Any of them on Lake Minnetonka. I LOVE Lake Minnetonka in the summer, but only because my friend has a boat. The 4th of July on that lake is something else.

^ You should add Bloomington into your signature...it's considered a 3rd central city now :)

It is? I don't know, Bloomington isn't cool enough to be in my signature. :)

I decided to have that signature because I'm tired of Minneapolis getting all of the attention and tired of people forgetting that urban St Paul is right next door.

Speaking of St. Paul, I went to downtown St. Paul last week. I have never really explored that downtown and I've worked in downtown Minneapolis for almost 4 years and that's all I really knew of the Twin Cities. It's so cool that we have 2 downtowns and downtown St. Paul has some awesome older buildings. I'll have to do a picture thread this summer sometime.

Including Bloomington puts the "city" over 3/4 of a million people ;)

Cool, do you work in downtown St. Paul?

Some things that I noticed compared to downtown Minneapolis were: obviously, it's not as busy, it seems to have more street level shops, less bums, and it seems to have more older buildings.

My favorite building is the Pioneer Building from 1889, but I can't find any pics online and bastard emporis won't let me save their pics, so I guess I have to link to their pics:

http://www.emporis.com/en/il/pc/?id=128104&aid=8&sro=1

That building kicks ass.

what is Eden Prairie like? Our mayor always mentions it as a suburb he wants to be like.

Congrats. I'm "building" a condo in Minneapolis and it will be the first place that I pay a mortgage instead of rent.

I wish Maple Grove were closer to mpls. I like living here and all but I feel a bit isolated from the system. My overall favorite suburb would be Hopkins. It has its own downtown, (It used to be a satellite city and later swallowed whole by sprawl.) a perfect grid, great connection to the rest of the city. The downtown itself is reason for me to like it so much. It has a multi screen movie theatre, a performing arts theatre, many restuarants a local grocery store, and all within a few blocks. My second pick would be Richfield, but that is nothing more than an extension of south mpls.

I lived in Lauderdale for about 6 months after I graduated from St Thomas.

I'd have to agree with Anti- any suburb around Lake Minnetonka gets an A+ in my book.

My favorite suburb is St. Louis Park because it is so close to Minneapolis. I also like Golden Valley for the same reason. There's also some great houses from the 50's in Golden Valley.

Not sure which is best, but possibly the one I might move to when I sell my house in Uptown. I'm looking at some more houses tomorrow in Wisconsin. So maybe it's Somerset or New Richmond? Go Packers!!

You can't have that name anymore if you move and if you move to Wisconsin, you'll have to change your name to "Cheesehead".

Somerset could quite possibly be my least favorite city of that god awful state (No offense to anyone who lives there).

Everybody knows that Edina is by far the best suburb of Minneapolis. Wondering why it hasn't been mentioned as much as it deserves? Because everybody who lives there has way more better things to do than post comments on a website.

I don't know that. I'd rather have a house on Lake Minnetonka than in Edina.

I like living in Eagan.
its just a realy nice calm town. it has only one major highway running through it (I 35E) Then there is I 494 bordering the north and minnesota 77/cedar ave bordering the west. so its pretty quiet.

you might be able to save pics from emporis by saving a screenshot, then cutting out the picture from the screenshot and saving it as a new file.

worth a try.

not to boost my current home but I would say St. Louis Park. It has everything and then some :) A short drive to uptown/cbd/airport/MOA (the biggest friggen MALL in the USA) and many other places that could be your cup of tea. it is old very old and it was first created to be an industreal city so dirty factores in MPLS would leave the city to go to SLP. We have a ton of old rail paths criss crossing all over my city and many of them (because the companys moved fearther out) were turned into paths for walking, biking, etc. As the years went on more people wanted to live out here and the city was pretty much all built up by the 50's (thanx to the war being over for a few years it really made SLP boom w/ couples that were looking for a nice and cheap house). with that can kids lots of kids so SLP if i am not wrong had its biggest pop in the 50' or 60's. After that when the kids grew up they could not find a house (or at least very diffecult) to live in because this is truely a good place to live all the parents that raised the kids eather A did not die or B did not want to give up the house or leave the city themselves. So all the kids (not all) liked the way of life in the berbs so they had to move fearther out into places that really were created for the sole reason of handling all of the now grown ups a place to call there own w/ no history or any sort of signifigence other then to bread more city bashing childern who want nothing more then to destroy the core of why they are living so far away from the city. With no MPLS kiss all those suberbs good bye

(i dont mean to bash anyone personaly if u live way out (u know who u are)
i think anyone posting on this website at least cares a little about citys i am talking about the how should i say redneck backwood hummer driving treecutting (for no reason) big yard loving crazy in love w/ there cousin long trips to get milk at the store bicthing about cost of gas (we all do i am talking about the hummer again) thinks anyone wanting to incress taxes is a comme no sence making hick)

hey i feel a little better for letting it all out sorry for the long rant
