad has proposed a joint venture with its 49.72 per cent stakeholder, Sumurwang Sdn Bhd, to develop 29.08ha in Shah Alam with an estimated gross development value of RM483 million.
The proposal is in line with its previous announcement indicating interest to diversify into property development to generate better returns amid stiff competition in the home applications manufacturing business.
The I-City Selangor project will comprise an innovation centre, retail centre and shopping fair.
I-Berhad told Bursa Malaysia Bhd yesterday that I-City Selangor will be an urban centre incorporating the latest advances in information and communications technology (ICT).
“Sumurwang is the landowner and I-Berhad has been appointed as the exclusive ICT solutions provider for the whole development, besides being the property developer and project manager tasked with developing certain parcels of the I-City Selangor project and seeking joint-venture partners for the others,” I-Berhad said.
The estimated gross development cost, excluding cost of land, is up to RM266 million.
The project will be developed in phases, with the maiden launch targeted for the first quarter of 2006. The total development is expected to take eight to 10 years.

The masterplan is by Jerde - an excellent architectural and urban planning firm. The same firm that made Bellagio, Fremont St Experience, Roppongi Hills, Canal City Hakata and a lot other world class projects.
Only one comment though. Why not build this city within Cyberjaya, when its main selling point is IT. Cyberjaya seriously needs this kind of development to give it a new lease of life.

Mah Plans A RM246 Mln Landmark Tower On Newly Acquired Land
October 10, 2006 18:20 PM
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Property developer Mah Sing Group Bhd today inked an agreement to purchase from Yeung Siu Tong Sdn Bhd, a piece of prime freehold commercial land including a completed four-storey basement carpark and structural pilling for RM53 million.
The land, with a total saleable built-up area of 406,115 square feet, is located along the prestigious Jalan Tun Razak here.
It has a net area of 39,461 square feet and is expected to generate an estimated RM246 million total Gross Development Value (GDV), Mah Sing said in a statement Tuesday.
The company's group managing director, Datuk Leong Hoy Kum, said the move would enable the company to realise its dream of carrying out a project that would bring a new character and design to the surrounding areas.
It expects to build a RM246 million world class iconic tower on the land.
"This is the beginning of our vision to become a world class regional developer," he said.
He also said that the proposed acquisition was in line with the group's business model of identifying strategic landbank with fast turnaround time for a high return on equity (ROE).
"This latest addition in Mah Sing's stable of premium developments has been acquired with approved development plans for a twenty-storey service apartment," he said.
The group intends to further improve the development plan by exploring into offices, luxury service residences, home offices or Single Operator Home Offices (SOHO) suites concept, Leong said.
"Being in the heart of the financial and commercial district and within walking distance of the iconic KLCC, we are confident of sustainable value for the development in the future, with potential capital appreciation," he added.

the words u r using describing u r not an architecture student..right?
its not weird but the approach is to be an international style resident with eco-tech approach. the wide wall is seemingly a shear wall, whilst the spaces function as the natural bulding cooling and ventilation system.
the approach has slowly emerge in Malaysia, but there are almost regular in Singapore. better take a look :)

This new extension for the Islamic Museum is located next to the existing Islamic Museum. It is however separated from the existing museum. The building is divided into two blocks with a central courtyard.
The elevational treatment is a modern interpretation of Islamic architecture based on traditional motifs.

Lastresorter October 24th, 2007, 12:12 AM TAYLOR’S LAKESIDE CAMPUS
Malaysia’s First Modern-Tropical University Campus
In response to the ever-pressing need for knowledgeable human capital, Taylor’s University College is building a state-of-the art modern tropical university campus to meet the need of students and in line with the nation’s goal of becoming a regional center of education excellence.
The unveiling of the RM450 million Taylor’s Lakeside Campus plans recently comes at an exciting phase in Taylor’s 38-year-old history and underscores its continued commitment to self-development. It marks another milestone in Taylor’s history where great strides have been made since 1969. It is no coincidence that the completion of Phase 1 in 2009 heralds the occasion of Taylor’s 40th anniversary.

http://www.taylors.edu.my/imageupload/Lakeside4-02Jul2007-165906.jpg
The Lakeside Campus will house all existing tertiary programmes, currently located at Taylor’s various campuses in Subang Jaya and Petaling Jaya. Set on 27 acres of tropical greenery near Jalan PJS 7/5, the campus will be surrounded by a revived 5.5 acre man-made lake, as well as a landscape of water plants, trees and flowering shrubs and groundcover which will provide a rich and stimulating natural environment in the neighbourhood.
Earthwork for the Lakeside Campus has started in February 2007 following the Unveiling Ceremony that was graced by the Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Haji Mohd Najib Tun Haji Abdul Razak. The first phase is aimed for completion in July 2009. Completion is expected by July 2009, and will cater to 4,000 students for the year 2010.
