Hi to everybody

Last week I was on trip through Lithuania. One of the best stops was at seashore, so I'll post some pics of mine.

Sorry to say, but there are ~50 pics and I don't want to post them in a single page, so the other part will be posted in the next page, of course, if the one will be present :)

So, let us begin

Klaipėda / Klaipeda / Memel

I love the atmosphere of Klaipeda, a little piece of Germany/Prussia we were lucky to get back in the 20's. ;)
I want to visit Klaipeda badly! :D

@grendy Yes, Klaipeda is very germanic. It's just obvious :)

@wolken No wonder, some of them are restored, but many are still waiting in the queue, althaugh the oldtown isn't big ;)

@Geex 12 replies to go and the next part will be shown :D

I like Klaipeda very much, I've spent there a couple of nights last august; it's probably the only bigger-town of former Eastern Prussia with some historical buildings still surviving, and surely there's still much work to do, but it's a very pleasant town, and it will become better and better in the next years! :)

This is a GREAT place, the Jazz Club, fine food (I ate a wonderful beaver! :D) and fine jazz music! :)

Nice to hear that :), Baltic states and Scandinavia probably looks to you quite exotic as for example Italy looks to us (atleast to me ;)).

@Gatis what pinguins are you talking about? :D

@Lauris even faster than you think. I saw a great amount of constructions when crossed all the city :)

@ch1le There used to be some, but I can't find them now

@Carletto Yep, they said it's a great pub. Next time I'll definetely spend some time there  And it's great you are fond of Lithuania so much :D

@John heh, I really liked the Memelis, especially the interior. Here's a pic from our meetup :)

Thank you, Mantai, for giving us another look at Klaipeda! :okay:

I know we have had photo threads of it before, but with each new thread the warmth of familiarity increases. :) I see that restoration work has taken place here and there, but a lot remains to be done ... I hope it will! :angel1:

I was quite blown away by the rococo dormer windows in this building (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v137/Mantaz/IMGP1421.jpg). They are just lovely, and NO WAY should they be replaced by boxy aluminum windows! :bash:

P.S.: Did you meet some Klaipeda forumers, Mantai?

No problem, WH :) Indeed Klaipeda is getting new shape and must agree about the windows, they are really classy

Sad, but I didn't meet any forumers from Klaipeda. Had very little time there :)

Mantai, I think page 2 of this thread is about to happen. :) So I'm looking forward to the next installment of photos, those of the Curonian Spit and the beautiful seaside at and near Klaipeda.

Ok, here's the post #21. Good, time to post another part :)

After a short walk through the oldtown in Klaipeda, we went to the ferry that brought us to the Curonian spit, or the place which is named Smiltyne. So let us go further

Smiltynė / Smiltyne

Here we found a little outside museum with 4 different kinds of ships.

After this we needed to hurry back to the ferry and go to the other destination of our trip, "The way of Curonians", a really nice coast there :)

@Carletto: it's always so nice to see you here! (And what are you doing with that FC St. Pauli emblem? ;) )
I'm more often here than on the Italian side of the forum! :D There's a better atmosphere here, and I love to see again what I saw last summer, it makes me remember some great times!
(yeah, I'm a FC St.Pauli fan, poor team, great heart... and nice girls! :D)

Thanks Mantai for the pics, they look quite cold!
I look forward to see the pics from Palanga, since I couldn't stop there, if not just for few minutes waiting for the bus to Liepaja.

P.S. I've been inside the Memelis too, it's very nice, 3 floors with different "decorations" and music, but I prefer the Jazz Club, both for music and food, and it's really beautiful inside too, but in august it was great to stay outside, after a day at the seaside on the Curonian Spit with 30°C! :)

 Amazing pics Mantaz, Klaipeda looks really beautiful. Many of the buildings is really unique, and many need some reconstruction as well. :)
