Pollution is shit around half of the time, though I'd imagine it is a bit lower after the Olympics since people are taught to be less polluting, and not all of the pollution controls haven't been relaxed yet (odd-even license plates still in center city, relaxed in suburbs though).

The crown definitely needs some work, but all construction was stopped during the Olympics. The lighting scheme is great though.

Beijing is really becoming the Asian Sao Paulo, but even better, since it has taller buildings (Sao Paulo's tallest is ~180m) and more daring architecture! The Olympics have truly totally transformed Beijing, the sea of highrises you see weren't even a developed area 20 years ago. Plus the quality of the filler buildings is rising rapidly, it used to be just high rise commieblocks, but now there is great design in almost all projects!

they probably just tried to finish this buidling's outside as fast as possible, so it looks better for the olympics, unlike a half finished cladding. Same goes for cctv headquarters.

When I was there a couple of weeks ago, both sides of the street were in use. I guess the rear lights don't show up as well on the photos.

^^ rush hour effect. I believe in the morning when traffic is heavy on another direction, the other side of the road will be fully occupied.

i dont think it looks like sao paulo, because Beijing's CBD is well define, in saopaulo, i cant find the CBD from looking the Skyline, the style is definitely different, and why cant beijing just be beijing, Beijing is so unique, you can never find a city with a enormous Palace as the city center, and CBD surrounding it

^^I know, just in that pic, the CBD looks like a sea of highrises, and the rest of Beijing is still a mid-rise sea. But you're right, the CBD in Beijing is more defined, and it has so much history, you can't find that anywhere else!

It's a very interesting tower. Makes me think that the Twin Towers had a kid with IFC 2 in Hong Kong. I like it, certainly adds a distinct shape to the ever changing skyline.

Gorgeous building, although eerily similar to the original WTC towers. I assume that was intentional because of the name.

I used to think that NY should rebuild the towers as they were, but upon seeing this one, I think it might be too disturbing for some of us to see them standing there again.

What I like about this tower is it's deceptively complicated, not the simple block that it makes out.

Get closer and you'll notice the struts and zigzag facade, not to mention the crown:

You've obviously never been to Beijing and just judge it from a couple of photos that are being posted here.

Sure the Chaoyang skyline might not seem really impressive when seen from the top of Jingshan Park, but just take a drive or walk along one of the 3 inner ringroads around Beijing and you'll see nothing but highrises for kilometers on both sides.
