Great glass 36 story residential going up at East 57th street. Looks really great. Here's some info and a rendering.

Current status:

Meanwhile, another Clarett Group project is already going up on 57th Street with a design by Ismael Levya Architects. This one, located at 207 East 57th (where a movie theater once stood) is all glass. The crystalline curtain wall could be one of the better ones we've seen on a residential project. Just 68 units will populate 36 floors.

Here's a description of the project:

Place 57, located at one of the world’s most international addresses – 207 East 57th Street, is a 36-story, 68-unit luxury condominium designed by Ismael Leyva & Associates. This project will prominently feature a Baccarat Lobby and Baccarat Garden designed by Vicente Wolf. Place 57 is expected to open for occupancy in early 2006.

great tower! Really great, and it should be around Lex ave, so I think it should align well with Bloomie's and Citicorp.

the design's quite uber, although it resembles 505 5th quite a lot.

sounds like the building's gonna be located on the block southeast of bloomberg tower. which definitely means more density for northeast midtown.

The 36-story Place 57 tower has recently been topped out and is already about 90 percent sold out.

A project of the Clarett Group, the mid-block building at 207 East 57th Street will have 68 condominium apartments when it is finished next spring. Clarett recently developed the 64-unit Opus at 2770 Broadway on the Upper West Side and is building Sky House, a 54-story condominium tower at 11 East 29th Street and Chelsea House, a 13-story condominium project at 130 West 19th Street Its other projects have included the handsome Post Luminaria at 385 First Avenue at 23rd Street.

The attractive, blue-glass façade at Place 57 is about 80 percent finished.

The building was designed by Ismael Leyva and its northwest corner is sharply angled.

The building will have a 24-hour doorman, a fitness center, a residents’ lounge, a children’s playroom, concierge service and individual storage units.

There will be no more than two apartments per floor on average. Other amenities include a 24-hour doorman, fitness center, resident’s lounge, children’s playroom and individual storage compartments. A concierge service is available.

The mid-block building occupies the former site of the Sutton movie theater.

Working in partnership with famed crystal maker Baccarat, features include a lobby with crystal lighting and decor and an outdoor garden ornamented with chandeliers. Both are designed by interior designer Vicente Wolf.

wow, I never even noticed it, and it's already topped out.
The facade looks better on the render, but I guess that's how it usually is.
