The pic is quite good but which "god" are you talking about Fabian? as there are many different ones worshipped by people.
You have to be very carefull to not offend others on this forum assuming everyone shares your beliefs and that includes me!
Dean February 18th, 2005, 02:47 AM there is no god. just ask those affected by the tsunami.
and if by chance he is around... he's the biggest under achiever in the history of the world.. he just has a great publicist.
Dean February 18th, 2005, 02:48 AM btw. good pic too. ive always loved the neon lights on top of 1 o'connell st.

Is there really such a need to be so pedantic towards polical correctness in this forum?
uewepuep February 18th, 2005, 04:13 AM I'm an atheist and I still think its clever photo.
barney how does a photo with a cross in it offend you? You're overly sensitive.

I also think yop have to be carefull to bring any particular religion into these froums.

I believe that as the forums are viewed by a world wide audience that we have to keep in mind other peoples concepts of "God" which will be a lot different to the narrow view of some people .I can understand where fabian and Cull are coming from as they are both professed Catholics but that is their private matter. and we dont need their religious fantasies projected as the norm.
next thing we will have the photo with magical powers of haeling and raising the dead!
Are not the forums about skyscrapers and buildings.
Malt February 18th, 2005, 06:12 AM lol @ religious discussion emerging for a simple observation of a cross.
CULWULLA February 18th, 2005, 06:14 AM hey i think i can see an image of Mary in Australia square? lol
hey fab, better change thread name, looks like yourve stirred the pot.

I'm making a reference to the Christian (and Jewish) God given the "sign" represents that of the Christian faith (the cross or crufcix). Also I think it's inappropriate to refer this as a sign from the "skyscraper gods" as mentioned in the thread title. Just mentioning God is enough.
Personally I don't want this thread to turn into a debate over religion. I do respect the religious beliefs of people on this forum but I'm trying to present things from the way of one faith ie Christianity.
Malt February 18th, 2005, 07:23 AM its a cross for GODS sake.
he saw a cross, and noted the sign for chirsitanity is a cross.
Its quite simple an innofensive.
The fact that people on here actually went to the effort to complain about it is pathetic.
christarrant February 18th, 2005, 09:21 AM good pic fab, nice to see a bit of imagination and creativity in your fotos.
zulu69 February 18th, 2005, 09:26 AM Great pic Fab, very clever.
Its amazing to see what ppl can bitch about these days, chill out.
If it offends you then i wonder if you watch the TV or any PG+ rated movie.
DamienK February 18th, 2005, 09:37 AM From wikipedia:

Whenever the sun shines on the Fernsehturm's tiled stainless steel dome, the reflection appears in the form of a cross. This effect was not desired by the planners; no one realised that it would look like this in advance. As a jibe against the atheist foundations of the Communist government, and the ongoing suppression of churchly institutions in East Germany, Berliners immediately named this phenomenon; they called the luminous cross Rache des Papstes, or "Pope's Revenge".
christarrant February 19th, 2005, 01:11 AM on the topic of GOD, we all know that he doesn't live in the SYD CBD - he lives in the eastern suburbs and commutes to the CBD, duh ! ;)

Eastern Suburbs and Lower North Shore is God's country.

People in the Sutherland Shire are always saying that they live in "Gods Country" given the natural settings of the area (Rivers, bays, coast and bush). That comment of yours won't go down well with them.
CULWULLA February 19th, 2005, 08:42 AM well i lived in sutho shire and it is a great place but it has nothing on Central coast! Since i moved in June last year i havent missed they traffic one bit!
Umina Beach is a beautiful place.

What are you talking about! Lower North Shore and Eastern Suburbs has the Sydney Harbour! God sank his fingers and thumbs and scooped out rivers, coves, beaches, plateaus, cliffs, underwater beds and harbours.
KIWIKAAS February 19th, 2005, 11:45 PM Indeed. I saw the cross you saw Fabian. Next week mother Mary apearing in neon at the entrance to a Kings Cross strip club.
Looking at the state of the world and religious following I would me more inclined to see ''God's'' country as third world and developing countries waiting to be blessed with political and labour rights, a legal wage, weekends and holidays. However they must first learn to be collectively ruthless and self serving before God's blessing will be bestowed upon them.
uewepuep February 20th, 2005, 01:01 AM Nice guilt trip KIWIKAAS.
Fabian April 28th, 2005, 10:51 PM The cross was there again on Saturday Evening. Apologies for the poor angle. I had no tripod and I was taking the photo's from the front fence of a home.
Could it be a sign of God's presence in the world???

no
Just under payed cleaners doing that particular office in the GT as they do every night of the week. The only exception is that you happened to be looking as they did it. Quite divine :)
Fabian April 29th, 2005, 12:14 AM & for anyone who wants to check it out. Go to Catherine Street at Leichhardt where the Waste Depot is.

As for interpreting the sign, fair enough there are different views on it. It depends on your beliefs. As a Christian, I feel the cross could be a sign of God's presence of the world as Christians believe that God is always present in the world. It's only a personal view on it.

My appologies. Being a religious sceptic I tend to rebuff too quickly. If that is what you feel, then so beit.
Malt April 29th, 2005, 03:18 AM Im not a religious believer myself.
But if you want to believe that god organised cleaners to be in there just as you were at that spot, then you may do so.
lol.
CULWULLA April 29th, 2005, 03:42 AM dear o dear
Gargarensis April 29th, 2005, 08:48 AM nice to see KENS making an appearance... does anyone know how much higher it will go in those last two beautiful pics?

Why don't we say that most of the Sydney statistical district is God's country and leave it at that?
