This ziggurat has no historical value because it has been completely reconstructed by the Iraqi Department of Antiquities.

10/10...i'm surprised it didn't make the wonders of the ancient world, but then i remember that ur had all but been abandoned by the time that list was compiled, and that taller ziggurats had been built.

i was lucky enough to tour the ziggurat and ur about a year ago when i was stationed nearby. it was nice seeing it on the horizon everyday. one day i'd like to go see the Samarra miniaret (and the pyramids.)

a true marvel of engineering, it's stood nearly 4500 years, despite some damage from erosion, and a partial rebuild (mainly to straighten out the corner edges)
