Kaluga is one of the oldest Russian towns. It was founded in 1371 (it is the year of the first mentioning of it in old chronicles). The town is located about 170 kilometers southwest of Moscow.
Kaluga is famous for its impressive architecture of 17-19 centuries. Lots of churches and buildings constructed those years make the town be an attractive place for sightseeing.

Unfortunately, no.
I had a chance to make some photos just for a couple of hours.
Perhaps, I'll make more in summertime.

:applause: and :master: ulex!

You are a model forumer & fine photographer! :) Thank you for giving text and picture titles in 2 languages.

You show us splendid examples of both the sacred and secular architecture in Kaluga. The Theater is simply grand, and I like those colonnades--so handsome! Also, thanks for the wonderful detail of the wrought iron at the Manor. And of course I'm totally blown away by the churches.

What fascinated me the most in this entire series, though, is the decoration in this church tower (http://foto.rambler.ru/public/u/l/ulex70/1/9/9.jpg). I've never seen anything like it!

Thank you for good words, WH. :bowtie:

I got one more pic of St.George's Church's bell tower. The angle is quite better for looking over the details.
